Tournament report over in another thread

I also had some prep to do on the army for the big tournament.

gallery_85153_13735_589143.png

I dropped the helbrute so thought I'd make him more secure when I put him back on his base. Then I added some more basing material to hide the greenstuff. I also needed some combi-bolters to make the rhinos wyswyg.

I also thought I would get the 5 raptors I'm taking finished. I abandoned them at a table top standard when I did the full 15 a year or two ago.

Got these guys off ebay when they were in Warhammer conquest (it sold out too fast for me to escape being scalped). I intend to use the Lord Feltheus model as a Terminator Sorcerer. I'll probably just add them to my existing Blightlord squads to make up for the samey bodies in the multipart kit. I'm also getting started on the bloat drone and plagueburst crawler from the Christmas Battleforce.

Plague Burst Crawler pretty much done, tainted cohort almost ready to base.

My copy of Shadowspear came in the post today. Here's some size comparisons

two greater possessed, regular possessed I got in an auction and only partially repainted, 3rd ed plasma gunner I built when there was no official possessed box and I forgot to read that possessed don't get special weapons (they did get bolt pistols back then).

Noise marine, shadowspear marine, dark vengeance chosen 3rd ed plastic marine, metal 2nd ed marine

Shadowspear Champion, custom guy (second ed plastic legs, mark IV torso), dark vengeance chosen, 3rd ed plastic marine, metal 2nd ed marine.

With news of Fallen Sorcerers in the new Vigilus book, I'm going to have to get the dark vengeance librarian I have lying around painted.

So it begins...

gallery_85153_13735_673843.png

Got my tainted cohort blight lords based so I could start on my shadowspear. With Obliterators now on 50mm bases I needed to experiment with doing more detailed large bases.

Nice progress on your Death Guard, I particularly like the rust on the Plagueburst Crawler.

The side by side with the new Shadowspear models is interesting.  I'm struck by how good the obliterators look as just grey plastic - must hae been the GW paint jobs that were putting me off.

Got the backpacks done, started on the marine squad.

Ordered 5 of the new terminators and a box of deathshroud for converting another obliterator and then maybe finishing off that Plague Brethren squad.

Got an email saying my terminators are delivered tomorrow. I have to leave for a tournament on friday. Can I get them ready in time?

Shadowspear marine progress, only one of these will probably even be in the army. Top row is after the wash just to confuse things.

Went 1/5 at the tournament. 2 minor losses 1 massive victory 2 major defeats. Main problem was having the bad luck to have to go against a Castellan twice.

Upon getting back I managed to get the trim done on the other 5 Shadowspear marines in between getting my Age of Sigmar army ready for the GT in a few weeks. Also got my the Bloodthirster of my youth out to finish some half started repairs.

Got started on building some wrath and rapture stuff. Fiends are amazing models but will probably need some filling with greenstuff (the flesh hounds did).

Picked up a box of the finecast havocs at Warhammer World and I'm not sure what I was expecting but it contains 4 identical finecast bodies. Which wouldn't have been a problem once upon a time but I don't plan on buying any more of the old marine plastics so I had to take apart some bolter guys I already had.

gallery_85153_13735_135553.png

Also decided to update them to 40mm base and use up some warptalon spares from my raptor sprues.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got the bodies from havocs box mostly done.

gallery_85153_13735_258884.png

Along with the havoc box weapons on old bodies rebased to 40mm. My box of the new multipart marines came in and I stuck a resin havoc head, some old legs and the new heavy bolter/backpack together.

gallery_85153_13735_1202215.png

I also rebased most of my old havocs onto 40mm.

gallery_85153_13735_1199167.png

Start Collecting Nurgle box and a Great Unclean one came with the new havocs and marines which is a lot to paint so despite ETL only being in a short while I thought I'd get the nurgle out of the way.

Going off same tutorial as my first 10 plaguebearers. I just replaced carroburg crimson with army painter red tone because that's what I have, added some spodges of army painter blue tone in between Duskraider's steps 4 and 5 and watered down p3 murderous magenta before the last wash.

Nurglings and plague bearers pretty much finished, rot flies going in the cupboard for when I have a plan for their carapace.

Great Unclean One magnetisation took a few days due to greenstuff drying.

Nice work on converting the havocs. If you don’t mind me asking why’d you pick up a box of those finecast ones?

And the Nurgle horde is looking great! The paint job is spot on and I’m looking forward to seeing the great unclean one get the same treatment.
