Thanks Kriegs! I've decided at some point in the probably far future, it'd be awesome to do a sort of naked knight, without the armour panels or arms. Like mid-construction in a forge, showing off all the detail.

But, more photos! The torso is now practically done, got a nuln oil wash to do on side and back, and probably on cables on front, but then it's onto the actual armour...

Progress! Decided on the armour scheme for the upper half. Panel in the middle of chest will be bone, upper panels will be very dark blue/black, shoulders will be medium dark metallic blue, to have the lightning and legion symbols on. Other than that the head will have a skull on, as soon as I work out how to get it on, while the lowest plates will be half red/dark blue, and hopefully with some cutting I should be able to fit the smallest reaper from the transfer sheet on the dark blue half, one on each leg.

Also progressed with the weapons, particularly the lascutter. Kinda went with a choom style paintjob, think it came out alright. In other news, store painting competition classified as 'duel'. Plans for Atrapos vs Kytan on the crashed thunderhawk board abound ;)

I get mine from ork nob bosspoles. Here's an example (sorry for bad quality, my only camera atm is my $10 phone).

Another idea off the top of my head would be AoS wrathmongers chainflail weapons:

Hope this helps biggrin.png.

Find a thrift shop that sells really cheap secondhand jewelry (necklaces and the like) and use chain from those. You'll get a good variety of stuff to choose from, generally.

Failing that, I think I remember Brother Heinrich mentioning one time that Flint had a really good source of scale chain. Keep in mind it was a while ago, so I may be misremembering and even if I'm not, my information may be very outdated, but I'd check with her.

Just a quick question for anyone reading, where would you suggest getting a length of very small chain, for hanging skulls and the like, from?

I got mine off eBay for cheap :) multiple colors too. Just search jeweler's chain.

Thanks you three :) Found some chain and ordered. I also have the skulls on chain from the kytan kit...but not sure if I should use them.

Anyways, need an opinion. Which transfer should I use for the middle?

Also, the knight in all it's WIP glory, almost full upper body shot :) Just to show I'm making progress ;)

Go on Marshal... ;) It is genuinely one of the funnest things I've had to build and paint so far, barring perhaps Curze. It goes together like a dream, and allows for brilliant poseability. It's what every true heresy player needs.

And thanks Observer :) Having seen some of your men, your praise means a lot. The contrast works due to how dark the blue is, methinks, though it does vaguely resemble a massive killer spiderman robot. I do plan to weather the knight, to tie somewhat in with the fluff.

And here she is, striding forward. Finally put her all together, now just need to get round to finishing the painting, and waiting on the base to arrive... Haven't decided what colours to do the leg plates yet, if I should keep blue or red, or see a sort of mix.

Wow, just wow! Such tremendous work! She is amazing! Love the bone-painted helm and the contrast really is a treat for the eye! biggrin.png The more she progresses, the more she looses this spiderman-y touch and gains much more of an own imagine!

And on the low-hand, thanks for the compliments...^^

Fantastic thumbsup.gif! The atrapos chassis is my (currenttongue.png) favorite cerastus chassis, you do it Leagues of Justice (see what I did there lol). I especially like your tasteful, but not over-the-top weathering (and the nicely placed decal). Is the base you bought blank (I really enjoy custom bases, both making them and seeing others' work) or did you buy a pre-made?

Hey all. Thanks Krieg, Observer and Rune :)

I was trying to go for a reasonably weathered effect, though I've found I can often overdo it somewhat. I'll touch up areas with black to imitate scorching, maybe drill a few holes here and there.

The base I got is, since my scratchbuilding and converting skills are mediocre at best, a pre-made lava base. However for the next knight (probably a lancer) I do have a few interesting ideas... When I do more unique characters, I'll see about making some custom bases for them. Probably for Lucifex and for Ophion, maybe Mawdrym.

Just a kinda update picture this time. Plan for the ankle plates is half lightning, half legion symbol, like the pads. I'll also see about putting some trophies around the place, knight masks, bio-monstrosity remains, flayed skin, astartes helms, and the like. Shoulder pad #2 almost done now, leaving the two ankle plates and finishing the two weapons.

I apologise for the even worse than normal picture, moved from ipad (semi okay photos) to phone (horrific). You might also notice the Imperial fist sneaked in there, my entry for march of the legions. Just a normal marine but with a host of additional wargear.

Finished the weathering on the leg armour plates, not entirely happy how the scorching came out, so might give it another go. The lava base should arrive in a day or so, so I'll be able to fully build her. Also working on some trophies including flayed skin for one of the leg plates, a chain of astartes helms, knight faceplates, and the like.

Finished the first lower leg plate, with the lightning and half symbol scheme, and bone for the top trim. Wondering if I should put lightning on all the blue plates now, or if I should also put it on the chest as well as shoulders and shins.

Other than that, finally put together a model for Ophion for a game coming up. Not entirely happy with how he came out, and if I get a chance I'll probably replace his axe with a SoH one. Also irritatingly I only worked out he had a vanilla chestplate after he was all glued together. Oh well.

Ophian is a little plain looking, but I like his bloody aegis, and the stabby bit at the bottom of his axe haft (great for finishing off helpless enemies msn-wink.gif). For the Atrapos, I would go for lightning on all blue areas, just for consistency, and 'cause lightning bolts are awesome!

Yeah, I get what you mean about the plainness. Going to see if I can mold some details from Sevatar onto him, add a helmet crest, and also after seeing Deadman Wade's picture on TMC, a cloak. Just need to decide between a flayed flesh cloak or just a normal red one. Also have a spare Curze cloak I'm saving for Lucifex...

The bloody aegis was a bit hit and miss. My original idea was just to have spiky armour, from the SoH command set. I'll probably still do a model like that. This guy however was adapted from a breacher, so the shield was already there.

I'm going to finish the legs on the Atrapos, then put a picture of the whole thing up, and see who votes on more lightning and who votes on fine as is. I think it could be very easy to go over the top, especially with the pattern style I've chosen.

Yeah, it would be nice to see the whole knight at once.

I really love your idea for using the SoH spiked armour as the bloody aegis, and it got me thinking of an idea for Ophian's power axe.

What if you take both axe heads from the SoH command set and cut them down to size and mount them on his wrists, batman style. I think his fighting style would be captured handily, he let's his enemy attack first (the unwieldy from his axe), utilising his bloody aegis to wear him down, then viciously counterattacks with his blades.

Then maybe model his volkite serpenta as special throwing blades, that blow up on impact (deflagrate).

Damn, now I want to model that myself tongue.png.
