@ Reyner- well that's the issue currently, im just receiving legionary kits for this bloody space wolves and thousand son project so I'm just focused on that side the reviews which I'm slowly getting out to the inter webz which makes me continuously put off starting my militia.

@ thehydra- that word is the bane of my existence, I'll make you a deal we both focus on a project and the beers are on me when you get the nads to come visit

Imperial Militia Project Log; Vostroyan Legate Commander & Command Squad

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/images-603_zpsi04xvk2f_edit_1457601398899_zps2qfxzvnv.jpeg

So finally I'm ready to start my next Project, now here's a quick ramble to support why I've decided to go down this path. First up there aren't many Imperial Militia armies out there that well to be honest are that good, now this isn't to be a rat-dog towards anyone doing a militia project, I just haven't come across many good attempts at recreating the Imperial Army. So I thought to myself well everyone's doing Astrates and your lacking motivation so how about we plan something out?

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/images-490_zpsw463kohn.jpeg

That's when I came across all of John blanches original sketches for the Imperial army in my visions of heresy (when I was doing the review) and finally it hit me! Vostroyans a fully vostroyan John blanche inspired force in the trenches!!! So with a vision I started to stockpile.

so I thought I'd start with my HQ choices, now with the ability to take the provinces of war I decided as the army is vostroyan the right combination would be Survivors of the dark age of technology & Gene Crafted, this allows me to take Land raiders as dedicated transports for some units, with this in mind I decided hell what the :cuss let's do it. Plus who doesn't dig a beard?

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/6pcM2D-cn2P3-clTBNWqtdDEdFM8LAjkQuJJWdAemjd_rycoaF4S2ezQA5L8krnCFkP-IjhRUky0ATA9pUeln6VLVmcoeFeJgP45WhqT-rTzlibn8i-U8SHY2zm_zpsqvuo9mtr.jpeg

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_160549_zpspsgjrqzx.jpg

So here's the beginning of my Army, I still have to add another 4 grenade launchers and an officer for the squad to be maxed out, also I need a cyber familiar so I'm thinking I'll get a cyber mastiff (if anyone would be willing to donate one I'd be so bloody thankful if not I'll hunt one down)

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_155621_zps3pqewyok.jpg

so here we have the Legate commander he's stock with a Paragon Blade and Power Fist, competitively he's not going to be great but I love the stock model.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_155641_zpsnag7etlm.jpg

next up we have the standard Bearer for the squad, nothing says morale like a bearded shirtless bear grylls, I can't wait to use this army against Kizzdougs.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_155655_zpsp4qx2ohg.jpg

Vox Operator with Cognis Signum, I'll be keeping this guy safe to Bombard the enemy with my Medusas with Breacher shells.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_155610_zpsrzur2ssg.jpg

Grenade Launching bodyguard now I will be running 7 of these guys laying down frag and krak rounds to act as a detergent to the enemy.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160318_155558_zpsvo5q3hfg.jpg

Grenade Launching bodyguard conversion from the medic model, now ill be sculpting in the apothecarium symbol on his shoulder pad and building a verb race over the new hand, I thought fluff wise he can be a trained medic but I still need him with a grenade launcher to make the squad legal.

So what do you guys think about the start of this project? Let me know

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/3dmQe8U92D5YO8uxfu_YWflr5Cb6vkCrwaEfSV7JEwxiTlinnmt1Qhi73v5uNkA02giG-36ylUSdmtGiWINfxDJ0qN4Ngsua1hMCz0s5ra14uLqyGxAHRIKEUjE_zps7efxogtk.jpeg

Legion Deimos Pattern Mkiic Rhino; Build

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101233_MK1CDEIMOSPATTERNRHINO1_zpstgatm5mb.jpg

The staple of what this hobby use to be, the Rhino chassis platforms are by far rare to see since the introduction of the Spartan and sicarian chassis, where Whirlwinds, Vindicators and predators were the main Tanks we fielded and rhinos ran 10 man squads to objectives. The good old days are back with the Mkiic deimos Rhino, now I'm not feeling nostalgic just to seem hip to the jive, I 100% thoroughly enjoyed building this kit and I recommend we start #savetherhino and bring awareness to this dying chassis.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101427_zpsnd4gprdq.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101433_zpsbg1cjroe.jpg

so first up clean and clip your resin components & get the basic Rhino plastic components ready for assembly.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101517_zps7qfwmgzj.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101554_zpsb9fmvqby.jpg

start by fitting your hull pieces and securing them with glue (really Kurama I was going to pray for it to stick together #Zeal #Witchcraft)

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101643_zpsrorulzkk.jpg

now you should be left with something resembling this, from here all the hard work is done everything else fits itself.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101828_zpsa9spdx6s.jpg

next we fit the roof panel allowing it to FULLY CURE so we can just man handle the side plates later.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_101910_zpspzummkvj.jpg

We then glue the face plate into place.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_102117_zpsfkvzd0mt.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_102215_zpsda5nahhz.jpg

then we just lightly apply pressure to the side panels till the click into the Grove of the top plate. Now the Rhino is taking shape nicely.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_102440_zpsmop25um4.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_102617_zpsahoatrc7.jpg

then we glue the exhaust pipes into place and attach the external Doors.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_102940_zps3hfsji0p.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_103140_zps5havsjrj.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_103216_zps1xevbxfq.jpg

We then proceed to attach the hull mounted bolters.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_103348_zpsel197iey.jpg

then finally I attach the rear hatch, now the Rhino is nearly finished requiring just the tracks lights & dozer blade.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_104706_zpsmjwrbihj.jpg

The tracks get attached

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_104922_zpsksuuflva.jpg

and there you have it a finished Rhino, pretty simple to build but looks great!

This kit is wonderful and I hope we see more 10 man squads utilizing them in the future. Next up.... I'm not sure but it will be a suprise

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/3dmQe8U92D5YO8uxfu_YWflr5Cb6vkCrwaEfSV7JEwxiTlinnmt1Qhi73v5uNkA02giG-36ylUSdmtGiWINfxDJ0qN4Ngsua1hMCz0s5ra14uLqyGxAHRIKEUjE_zps7efxogtk.jpeg

Legion Siciran Battle Tank

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101336_LEGIONSICARANBATTLETANK1_zpskomo98mf.jpg

Well now, I just got my latest shipment of forgeworld goodies and it looks like this space wolves army is starting to take shape, but that's not why we are here now is it? I thought I'd start with the sicarian battle tank, no particular reason other that it's solid and full resin. So let us begin;

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_163858_zpsvyp4cqlg.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164019_zps0h3wdi9p.jpg

This pack contains the main track segments instructions and a bag of resin plastic crack.

The kit hasn't been changed over to the white box style yet, I can confirm that the Spartan is now in a white forgeworld box, but you can wait till that Review.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_163931_zpslikl5pwh.jpg

as always the instructions for this kit.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164036_zpsnvmoompk.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164049_zps27qodejc.jpg

We have perfect casting on the track panels and side plates.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164115_zpszdb289i9.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164119_zpsjzjgmogq.jpg

top hull plate, very minor warping in the center but that will be rectified pre build.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-03-23%2017.13.43_zpstydzi1n7.jpg

The bottom hull plate

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164148_zpsqwolg6ou.jpg

The central turret, looks amazing and crisp cast in resin.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164202_zpsnkozvwzs.jpg

I'm not sure what you'd call this hunk of resin?

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164228_zpsaedqucqo.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164238_zpsttoneajw.jpg

The accelerator Autocannon, yeah unfortunately it's warped but with a good soak it should straighten out.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164311_zpsxmz8vqij.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164315_zpsua6xe4lq.jpg

The main engine block

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_164410_zpsdciytlum.jpg

sponson Weapons and cabling.

So the kit is great I'm happy with the quality even with its couple of warped pieces, so next up is most likely the build review.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/3dmQe8U92D5YO8uxfu_YWflr5Cb6vkCrwaEfSV7JEwxiTlinnmt1Qhi73v5uNkA02giG-36ylUSdmtGiWINfxDJ0qN4Ngsua1hMCz0s5ra14uLqyGxAHRIKEUjE_zps7efxogtk.jpeg

Legion Siciran Battle Tank; Build

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101336_LEGIONSICARANBATTLETANK1_zpskomo98mf.jpg

God, a rough weekend of drinking arguing and best of all 4 days without my hobby gear makes me happy to get back to what I like to do best. That is Kurama reviews!! So today I'm posting the finished sicarian build.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_170127_zpsieh7f8nm.jpg

gather all your resin components like such, make sure you've sanded back the resin gates on the side plates first and foremost.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_170330_zpspfzlxrkb.jpg

We then join the base of the hull to this component let's call it Jeff, so make sure Jeff is level to the base plate.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_170351_zpsuoldubzm.jpg

We then lightly epoxy the engine block, I say lightly as I broke the engine block a couple times to get it to fit flush.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_170747_zpsfrm6qbbt.jpg

I then attached the top hull section to Jeff and the engine block.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_171023_zpskbjqz4l7.jpg

now as you can see there's a minor gap in the bottom as I attached the side plate so I left it there and just greenstuffed the gap.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_171139_zps1sxjzgkh.jpg

which gives us the main hull complete.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_175129_zpsljcskoob.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_180642_zpskfq91qzt.jpg

I then proceeded to the turret and attached the hatches targeting reticle and stowage.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_180944_zpshugauzp9.jpg

We then progress to the exhausts

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_181701_zpsppwzfsfu.jpg

and finally I added the front hull mounted bolter.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_181751_zpsjhxyrfla.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_182634_zpsel3mmzvr.jpg

now to the sponsons it's pretty simple and isn't worth diving into too much detail, simply put install the sponson plates then build the cabling and housing around the Lascannon.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_182734_zpsnbfd0fvx.jpg

We then add the Ammo hopper to the Autocannons and fit in place.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160323_183212_zpscc36uz4h.jpg

and there we have it a quick and easy sicarian battle tank, now I've got to say this is a beautiful kit and im looking forward to painting this bad boy. Next up the Spartan Assault Tank

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/3dmQe8U92D5YO8uxfu_YWflr5Cb6vkCrwaEfSV7JEwxiTlinnmt1Qhi73v5uNkA02giG-36ylUSdmtGiWINfxDJ0qN4Ngsua1hMCz0s5ra14uLqyGxAHRIKEUjE_zps7efxogtk.jpeg

Legion Spartan Assault Tank

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101251_SpaceMarineSpartan01_zpsmwocfakj.jpg

The Spartan Assault Tank, the biggest headache that most hobbyists use to avoid. But now forgeworld has heard your pleas and given us the newest rendition of this resin monstrosity!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162721_zpsazgy3oq2.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162734_zpsdgsst4zq.jpg

So as you can see they've even started re boxing all their spartans, is it a sign that one day we will see forgeworld stores instead of Games workshop stores? A man can dream.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_195436_zps5qjm1hes.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_195445_zps9cdwcdrb.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_195455_zpsrkozakcg.jpg

Now the first of the in depth instructions to be re released.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162842_zpsx7ryy96d.jpg

so yes as you can see the tracks have been fixed and now cast on to the main hull components, so let's take a better look.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162858_zpsewnbgxpe.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162908_zpsgqsn5cxy.jpg

The tracks are a beauty to behold, as much as I love the new molds I will say; you haven't built a Spartan till you've built an original

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_162917_zpsp5ayjtly.jpg

The top hull section, highly detailed cast with minor warping on the underside.

The interior of the Spartan, it's a beautiful piece that unfortunately gets forgotten about due to its unfortunate positioning inside the tank.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_163034_zpsdpyzouyg.jpg

The engine block a hefty sized Piece of resin almost on par with the Fellglaive.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160330_163051_zpszayduzgm.jpg

So that's all the components to this resin beast, now yes I've already built it but honestly I'm exhausted from work so tomorrow ill post the build guide, post the MkIIb Land raiders Review and do a comparison Review of both variants of the built MkIIb Land Raider Achillies Alpha (Volkite and melta)

Edit: forgot to add the music

so once again Kurama reviews another god damn Land Raider, I think I've nearly covered every heresy variant. So great looking kit doesn't have many resin components so it's a quick one, but a little note Forgeworld really stuffed the pooch on this one for me, now I was missing a track section for the plastic sprue literally the entire right side sprue so I gave them a buzz, they replaced it and all was well till I opened the mail today and the sprue... was the same I already had.... So I went to ebay and spent 7aud for the proper pieces I need.

extra bits...

now I'm really unimpressed with the entirety of this kit, this means I'll be converting this to make it more fitting to my needs, I have decided to purpose this towards my vostroyans but keep it with SoH markings maybe make it black with Reaver markings.

Now this is going to be sort of a gift from the Warmaster to the militia army I'm building so I can use it in both armies.

I'm sort of in a bad mood so I'm sorry it's short, just a really :cussty kit. Next up the Spartan build and Cerberus review

Welcome to my second Review based on the Spartan Chassis, now you don't see many running around on the forums so I'm happy to be bringing this one to you; the Legion Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer a wonderful marvel from the heresy Armoury, so let us begin.

Please note as ive done some things like the sponsons and exhausts etc they will be left out as to show more photos with the bandwith.

now first up I've got to say I'm so happy the tracks haven't been cast on, this kit is so much easier to build without the resin cast gates ruining the track linkages.

so the instructions aren't the clearest but it's pretty straightforward to build believe me (it took 20mins)

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160331_162119_zpsldlxetaf.jpg

The track plates, great cast much better than the new Spartan (yes I'm jaded)

The top hull section, heaps of highly detailed pieces such as the reactor housing vents and cabling.

and finally the sponson armour.

great kit can't wait to get to the build as its a beauty of a model so if your considering a Superheavy go for this model.

This blog is so damn motivational.

The Rhinos look easy to work with, they use similar side panels to the Deimos vindicator and I'll be looking to get some eventually.

It's a shame the Legion cerberus still gas separate track pieces!

Oh... You have too much money by the way :-D

Thanks buddy if it helps one person out there its all worth it, now I'm not 100% happy with the cast tracks and later in the evening I'll post the build of the Spartan and you'll understand.

The way the resin release gates are placed I had heaps of air bubbles underneath when I cut the gate off which is going to need a bit of work to fix

I'm liking all of this, very helpful for the future! This is definetly helping me to get myself some forgeworld resin, originally I was overwhelmed by all the construction due to my bad experience with GW vehicles.

Going to buy myself a leviathan in a day or two so I have to see if you've done a construction for that.

@jolemai- there's a lot of magnets awaiting delivery for all the sponsons, im not a fan of magnetizing mostly because I really don't travel with my armies or do weapon swaps if I want say a heavy bolter variant sicarian I'll buy another one ;)

@thatonemarshall- I haven't posted one yet as I built mine before photos for the review but I'm hoping my next fw order will be ready to put through next fortnight, I'll throw one in to do a review for you.

Ohh and remember these reviews are just my way, other people might do things differently or more extensively, im sort of a lazy hobbyist so I tend to just throw stuff together

Now I promised the builds but honestly I'm half cut right now and I've got another 4 stubbies to drink then I'm crashing for the night, so instead leave me some motivation and feedback in whatever form you wish and I'll do it in the morning.

In fact tomorrow ill spend the whole day hobbling if you motivate me enough.

So ill see you chaps in the morning

@jolemai- there's a lot of magnets awaiting delivery for all the sponsons, im not a fan of magnetizing mostly because I really don't travel with my armies or do weapon swaps if I want say a heavy bolter variant sicarian I'll buy another one msn-wink.gif

Fair enough. I magnetised (badly because I'm a n00b) the hinge on the hull weapon to allow it to move up and down (and I was kinda considering kitbashing it to be a Typhon). Will be doing the sponsons but I'll likely pin any pintle weaponry.

The Sicaran is the same, but I'm also considering using a 25 mm base with my Legion/Chapter emblem on it for the times when I run it without.

Kurama, this thread rocks, and keep making me want to buy more resin!!

I'd tell you to stop, but hot-damn... And the reviews of the builds really help.

Keep trucking..

Jolemai, what size magnets do you use? I am considering magnetiing the cannon on my Typhon,

UK based, I've bought the N52 neodymium ones from Guy's Magnets. Bought the 2 x 1 mm and 3 x 1 mm, the hinge was whatever fitted. I have yet to do the sponsons, but I know some use rings rather than discs?

I have a pack of these from Darksphere too.
