Just a quickie:

Is the one from this post:

The remains of the Dark Lantern painting and some wood from the frame.

I would imagine this would be with Akkad's possessions on the Xenocide (if not confiscated).  Going through his stuff might provide some interesting narrative.

MR.

Hi all,

So, after Mojake's questions about adapting some rules for his big axe, I was thinking about Titus' Huntsman-pattern Bolter again. Now, fluff-wise it's just one personally modified gun. Rules-wise it's currently two, a Godwyn as part of his standard kit and a Stalker as his Signature Wargear.

Although that works (and I'm happy sticking with that if that's what you prefer Mol) it feels a bit... clunky? In particular, there's the issue in the Core book of 'reasonably' carrying 2 basic guns at once (even though I find that a slightly silly problem, given that the weight of the two types of Bolter added together is still less than a Bolter plus a special close combat weapon like a Power Fist or Thunder Hammer, and is still HALF the weight of ANY of the heavy weapons? :D)

So I was thinking, could I use the cost I paid for Signature Wargear to instead create a simple upgrade to Titus' Godwyn profile to represent what his Huntsman does? I was thinking something like:

'Huntsman' Astartes Bolter:

Basic

Range: 100

RoF: S/3/_

Dmg: 1D10+9 X

Pen: 4

Clip: 28

Rld: Full

Wt: 22 (seemed about right, heavier than a standard bolter but not quite combi-weapon or storm bolter weight)

Special:

Tearing

Precision Killer: When used in single shot mode and shooting is done in combination with an Aim Action, the Huntsman gains the Accurate rule and increases its range to 200m.

So no real changes to a standard Godwyn except adding Precision Killer, and because this rule would only be in effect on single shots and requires at least a Half Aim to gain Accurate, Titus can't run around doing anything unreasonable like letting off Accurate Semi/Full Auto Bursts! In fact, as far as I can see, this wouldn't actually be ANY different in terms of what he can do already by just having both the Godwyn and Stalker and picking which one to shoot with... but it gets around that annoying guideline of not carrying two Basics at once? (Unless I'm missing something else that would make it OP, please those who know better let me know?)

I know none of this really matters, but little stuff like that bugs me and I've always liked working out my own rules solutions/mods to character creation. Anyway, I'd be happy to hear what people think?

Lysimachus

To me this looks like a Boltgun++, my first thought is to either reduce the RoF to 1/-/- or 1/2/- and reduce the clip size to maybe 18 or 20. This way it has a strong downside to the normal Bolter to offset the very powerful advantage of having accurate and increased range.

Ungrateful is the wrong word. Vorkys is just annoyed by the inquisitor and the lack of information available only confirms his disdain for inquisitors like him.

Lysimachus - I'll need a little time to think - given that we aren't entirely at the arming phase yet, please hold off!

Komrk/Steel: Looking forward to seeing you leading your brothers into the fray!

Astartes already have quickdraw, so the character is effectively giving up ammo capacity and the stalkers silencer to avoid carrying multiple basic weapons.

As far as I can see it is a strict downgrade from carrying a both a bolter and a stalker together, as an astartes can freely switch weapons during their action.

Eh, Tyber is grateful for the task, he's just angry that he's shouldered with two things he has a real disdain for.

A Chaplain and an Inquisitor.

Can't really fault him, tbh - I'd also hate being second-in-command to a human raisin. :tongue.:

I've just updated my placeholder. As for the points redistribution, I went back to my stat sheet and realised that I purchased Tactics (Orbital Drop Procedures) for 500 xp instead of 200. Together with the refunded 500 from Forging the Bond and the 50 points I had left previously, I've got a total of 850 xp to spend!

With these, I'd like to purchase a Simple WS advance - I previously mentioned wanting Boros to be no slouch in melee, so I wanna bring him up to WS 60 eventually.

@A.T: Hadn't considered that, you'd be losing the clip loaded in the Stalker, wouldn't you? So strictly speaking a nerf, but it just makes me happier to properly follow the 1 basic weapon thing so I don't mind?

@Steel: Oh, it would def be better than your standard Godwyn on its own... but he's paid his 500XP for Signature Wargear, so it should be better than basic equipment?

Anyway, I'm happy do whatever Mol prefers, will leave it with him!

@ Lysimachus that 500xp could be a quality indication like it's on its way to being master crafted (like Tyber's arming sword) or custom sights on it. I was looking at it as something that could be requisitioned by anyone, so if it were to be bolter ++ then it would need to be priced between the Stalker and the normal Bolter, but that is really hard to figure out sometimes as a lot goes into what the requisition cost is on something.

Oh of that I have no doubt A.T. it is a downgrade from two guns, but when you look at it directly compared to a basic bolter, it makes you wonder why even take a basic bolter.

In this case he has payed full requisition for both guns individually. It's only come up as Mol prefers characters to not be geared up like fps characters (or I suspect more of us would be finding 10 requisition somewhere to squeeze in a 'backup' missile launcher:tongue.:)

LOL

Well in all fairness, I have kind of loaded down Tyber, but I put thought into where he carries everything:

Each hip has one of his two swords

On his waist near his belly are both pistols

Grenades are positioned between the swords and pistols.

Ammo pouches are past the swords, but before the exhaust ports for the jump pack.

Oh, damn, right AHP, I've got to cash in on that.

Ugh, it makes a huge mess of my exp expenditures if I do, I think I'll forego the refund, and just save the bookkeeping headache.

Are you sure? You could make it easy on you and just hold on to the xp for now, spend them later at lvl 4. It's a decent chunk of what you'll need if CM gives you the go-ahead for going down the champion route!

@CM I'm considering swapping the Sound Constitution purchase I detailed in my previous OOC post for Hatred (Chaos) or Hatred (Aeldari), as Chaplains generally thrive on hatred. Per Helgrim's backstory, Hatred (Chaos) probably fits better, but he is a xenos-hater. Thoughts?

Oh I know, but it's just icky to do the math as I still have to spend that xp on the steps I did to make the math work out for him to be rank 3.

It's like 400xp before rank 1

400 xp before rank 2

500 xp after rank 2

The problem is, the things I'd want to spend it on (Crushing blow / lightning attack) are both around 1k xp and are rank 2 skills so I couldn't swing them either way, so I'm good.
