The Hippogriff I'm genuinely in love with. Centaur is great but I am slightly mad my wish for a plastic Centaur got monkey's pawed like this. Not a bad model, but c'mon!

I wonder what role the half track fills since the chimera exists, same with those odd wheeled guard vehicles that came out a few years back...  More bloat?  The mini wheeled Autocannon thing looks cool out there.   It'll be interesting see where they fit I to the codex.  Excited.

We're taking the Taurox out back and shooting it, to put it out of its misery.

KT is more cadians. Literally no one was asking for more cadians.

they look good, and I’m not mad about an infantry heavy stubber finally, but really? More cadians?

way to ruin the vibe.

oh well the centaur, hippogriff and Graves’ ride are absolutely beautiful.

Is graves rolling around with extra commissars or some new regiment? I like the half-track not sure on the hippogriff yet .

They seem to be members of the Officio Prefectus. The retinue are very Scion-esquez which makes sense as the Scions/Commissars were tied together going back to the old Militarum Tempestus mini-dex.

I quite like the Centaur and Hippogryph. I'm mostly irritated because both would of fit well into my Traitor Guard, and the load outs on my half-track are closer to Chimeras.

I don't really care for any of these. Not objectively bad or anything, they just don't spark joy like previous IG vehicles.

The only real criticism that immediately comes to mind is that they look toy-like, with giant blue windows.

All of the styling cues are from the Dorn.

half tracks? greyhound with a puma gun? i love it when an army goes back to what inspired it in the first place... World War 2!

A lot of the guard was inspired by Cold War particularly the Soviets. Chimera is basically just a BMP if I’m thinking of the right vehicle

I do agree they’re moving away from traditional guard design cues, and the hippogriff particularly should have a few more hard corners and edges just like the Dorn should have.

They serve different roles.

The Hippogriff is a scout vehicle, similar to the SM Storm Speeder and Leagues Kapricus.

The Centaur is a delivery box like a Rhino, unlike the Chimera which has always been closer to the Razorback in role.

Thing with Guard is that for an army as Mechanised as they were, they never really had any APCs.

Both the Chimera and Taurox are IFVs, vehicles that can (and often do) stick around the support the Infantry.

The Centaur here is a proper "APC" that has a crew served gun for nominal self defence and is near exclusively designed just to shuffle people around.

The Hippogriff also fills a needed role for the Guard as a proper Light Tank.

Yes the Chimera has historically filled that role (IFVs did evolve from Light Tanks after all) but with the Chimera now being required to serve bus duty we needed a light Tank that doesn't have it's existence hinge on having 10ish random dudes sat in the back.

The weapon options also differentiate from the Chimera somewhat.

If you ask me I would simply send the Taurox together with Tempestus Scions to the Agents Codex.

So send the Guard's Brand new APC (a role they haven't had a unit for since GW started using Plastic iirc) to Agents?

My bad, I meant the Taurox, too many animal names at this point to keep track of, I need my animal sounds book.

I mean chimera is literally just a BMP in space.

but I wouldn’t be surprised if the chimera and the hellhound variants were removed from the next codex.

the hippogriff and centaur fill the roles we’d use them for.

melta version, dakka anti-personnel version, and generalist version, then there’s the centaur for transport.

id prepare yourselves for that.
