  1. Shame I missed the deadline, but here is my standard bearer. Painting ultrasmurfs yellow feels good. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/100_3313_zpsl9lawqrz.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/100_3309_zpsdbuoed5s.jpg
  2. This guy is my offering, sadly not finished in time for the 1st May deadline (if that still stands) but I'll post an update when finished. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/100_3304_zpsj4mnkjj5.jpg
  3. Here's a nice guide to doing Imperial Fists with an airbrush and washes, from Matt Kane, ex-Forge World: http://m-k-painting-studio.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/imperial-fists-armour.html?m=1
  4. If you want a rich golden yellow, I don't think there's any genuine shortcut to building it up layer by layer, by brush. Yellow is such a translucent colour that the previous layers will always inform the final look. I spray mine black and then apply Averland/Yriel/Flash Gitz by brush... Dorn will be proud of your masochism!
  5. I agree with jeremy, I've been considering mixing the FW kits with plastic legs, glad to see it looks so cool! What is your yellow recipe? Looks like maybe glazes over a white basecoat? Lovely edge highlighting too. Actually I'm switching my theory to Army Painter spray then sepia wash - as the yellow is showing through the Agrellan Earth ;)
  6. Lovely work! I really enjoyed doing my Fists Sicaran. It's great how heavy the damn thing is, feels nice and hefty from all that resin!
  7. Great job, it suits the model really well! Did you use Dorn Yellow as the highlight? I find that's just the right tone - thank you Primarch!
  8. It looks like you've been very busy assembling. Nice to see another 5th Company in its infancy, be sure to share some paint tests when you reach that stage.
  9. My preferred method for doing eyes is to black the whole area out, then do two tiny blobs of white paint either side of where the pupil would be, using a Fine Detail Brush. This usually looks more convincing than trying to paint in the pupil over a white area.
  10. I agree, this guy needs to share his works over at P.N.!
  11. Nicely done, though I can't help thinking an irridescent greenish slime would have been more fitting!
  12. Here's an update of my army's HQ so far: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/HQ.jpg l-r: Morbus the Mech-Lord, Grand Marshal Gresiloth, Alvus Merihem (Sorcerer), Captain Spurcus (Master of the Chosen) And lurching behind them, a nameless terror whose paint-job has not yet materialised from the Warp!
  13. Superb work Gorzag! That looks like a very economical but effective approach to painting. I particularly like your use of the wooden shields on the Rhino - wood really suits Nurgle! What do you plan to add to the army next?
  14. Converted from the Assault on Black Reach dread: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1871.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1870.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1868.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1869.jpg
