Hod
I really like those guardsmen. The red adds a great amount of contrast to really make them stand out. I need to get myself in gear, hopefully today I'll have some time to put some paint on my DCAs. Hod
I got a little work done. These two are base coated minus all their silver bits. I decided to go with the DC color scheme where their top and bottom halfs are different colors (red and black), with the gold tying it all together. http://www.hodsminis.com/SoB/SoB_DCAss_WIP_2_12_17.jpg Hopefully I can get some more done on it today and have it finished next week... But maybe that's optimistic. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330688-cleansing-of-ioria-campaign-phase-2/page/2/#findComment-4654032 Share on other sites

Hod
I'm getting close. Just the the base, the hair, final highlights on everything, and figuring out what color I want to do the swords in. Any suggestions. I was also thinking about free-handing some =][= on their little wrist shields, but I don't know if it'll make them look better or worse yet. http://www.hodsminis.com/SoB/SoB_DCAss_WIP_2_17_17.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330688-cleansing-of-ioria-campaign-phase-2/page/2/#findComment-4659029 Share on other sites

VulkansDynasty
Ok! Vow complete. http://i.imgur.com/yy3APAP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0DY5jrN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OFFBCXI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wpvq4vS.jpg Obligatory Fluff bit that goes with what I was thinking as I panted these guys: Originally assigned to the cruiser "Aquila's Gaze", a large contingent of Bullgryns collectively known as "the Wreckers" were assigned as a boarding party/anti boarders for ship to ship combat. When the crew of the ship went pirate, the officer in charge of the Bullgryn contingent kept the isolated and had told them they were fighting enemies of the Emperor. Bullgryns are fairly dim creatures and they bought it, over the next 5 years they were the backbone of many assaults on freighters and other ships. Having grown bold, the crew of the Gaze decided to attack a larger imperial battleship, the element of surprise caught the ship right as it exited the warp, before the crew of the Battleship "Emperor's Favor" could react they were set upon and boarding parties were already breaching portions of the ship. With their gun crews having to fight boarders they weren't able to bring the full might of the ship's weapons upon the pirate vessel. However the Favor was carrying a few squads of Salamanders Space Marines who had hitched a ride. These marines set to the task of stopping the pirates, aided by the Guard Contingent of the Firestorm Sentinels on board. Needless to say things ended poorly for the Pirates. Fighting in the Engine deck was where the fiercest combat was seen,, since none of the pirates could take the command decks due to the Astartes and Guard Elite there. Commander Shade asked to have a five man squad of Marines help clear the Engine deck, and sent one of his lieutenants to help along with forty guardsmen. When the Lt finally cleared his way into the deck with the Marines, he found a bulwark had been set up around the plasma reactors comprised of the Pirate Elite, and the last 10 bullgryns from the Wreckers. Upon seeing the Marines, the Bullgryns, lead by a large red bearded ard'ed named Emberbeard realized that they were the enemies, and not the unfortunates they had beat to death with their mauls. That realization led those 10 bullgryns to turn on their keepers, and the Salamanders watched while the Bullgryns beat their own captain to death along with his assault crew and engineers who were attempting to rig the plasma reactor to overload. (cause if they can't take the ship, nobody can!) As the sounds of combat lulled, the Lt. approached the Bullgryns and ordered them to stand down. As a whole they did so, however the last act of defiance by the Captain of the Gaze was to overload a couple of plasma rifles he had brought along with his squad. The Bullgryns near the rifles reacted quicker than anyone expected and shielded the Lt, the Marines, and the delicate equipment around the plasma reactor, giving their own lives to save others. Commander Shade watched all this happen on the vidscreens, and seeing that the Bullgryns were still likely loyal, ordered them brought to him under Marine guard. After meeting with them, the bullgryns were saddened that they were used as a tool against the Imperium, for they were forever loyal. Commander Shade offered them redemption, by taking up their weapons and crusading with the Sentinels against the enemies of the Imperium. For with their own blood and lives they could redeem themselves. To this day they remain fervent in their redemption, having spearheaded numerous boarding assaults, and breaking the backbone of many enemy lines. The original six Bullgryns still survive to this day, having now become a favored bodyguard of Shade when he is required to stalk the battlefield. The Wreckers numbers have swelled and ebbed over the many years, but these six have refused to die until they feel they've earned their redemption....
