The new inks are really weird to work with, they’re sticky and dry very quickly. I also should have done the bronze and leadbelcher details because they’re almost impossible to touch up but I’m impatient.

 

That’s the dark blue, the tassadar blue is amazing in person but it’s totally sold out in my area.

Exellent work, Brother! I like the Knights. For myself i still don´t know what to do with my Knights. I have 23 (40k) Knights of Taranis. And that´s the one and only house for me. But i still struggle how to paint them. post-heresy red to have a contrast to the Astorum Titans or pre-heresy blue. But it feels like to be too much blue.

And I already thought that was a lot lol.

 

I really want to play vs an all Knight Household. Curious to see how it will turn out. Hopefully it will not be ALL about the Acastus.

 

I still think a building heavy board will both help the other Knights and mitigate the Acastus. We will see.

For me personally a board with lots of terrain is always more enjoyable to play on. I hate playing on planet bowling ball. I prefer having to move, having to make choices of going this way or that, having a fire lane to take advantage of or avoid, etc.

Got some more inking done with the contrast paints, just a few touch up points on the main body of the force then I need to finish the panels on the command squad. After that it's touching up, washing, and highlighting all the metal and then it's on the Acastus knights. Maybe I shouldn't pick them up until I finish these guys to force myself to get it done...

Worked on the command banner, all of the knights so far have their colors blocked in. Gotta clean up trim, shade metals and recesses still then do highlights and heraldry.

 

 

 

Last night I started using thinned light purple contrast paint (don't remember the name) and some Gryph Charger Gray (a desaturated green) on the titans to tint the gold.  The green doesn't really show under this lamp but I'm ready for black shading and highlighting with Auric Gold.  Once I finish shading and highlighting the exoskeletons I can marble the red then I guess start the guns?

Do you think the bodies and barrels of the guns should be brighter than the exoskeletons or match them?  I see a lot of people matching them and I don't know, painting paralysis is one of the things that's kept me from finishing projects all these years.

I think the bodies should match. I can see the barrels being different because of material used, heat effects, ect. but I don't think it matters if the barrels match as well.

I spray all my sub assemblies with leadbelcher and cant be bothered to change the guns. Looks fine and feeds my laziness.

I used a much brighter (and cheaper) spray than leadbelcher for my guns.

I use a Rust-Oleum metallic for terrain. It's pretty bright but once you wash the shine can be knocked down. This arena terrain was done with the cheap paint and came out pretty nice for what it is.

I love how flat and even it goes on, great coverage and it's not the shiny reflection you see with other metallic sprays.  The contrast paints go on really nicely if you see them in person and the best part is that it's only $4 a can at Walmart!

Dude, I'm trying!  I'm such a slow and unmotivated painter but I'm really trying to knock this out.  I had a few more ideas percolate for my traitors while painting these...

you say "6 Questoris" twice, is this a typo, supposed to say Armigers(and if so, are they also a set of 6, or is it a different number?), or to denote the FW variants from the full plastic GW kits?

Lol no I was referring to 2 full Banners of AT knights. Not even the full sized ones. Like 20 little AT knights.

 

@thewarriorhunter - did you use any basecoat before using that rustoleum ? I could use that kind of shiny

Oh wow! What's the complexity like, roughly as complicated as a Warhound?

The legs are a couple of pieces with four panels, the guns are several bits, and the body is straightforward. It’s an easy kit but you have to be careful cleaning off vents because they’re in very visible spots.
