Watching more how to play vids and it looks like a really fun game to play, maybe more than most GW games

I think that 3k points and 30% allies as the standard sized game will be abandoned/not picked up by a lot of people though

Can see a lot of people doing 1500/2k and 30-35% allies to fit Titans in

2k-3k games with all Titans and Vehicles or 70% titans looks a fun idea

I think that 1500 is about max before we get more units.  I have 2 starters and 1 of each vehicle add on box (not air support) and I have some great 1500 point army options.  I could see 2000 point games one a we get some more options.

Looking forward to things starting to arrive soon!

I did almost the same except 2 kratos and 3 baneblade boxes. I already have planes and titans/kinghts. I think that I can reasonably do 1.5k pts games with multiple builds for each army.

Of course, It will be better with all the upcoming boxes. But I think that I have a nice backbone of both SA and SM. (maybe some more infantry later, at least 1 infantry box). I'm so impatient to get all of this: sad thing: ordered all of it from UK to France, at wayland which ships late and the shipping is soooooo slow (I wille get all probably 10 days later).

Whether you have flyers or not seems to make a big difference to fleshing out armies, Im going to raid my mothers attic for some 20 year old Thunderhawks :) and cardboard buildings

I'm doing it. Time spent hobbling is never wasted time.

But I'm not going infantry heavy for my Marine force unless GW releases a TDA sprue. So I'll only have a few to do.

With the way the current infantry sprue is set up (Tacticals+Plasmas+Missiles+Assault+Termies+Contemptors) i think thats unlikely, it would require different molds.

Since this is a specialist game they might eventually put out resin kits and those might then be specific units and/or Legion Specific,

We can be pretty sure there will be additional infantry kits in the future since the Imperial Fists special rule talks about Autocannons and Plasma Cannons on Infantry units which, looking at HH, can only be more Heavy Support squads in addition the the missile squad we already have.

So its either another infantry kit like we have now with multiple different detachments inside or a heavy weapon squad kit with multiple different heavy weapon detachments.

If its the first it will likely just have two bases of Tartarus on there in the same way we have two bases of Cataphractii now, but if its the second a full box of mixed terminator armour so both Cataphractii and Tartarus and maybe even Terminator command squads is possible.

Also while I don't think we will see different levels of commanders like Praetors, Centurions or Consuls any time soon, a Terminator command squad is something that is certainly possible and pretty much the only way to get another choice into the HQ slot. (Maybe also the command rhino)

So I'll bet on something like a Terminator company box in the future with Tartarus, Cataphractii squads and Terminator command bases

Models with autocannons and Plasma Cannons will most certainly be 2 parts like the ones with Missile Launchers, hence very likely alleviating/avoiding the issue of excess plastic.

Looking forward to see the models and very eager to get my hands on the few things I ordered at launch.

That seems like an absolutely massive waste of time, especially when many folks will eventually have hundreds (if not more) of Astartes on the board at once.

There's only 2 maybe 3 "problematic" sculpts in the marine side of things. And you don't even need to use them all. So all in all you're looking at 10 maybe 20 of these chopjobs at 5 minutes a piece. Easily done.

This ties up with a lot of the commentary I'm reading from people playtesting the rules, 1500-2000 as a sweet spot for a 'regular' 2-3 hour evening game.

Speaking of releases, these were previewed in August. Each box is about 2000 points

Theres also the Legion fast attack box of bikes, jetbikes, minispeeders, big speeders

I know what they say about hope, but absolutely any of these would be great. Especially if we get Mk III armour for some of them.

The issue is how these got approved at all. Not how many hours of mini micro surgery i will need to do to make my 'premium' minis look ok.

Dont get me wrong i am not too bothered. But i am also printing out replacements for all the bad sculpts, this does not make me likely to buy the extra infantry box i was originally, i dont mind paying GW prices when the quality is there. But here? Printer goes brrrt AND they look better then real deal AND i can select armor marks AND i get more options AND its at 10-20% of the cost?

I could print the tanks, but i am getting the originals to support the game, but the game needs to support me back and these infantry minis do not. Forget the 2 hour shift with the hobby knife.  How they managed to get the findlier auxilia out better then the main unit of their main army remains a mystery to me.

In a 3000 point game you can have up to 900 points of knights and/or titans. Are these boxes really just there for people to start AT, or do you think they’ll make them a valid primary army?

There's also the option to change your lists sometimes you know?

No need to play the same list until the end of time

Speaking of variety, there is already a fair amount of talk on the FB community groups about people bringing in the Scouring*, Badab War, even 'alternative' Dornian Heresy and the like.

A few of us are looking at porting over Xenos rules down in the Legions section of the forum (please come and join in if you have any thoughts!)

So just because we have a rather narrow window of events in the 30k timeline presented officially and with new book releases, that should only be a guideline IMO, and this is a toolset to explore other eras and settings if you feel the urge.

*Technically the original game was 'scouring era' as it was set immediately after the death of Horus! So there we go..

I strongly suspect Knights will officially get full army treatment down the line, im not sure Titans will, there is the superior game AT after all, but then im sure folks said the same in old epic and yet i helped playtest the Titan army for armageddon :D

Ignore this man. Buy one list. Glue everything. Never change.

Once mech drop secutarii are pretty much 100%, and then you will be able to field a full titan army.  Likely the mech knights/armigers will be IN the main mech list. Meaning that they will not eat you 30%, or mech might increase the 30%-50% if its just pure titans being taken.

I cant see a PURE titan army ( as in just titan engines) ever being 100% but a lore friendly titan legion list with titans, secutarii and support elements? Yeah i would say its near certain at some point.

Edit i am picking up my box tonight and cant wait to get my hands on the tanks and rulebook, new warhound weapons too too.  Game on friday should be fun even if we get half of everything wrong haha.

I fully agree that when the Mechanicum army is started they will likely have at least nights in the main list.  The problem with running heavy on Titans is the lack of being able to take objectives.  Sure Titans can kill everything and destroy buildings, but holding objectives is not their thing.  But with some Secutarii and some other Mechanicum troops they could be really awesome.

i really wish the starting armies had been Marines and Mechanicum.
