The team is sorely missing a Son of Dorn... :tongue.:

So grumpy yellow boy, grumpy black boy or grumpy blue boy?

Grumpy Black Boy always asking Tyber - "How bout that Ophidium Gulf incident?" Or: "how bout them legions you're building? Ours is bigger.."

Could also be a Grumpy Green Boy - Invaders - chapter Relic is a souped-up combi-melta.

Alternatively could be a Grumpy Black and Gold boy, a Hammer of Dorn that continually rags Vaidan about how the Ultramarines don't even understand their own Big Book...

Possibilities for Grumping are endless and am a huge Imperial Fist fan...

Yeah Astral Claws are awesome their lore is one of my favourites. Bloody Huron.

He was alright to start with, nice guy, good ideas.  Then he started hanging out with the wrong crowd, letting strays in like Sumatris and that dude was whack.  The whole Badab War I think is an allegory for the First Gulf War, but take that as you will.

As much as I love Solastion and playing him, for Episode 2 I've definitely been thinking of going back to my Legion roots (Imperial Fists) or, going for the Stealth Assassin Raven Guard character I thought up a while ago.

We'll see.

High Marshal Helbrecht (HMH): So, Master Voltarn, how is that Legion Building of yours going? Mine is bigger...

Master Voltarn (MV): Slower than we would like, any chance that you could keep the Inquisition busy chasing their tails? They are looking into us too much to put our plans into action.

HMH: I will see what I can do, any worries about us setting them onto the rest of the spawn of the Lion?

MV: No, none at all.

I'd be interested in Episode two ...if you guys can excuse my rather erratic work schedule lately ... :(

And Sabaan still has some upgrading to do! ... Though there is only so many times a guy can write The Flesh is weak and keep a straight face. Might try my hand at someone more outgoing ...

But first, let's go and burn some Stealers!

We would have to have a strict screening process for our next apothecary....!

I'd pay to watch that show.  I can just see Helbrecht bursting into an office with two castellans:

HMH: I just got off the vox with the big man and he's not happy, you two clowns get out there and crusade someone!

Castellan Starsky: You got it Cap'n

Castellen Hutch: Yessir

@Xin, you say "flesh is weak" maybe try "despiser of meatbags"?  Put me down for Chapter 2 as well.

It's Stealer killing time!

Sabaan does not despise meatbags. That would mean an emotional response and that would be weak and fleshy. ;)

Really dig the internal monologue thing... have to reign myself in there or every gun battle descends into a study of Medusan Culture.

Might go full Chacharodon next time. All grunts and the odd bit of Latin. Less need to describe how awfully inferior and distasteful everyone is. ... After they stop him from wiping the floor with Akkad's traitorous behind. that is! ;p

Now that'd be interesting to watch Xin... would you have that Chacharodon going tactical (some fun shenanigans to be had there), devastator (duel of the big guns) or assault marine to get in there and really sink your point teeth in?

Edit:

I think for episode 2, I might have Tyber dabble with his marksmanship, his chapter is known for skill with both bolter and blade after all...

Besides some fun things in his chapter advance table, like TWWB + Gunslinger + Mighty shot = amusement with double pistols.

I have not given that much thought gamewise. I usually try to get a concept first and then work from there.

I also feel I should be filling my placeholders before I stray to far ;)

Nothing brilliant on the Chapter tables and have to hit Rank 3&4 for anything useful on the Specialities table.

MR.

My first thought is, Bolter Drill is pretty good and available to you from the Codex Chapter Advance, +1 RoF all the time when using any personal bolt class weapon in semi and full auto is nice...

Also Astartest Weapon Specialization (Heavy Bolter) off of the general Space Marine advances might be good too, never eat more than a -30 to hit when using it.

Both of those are avaiable at rank 1

True, but my Chapter Attack Pattern (Imperial Fists, RoB) already gives me Bolter Drill and I am certain they don't stack - I think it very explicitly says so in RoB.  AWS is good, but it ties me to the Heavy Bolter (which is a great weapon and can use Spec Ammo to be sure) but I need to be targeting something exceptionally difficult to hit for more than a -30 anyway due to range and RoF and if it's *that* hard to hit it's either 1) Something I'd engage closer or with another weapon, 2) Not bother engaging at all or 3) Has more Dodges and Jinks than I can ever land a round on it anyway.

There's Stalwart Defence, which looks good on paper, but isn't, Cleanse and Purify, which doesn't really help with Hordes, which is my main target focus and still doesn't do anything against high AG, Double-dodge Elves.

Rank 2 gets better with Iron Jaw and that's it.  Combat Formation is garbage since I have to pay OP prices for Int boosts, Deadeye shot is -10 to called shots, which I can't do with a HB anyway, Crack Shot is garbage, +2 to critical damage when I'm already murdering whatever I hit and Die Hard is redundant because I don't die from blood loss because I'm a Space Marine.

Hot garbage as the Cousins across the pond say.

All fair points, perhaps try and persuade CM to let you take an elite advance at a premium?

Just as an example, Storm of Iron (page 127, core) would be just devastating with Akkad... (also, good book, it's where I got the concept for the Astartes with two power swords from)

At the same time, knowing that Akkad has seen it all and done it all before, a good role-play tallent might be "Wisdom of the Ancients" (page 129, core)

I'll see if I can bend his ear into Target Selection or Technical Knock...

EDIT: Storm of Iron is absolutely phenomenal, have wanted that since forever. I'll check out WoTA, nice idea.

EDIT/EDIT: Just had a look at it - it's kind of like Stalwart Defence - it's great on paper, but I don't feel it's worth a fate point.  Roleplay wise, it is again a good think - but game play wise I'm not feeling it...  :unsure.:

I never said it was good mechanically, just I thought it was a RP fitting thing for Akkad... a better mechanically version of it is from "First Company Vet" on page 132 of RoB: "Battle Hardened"

I mean mechanically a good deal of it is what WoTA should have been, specifically, the sub abilities of Seen It All Before, A Familiar Foe and Flashback...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I got where you were going and I agree with you completely.

MR.

I know I've said it before MR, but there are time when I wounder what FFG was thinking when they plotted out how the classes work in Death Watch... Some classes are loaded down with things that border on useless while some have crucial useful abilities locked away to very, very late in their trees, only to have later supplements come out and render some of the uniqueness of the classes up-ended... I mean if you take a Devastator and pick up the Champion template at rank 4, you get access to most of the abilities of an Assault Marine, but sooner than the Assault Marine can get them.

Can't disagree, absolutely - they are completely all over the shop.  The only reason I can think of was that some of these specialities were introduced to keep the book series/sales going, hence the awful scattering of the enemy types.

MR.

Well, don't get too excited to abandon your characters just yet! (Also, be wary of proceeding without an apothecary!)

No worries.

Unless there is abmajor hick up, I am sticking with Sabaan.

Of course..if episode 2 is the team sent to investigate what became of Team Blavkthorn... all bets are off ;)

Why would they come after us? We've not made any deals with Xenos.... (yet.... maybe?)

I think he means when we all inevitably die.  Just what you'd expect from a xenos collaborating fatalistic Alpha Legionnaire Iron Hand.

Well so long as he doesn't suddenly start adding pink to his armour and rocking out on a space guitar, I'm good.:biggrin.:
