I had a big thing written out about how I let players have free will and make their own choices, and I won't take the blame from anyone at all for the choices made simply because they are bad and I allowed them to happen.

I had this long string of erudite and compelling disappointment about people not quoting the whole PM, where the whole PM says: 'I can't remember you mentioning to me you were actually going to do that in the first instance, but it's in play now, so sure, go for it.' and how I find it offensive that a Player might omit such a line which proves the bug was a Player invention, and the comm-leach was a Player invention and both were perfectly valid because both were IC legal.

But, I think I've distilled it.

So, now, I'm going to do what I should have done in the first place.

PLOT TWIST!

Son, that's a rookie comment. You gotta get them comments grown up.

Watch and learn, boy.

That takes me to 12 Corruption which I believe is a mutation, and I'm currently unaligned. I'll keep my additional XP unspent for now as I wasn't really up to too much villainy this time but we're just getting warmed up.

I'll took 5 wounds in the process, so I'll incorporate that into the story of how I got a nice new cloak. Shame about the bloodstains though.

Soooooo...is the campaign over?  We all die in a fiery ship crash?

No, I wouldn't do that to players. You had clues as to Valex/Iscario, but not enough was made of it. I had planned a slow build-up of evidence until my hand was forced. Besides, death by fiat is naff and amateur. This is just so Valex can get away without the inevitable:

'Can I use my superpower/bionic leg/armpit tentacle to trip him up/stop him/fight him etc.'

I don't believe in killing players offscreen, nor do I believe in preventing Players from having a chance to defeat a problem. I hope I've mentioned that a few times by now?

Generally speaking now:

Players are free to post their reactions to it, the betrayal, the humbling, etc, and then it goes to cliffhanger ending for the next part.

One thing that is over - Kraggan is gone. If he appears again, he's an NPC or a corpse.

The reason for this? There is no going back from a killing.

I am sparing all the Players from that, using a tool I had in place for something else. However, this should be a clear message that your choices are yours.

Reckon we got under Torun Valex's skin a bit, lads? I think we might have touched a nerve.

We should be so lucky. Alas the torture must continue.

Well gentlemen, you have until the end of the day to put any replies in before I do my wrap-up consolidation. Once complete, I will be asking a Moderator (Mr Lysimachus being the likely candidate) to lock up the IC, OOC, and Data threads.

I thought up a wonderful exit for Kraggan on the way home. Unfortunately it was after the GM posted.

—---------------------

He wondered. Had he just been fitted with an explosive device?

I will be taking the Adept,+ he nearly spits the word, +with me. I need to pull him apart and get my locus-seeker out of his leg.+

Now we know

I mean...I'm assuming that Valex's plan will come to fruition, and we're the survivors of the Razor's Edge crashing on Bounty.  At which point, we're hunted by the Inquisition.  So the crew will be liquidated no matter what.

No. I want this wrapped, so Valex will take everyone with him. We can assume that Rakash and Atesh scan the crew, and cull whoever remains that is compromised...if this particular cliffhanger is resolved.

If.

See that? It's a big 'if'.

Yes I would say a big round of applause is in order for @Mazer Rackham, mighty is he, and all of the other participants of this game/narrative. We have quite the cast of villains and also-villains, and it has been delightful becoming lost it. Kudos to everyone!

Well, I was totally taken in by that. I think I'll have to read back through the IC to see the clues to Iscario being Valex. When did he switch him out?

As to the ship crashing, I very much doubt anyone is surviving if it does crash. From looking stuff up for crashing the freighter, I'd say it's a safe bet that an escort crashing from orbit is a multi nuclear bomb event, possibly even a planetary extinction level thing?

Anyway, I'll try to get an IC post in before the end of the day, but if we can't do anything at the moment, I haven't got anything particularly clever to add...

Not as many cues as I would like, he was meant to be a much longer term plant. Jaina would have asked him about his voice, because her hearing is superb, and she'd have spotted him sooner or later. Likewise a few others. It was always touch-and-go with Rakash around, but the resistance bonuses were significant. Let's just say that moving a body is a lot easier when yo're transferring medical equipment.

When you boys were keenly getting modded up, I was thoroughly happy.

Spoiler

EDIT: You would have also found out that the signal from Jaina telling you the Imperials were on their way was false. More surprises are up my sleeve.

Well I'm sorry for him being tipped so early and not putting in a Placeholder when he was grabbed.
