I'm playing with test-tourney lists today. I'm going to try SftS'ing 10 Hellblasters and 6 Boltstorm Aggressors alongside Issodon(Storm of Fire), LT, and a Relic Banner and see what happens.

Edit: My opponent backed out last minute. Still going to mess with the list.

STFSing hellblasters is all kinds of awesome :D

My Raven Guard are currently in the warp (in long working contract outside the country), but I'm currently assessing whether to start a new army/modeling project to pass the time ! :D

Have tried the list above but with RG and all the goodies in the pod. Librarian/Lt/apothecary/Relic Bannerman and some company vets with plasma/melta flanked by SFTs Aggresors and hellblasters with Shrike deepstriking for rerolls. Its very efficient with all the rerolls and chance of dying and shooting back.

Not to mention apothecary to raise up the dead...

My Raven Guard disappointed the Emperor.

0-3

I expected as much, though. Especially when I saw 3 different players show up with Magnus AND Mortarion.

Also, Shadowswords are nasty. Dropped my pristine Fire Raptor with one shot from its volcano vannon.

Do you know who ended up winning? Was it one of the Magnus/Brimstone lists? Also that Harlequin army was pretty dope.

Results aside, you took the plunge and showed up to play, and did so admittedly with a sub-optimal list due to time constraints and painting. I wasn't even brave enough to do that

Good luck! I have some friends from KC headed there too look out for the harlies jumping over chess pieces. :biggrin.:

Did your buddies Harlie army have an Yncarne standing atop a pile of mini D6s? If so that army was dope :smile.:

If I had chosen Primary mission more wisely I would have won the 3rd game against Death Guard. I lost it on objectives. If I'd been playing the kill points mission instead I would have got him.

The guy who won was the guy with Magnus, Mortarion, and a Lord of Skulls in a Super Heavy detachment.

That was the one! Were you there too?

Yeah, Vyper stopped by for a bit. Didn't play though.

Always fun meeting internet acquaintances in person.

Met my wife the same way :)

Was hoping to get to play your buddy, but it was not to be.

I lost to Blood Ravens, Chaos soup, and Death Guard.

The Blood Ravens stole a Shadowsword....

His list was very close to the list that Ryan Mead played at the BAO this weekend (and got top 8 with) - He just ran a knight instead of the Lord of Skulls, and a mini-deathstar of plage drones with the leftover points.

Very brutal to deal with those 3 Super Heavys followed up with brimstone spam to hold objectives.

I stopped by for about half an hour, got to meet C&E, check out his army, then walk the room and see the lists, etc. I didn't have enough new stuff fully painted to play, but I wanted to at least stop by and say hi to meet folks (also met the nice fellow that was running the event that also runs the Bugeater GT).

I'm looking into getting a Hellhammer escorted by a few squads of Catachans led by Straken.

Allied with my Raven Guard it should be a fluffy, yet competitive list.

3d6 shots at 3 damage each should delete stuff nicely.

Also considering a Stormlord loaded up with mortar teams.

I'm hoping I might be able to do Bug Eater next year! Mini B&C RG meet up?

BTW you guys should think of going to MidWest Conquest in KC next year, Memorial day long weekend, lots of fun! :D

Hellhammers are great, especially now they're cheaper and fall within ITC's 31PL limit (previously they were 32! :'( )

I need to start building my Baneblade, but I just took on another Baneblade commission...

My local tournament scene has a player that runs 3 Baneblades and one that runs 3 Lords of Skulls. Its painful.

Im considering running 3 of my knights and just spamming MSU plasmagun tacs but it feels wrong. I love my knights but...

I've considered getting into the tournament scene just to try it out. I'm hesitant because I don't have that many games under my belt and I don't want to slow it down because I'm not as familiar with the rules as the guy across from me.

I would love to get into an escalation league at one of the local shops but my schedule is so buys I can't reliably commit to an event that spans that much time.

Honestly sounds really fluffy and fun. I have always felt guard make a good compliment to Raven Guard since we tend towards a low model count/elite force, the extra bodies could be very helpful!

Oh man, MidWest Conquest is May 26-27, and Bugeater is the following week June 1st-3rd. I think I have my target goal to get my entire force repainted and ready for next year!

My personal goal for a while now was to get my RG ready for the Bugeater, now that I know that event is in KC, I want to do them both!

We absolutely should do a meetup and hangout when there!

I have been watching Gaming with the Cooler and Mountain Miniatures Gaming (Steve from miniwargaming's personal channel) and his buddy plays guard, and has played quite a few games with 2 or 3 Baneblades, and they look very brutal.

I just tried my Hellblaster/Aggressor list. It was pretty potent. I was torn between 10 Hellblasters and 10 VV with dual Plasma pistols. Hellblasters have the range, AP, and staying power but VV would be able to deploy when you want via Lias/Jump Packs. Going forward I think I'll spend the third CP to SftS the Bannermarine so he is with the Hellblasters turn 1 so the will benefit from the banner even if I go second.

  • 3 weeks later...

Base coated my Reivers today using my airbrush for the first time. Probably took a little longer than the rattle can but certainly wasted a fraction of paint with over spray and got really nice overall coverage.

Also got to one of my grav sternguard squad that isn't fully painted and switched them to just the bolters. Almost went plasma but figured hellblasters would do a better job for plasma support.

My Raptor Force has come out of the Warp and is sending the first scouting parties out in almost a year. Here's one of the tactical marine signaling his brother that he found the way out of the storage box.

A big thanks to LutherMax and his amazing Raptor tutorial - you got me back on my painting table to try out your tutorial and it was so fun to paint again!

Here's the link to the tutorial for all Raptor fans http://www.themightybrush.com/how-to-paint-raptors-space-marines/

Will post progress on an irregular basis.

My RG have deployed a second unit of scouts, this one a boltgun squad.

I need to apply a whiter-gray glaze to tone down the borg-like skin (I've had four separate people say they look like the borg... they're not wrong!)

ucUbOth.jpg

Yeah, sorry about that :sad.:

Don't be. You're not wrong. In the morning when I read your post I thought 'haha, that's funny'. Then on FB and Reddit I started getting the same responses... 'oh... Race was absolutely right'... dangit...

It's a quick and easy fix though, not worried

My 10th company of Raptors were last seen scratching their heads and asking their captain what he meant, when he said "no you can not take 3 Predators as one Heavy support option"  and now are sulking

Went up against 2k of Guard last night. New Opponent.

Final result was 4-7 to him.

Infamous/spectacular moments:

Shrike killing 3 Heavy Weapons teams in combat single handedly.

T1 Devastators destroying a Basilisk in 1 turn.

T2 Devastators rolling 4 1's to hit against the second Basilisk... captain was elsewhere...

Many guard mown down by twin assault cannon Razorbacks and my Sicarian Punisher.

Devastator Sergeant in T2 capping a sentinal which explodes causing massive casualties in the centre of the board... double edged sword there...

Vindicator Laser Destroyer Over Charging and capping a Leman Russ Annihilator.

3 turns, blood flowed, and a brutal game. I was edged out of a draw/minor victory due to decent D3 rolls for his objectives.
