These look surprisingly decent on medium quality in our printer after spraying bright gold. I have a (hopefully) AI scale Orion queued to print tomorrow.

Well my images were rotated when uploaded and I can't keep them rotated correctly in the gallery.  :(

The Custodes vehicles are done, they're still blue tacked to bases so I'll need to clean up the bottoms.  I started working on 7 little Rhinos printed at about 7mm scale because that seems to look right next to a Reaver.  It's a 40k Rhino with the square door that someone created for Epic, the model has very exaggerated, chunky details so it looks nice at tiny scale.  Some will be Iron Warriors and some will be Fists, I love having opposed forces like that.

Tried to rotate the images when uploading, I don’t know why this is suddenly an issue but we’ll see how it looks.

Got some work done on the marble panels, I’m not happy with it but my skills are limited and I need to finish these in this lifetime. They’re varnished for a shiny look but I’ll probably have redo that if I spray the models with matte varnish. I have to print more Rhinos and some Landraiders but I like having IF and IW because they hate each other. I tried my hand at detailing with a micron pen but the tip doesn’t really like a painted surface.

Progress.

Spent some time on Thingiverse and on Tinkercad messing with objects to print.

I’ve a pair of Reaver-sized nuke cooling towers, they’re way smaller than real life but maybe these are just tiny temporary reactors below ground.

Then I took a 40k scale generator meant for Necromunda or something and deleted the rivets so the scale wouldn’t be obvious. The side walls were bare so I took a dynamo or some other circular thing, chopped it in half and added it to either end to add detail.

I’m laying this out on a piece of hardboard from a $1 clipboard and making sure at least knights can pass through it. The LotR movement trays look like open water treatment tanks. A little blue and some gloss varnish, viola.

I’ve actually been to an open sewage treatment plant and it’s terribly gross smelling, far worse than you’d think.  Tanks of open sewage are aerated so bacteria grows and eats the solids then falls to the bottom. The water is pumped through successive tanks repeating this process till it goes to cisterns like that to be chlorinated to kill the last bacteria before being pumped back to houses.  Fun fact: you’re not buoyant in the aerated :censored: water, if you fall in you’ll sink and drown in what looks like frothy milkshake but reeks like a swimming pool sized toilet bowl.

Aaahh, Papa Nurgle sacrificial pits! :biggrin.:

Great work altogether, the custodian army is impressive, I really love the titans, and the terrain ideas and execution are great as well, love the generator. Remove the dynamo, cut it in half along its length and you get nice buttresses for a fortified wall.

You should definitely look to add a resin 3D printer to your personal tools I think, you would get even better results.

Yanked out some Chaos knight spears, cut off an unassembled flamer, cut off some jewelry chain, and grabbed some blue tack to mock up an ursa claw for my Ember Wolves.  I have 3 traitor Warhounds primed and returned 3 Reavers for 2 boxes of Warhounds and few extra weapon sprues for conversions so Ember Wolves with converted harpoons will round out my traitor titans as their own maniples.

I'll taper the flamer barrel and spear shaft to fit in 10mm of thin tubing to make a barrel for the harpoon then figure out where to mount the chain spool.  C&C?

So I had a bunch of lizardmen spears set aside for this and I can’t find them anywhere, hence using this. Lizardmen spears look great m but these look Chaosy as a second choice. Best case scenario I find the lizardmen spears and cut these apart.

It’s always Christmas for me.

I ordered some FW stuff for fun, everything is taking a bath in Diet Coke - a tip from an experienced GW builder who swears by using soda to dissolve the release agent. After my first set of guns appeared to take primer okay but were hard to paint I soaked them in Purple Power to strip the paint then Diet Coke, resprayed them, and they appear to work okay now.

Now on the intriguing part: the Telemon’s Iliastus Culverin would make a really interesting quake cannon...

Granted you’d need to build up the mounting surface and magnetize it to a Warlord bicep but that thing looks cool.

I'm new to AT so haven't seen your thread before.

Saying that, great work on a couple of great forces.

I must say that I'll be doing a gold scheme too; I want an AT scale of my WarHound and I may make it the normal scheme, especially since yours look so good en masse.

Thank you, my progress is super slow because I'm doing so many things at once.  I'm still working on guns at the moment but I'm really itching to get going on my Order Sinister psi-titan.

BTW have you all looked at the weapon options on the full sized Warlords in the FW books?  We're missing a ton of Warlord options including carapace plasma guns, vortex missiles, and melta cannons!  Also there's an arm option for something called a Saturyne lascutter, that might be something similar to the "lightsaber" the 40k Questoris special character knight has (that wolf guy).

I just read the short "Ember Wolves" story once more. From the way it is written I infer the right arm is the one always equipped with the ursus claw. "While the Warhound Titans of the Ember Wolves carried different primary weapons for tactical variety, the right arm of each was mounted with spear-and-cable weapons system, designed to ensnare and bring down greater prey."

I found this 40K size conversion, which is quite nice

https://adeptus-dad.github.io/2019/01/08/ursus-claws.html

and this AT size one on shapeways

https://www.shapeways.com/product/6VWN5C722/ursus-claw-for-mars-pattern-warhound-titan

I like yours, maybe add a "roll" of cables underneath that connects with the actual cable. What are the other spear tips you have available?

I just reread that story too and saw it’s the right arm, and I moved the spool up to the front of the flamer’s tank but I didn’t work on it all. I was spending time yesterday prepping my new resin stuff and mocked up my Telemon for assembly.

Yeah, Diet Coke works pretty well. I shaded my four resin guns last night that have been soaked in it and the paint is sticking fine to them now but those were also soaked in Purple Power to get rid of paint. Maybe I should hit these with that stuff too just to make sure.

Cool, I’m saving them for when I finish at least one Legio.

Just a little update. There are elements from the old beetle back Warlords I love like the cylindrical apoc launchers and I have an unassembled Valkyrie with these:

286813A4 F14D 437F 9D9A 36DD30864397

4195C673 76F8 49A2 B989 54D4873E5BC8

3FD83DD7 BDFB 40F9 89B6 FFFFD615AD0C

They aren’t magnetized yet so it’s just gravity holding them in but the yellow bits are 3D printed that I measured to serve as a mount and I need to find my Dremel to finish drilling out the empty tubes before spraying. The Custodes titans should date back to the Emperor’s first agreement with Mars so over time I’ll probably circle back to convert some more weapons to look like older patterns. I have plenty assembled so this force can be truly playable soon, just need washes and highlights.

I’m reprinting my megabolter turrets in higher quality as the last batch didn’t come out well and I don’t like the over/under look of the FW pieces. I sprayed thise missile launchers and another set of megabolters before hopefully getting some white laid down tonight.
