I found their comments on Deathwatch to be the most interesting.

Specifically, DW now have actual fixed loadouts.

And it killed legit any interest I had in them as an army or allied force. They left the Deathwatch Terminators untouched but created those monstrosities of unit entries. Unbelievable.

They didn't even improve the basic Kill Team's shooting when I was expecting the Sternguard treatment. 0/10 rules release, the rules writers should be absolutely ashamed.

Dante and Sanguinary Guard are very good, thankfully.

Can normal Captains still be attached to SG? I read somewhere that only Dante can lead SG now but I can't find the referece anywhere.

It’s in the tabletop tactics writeup. Sounds like only Dante can lead them, and then in the sanguinary guard detachment you effectively lose Dante’s benefit as the detachment does the same thing

Ugh GW! They changed the DC loadout options again . I now have an illegal loadout because a full squad can only have two fists and not three anymore.

Most of my Deathwatch like 75% of it is still built to 9th edition rules so more or less everything except the Primaris models are Illegal.

I hope that this turns out to be a mistake have just built 2 new Smash Captains.

Seriously, who would spend $420 dollars on a book?

Its GW plan to beat scalpers, they will charge sclalper prices.

Anyone who spends 420 bucks on something available in much cheaper softcover format is a mark.

That's rough .

I wish GW would start to mould magnet slots into the torso and arms...

That feel a bit strange to me. Hopefully the Jump Captain can lead them because his bonuses would be extremely helpful to them.

One positive is that Sanguinary Guard can function independently very well, and their defensive rule (which is a bit different now) also applies to shooting.

I have two close friends that play BA. One is a long term hobbyist, and the other has just started, so I have a vested interest in this sub faction.

Why is Goonhammer so down on divergent chapters unique units existing?  3 of the Dark Angels special units starts with "i don't know why this unit exists. " and then goes on about cool reasons why it exists.

Also, the name tabletop battles is as bland as it gets.

I think we are gonna be OK. The rule for attaching Captains is actually in the Sanguinary Guard datasheet itself rather than being listed separately.

If a CAPTAIN model from your army with the Leader ability can be attached to an ASSAULT INTERCESSORS WITH JUMP PACKS unit, it can be attached to this unit instead.

As far as I can tell, it was because the unit(s) in question are currently doing really well in tournaments and the update has either made them better or kept them the same... which is still better because of how they now work with the army rules. I think they meant, "Why didn't GW nerf this unit a bit?"

Dark Angels are currently the strongest Marines, and it looks like that will continue to be the case.

That being said, we shouldn't be complaining about their unique units simply existing...

I've skipped out on Goonhammer ever since one of their writers complained that Horus Heresy lore made it hard to justify punching people IRL, but had to check this one. Holy moly, you are not kidding! This has it all.

Rants (RE the Lion): "why the :cuss: does he have five separate Datasheet rules now," "Why does a model with T10 W16 2+/3++...," "How come he’s kept both his strike and his sweep profile," "Why does his pistol get buffed..." ending with "What the :cuss: are we doing here?"

(Even more) Profanity: i.e., "There was a point where this :cuss:ing guy was getting buffed in every Dataslate." (I get it. I was in the military; there is no combination of curse words I have not either heard, or used, often. But at a certain point this just comes across as kids doing swears because they know it is bad.)

Random one-liners: "Asmodai is a Datasheet which exists." "Speaking of rules you can use to play games of Warhammer 40,000, Lazarus is still here, somehow." "Similarly the Ravenwing Darkshroud is a Datasheet that continues to exist."

It all seems very emotional and unprofessional.

Your Primaris squads are probably illegal now too unless you purposely built squads that make no sense for game purposes.

I think Blood Angels didn’t get LAG/Red Thirst because of how it overlaps with Assault doctrine detachment, Tacticus Assault detachment, and the new dataslate rules for a lot of the units which previously benefited from LAG.

Result is i am now firmly in the camp that hopes when an actual codex comes, its a codex and they replace doctrines with red thirst (exact effect tbc), you could then swap out various other units specific rules as desired too.

we shall see what happens!

I really don’t like angelic inheritors though, never have

I have played it and don't mind it but it feels very different to LAG. Red Thirst is the iconic Blood Angels ability and going into battle without it just doesn't feel right.

I’m not a fan of hero hammer and it very much requires you do it

It does indeed. The requirement to spend more points on characters to actually use the Detachment rule is definitely a downer. On a more positive note, rerolls are now much rarer in the codex so rerolling 1s to both Hit and Wound is now a more significant ability.

Most of the Primaris in my Deathwatch are built as non kill team units with the exception of 1 assembled Indomitor kill team. While I did buy the spare Phobos and jump pack kits to make Talonstrike and Spectrus kill teams I have yet to build them as I lost exist in building models for a few years due to working the nightshift makes getting games difficult when you sleep will others play.
