Kill Team: Ashes of Faith (Inquisition vs Chaos Cultists)

Recommended Posts

GW has been inconsistent about whose upgrades make it into the dex- Corsairs did, Legionnaires did... I think Pathfinders did too.

My hope is that when 10th hits, ALL of the upgrade options make it into the dexes. I also tend to really like it when this results in multiple unit entries- so for example, the Elite unit has the option of including the upgrades, but the Troops version only includes options for Leader/ Special Weapon Trooper/ Heavy Weapon Trooper. This is best for factions without a lot of models, and the Imperial Agent types that need the flexibility.

Phobos Marines, for example, should probably just have the KT specialist options in the base unit, because Marines certainly don't need MORE datacards.

I love the set (both sides). My bet is that it will work as a gateway game, released along with the Imperium Maledictum (new TTRPG) which provides nice minis to represent player characters and some of the foes

IM is sooo good! It's a shame there is *such* a gap between it's digital release and the actual physical books, though :(

Will this be another Killteam where legit fans cannot get their hands on it as they made only 5 copies...

The hype then nothing....

Yeah, I doubt I get the release, but I'll get the solo box after I suppose.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oof, pre-order two weeks after I ordered Gallowfall, that's a bit too close for my bank account's liking

Pricing is going to be a big factor with this, I will be very surprised if it's under £100

That’s not going to be an issue unless you are an influencer, almost zero chance of securing a copy on pre-order day.
GW have spared my bank account the Lion model, book and assorted marines and now the Gotrek novel!

As I've said before being on good terms with your local FLGS helps - that was the way I managed to get Soulshackle and Gallowfall. I appreciate that not everyone has an FLGS however!

What do you guys expect lore/narrative wise? Would this be similar to all the other Mii-codexes that come with the Kill Team sets or more narrative?

I am curious because they emphasize that this has a lot of narrative so I wonder how it distinguishes itself.

Quote

Kill Team: Ashes of faith provides a lengthy narrative campaign focused on a group of these operatives and their attempt to purge a whole planet of a malignant Chaos Cult.

I'm already seeing posts on social media that flgs are getting so little stock that customers might as well not bother or they'll go to raffle. I REALLY hope after leviathan drops we can go back to normal stock levels for other stuff.

Sure 40k is the big money maker, but this is making me just not pay attention to GW stuff anymore. Can't get it anyway.

Ihope that in addition to the bespoke campaign system, the rules for Spec Ops campaign play are still include- specifically, I hope that assets for both teams are included. Because we have been told there are territories to capture, they might use the territory system instead of assets- so normally each team would get 3, but for this campaign system what they might do is have a deck of 25 territories, and each team can hold up to 3 at a time.

I am expecting something similar to the Streets of death Campaign system in 8th ed's Urban Conquest. This allowed you to generate a city by randomly arranging 25 territory cards into plastic 5x5 card holder and then you tracked which player was in control of each territory using reusable stickers (Sound familiar?).

Urban conquest was good... four territories had special missions and rules for terrain that would appear in that territory that would confer the ability to use a small selection of terrain strats if you controlled that particular objective. The issue was that only 4 of 24 territories had this; the other territories were painfully generic.

Tomorrow's article should be about the campaign system- looking forward to that.

With a Saturday Preorder, the game will be out for a month before the new edition drops. There will be at least one White Dwarf article in support I hope; I'd have liked to see this extended over an entire season so that we could soak up months of WD supplementary material, but unfortunately it's campaign in a box, not a season.

Also still hoping that we might see a 9th ed 40k download for the models in this set just in case I can't get behind 10th.
