Ok, I haven't posted any new images of models since 2019. Since then I have acquired a new fancy air brush - the Iwata Revolution. I have also decided to strip my 6000 points of models to paint them in a colour I have wanted but didn't know how to make it until Turbo Dork released it. I have ordered Vallejo Black Gloss to under coat my models and will be using the Blue Raspberry as the base colour. I will be ret-conning my existing chapter to be blood angels successors. What is everyones' thoughts, should I keep the Sanguinary Guard and Death company in their original colours but slight variation in colour? Anyways, it's about to be a new year and i guess it's time for a new look for my army. Any recommendations on an old gold paint or should I use silver as my secondary colour? Hello to everyone that may decide to follow me on this journey. A little background on me to explain where this is going and why I do things how I do them. I'm a slow painter at heart, with the, let's call it standard, approach to painting of applying a basecoat, shading, highlighting and so on it takes me ages to paint a unit. Adding to that the fact that when I apply basecoats on 10+ models in a row with a brush I feel like my soul is being sucked out and you can easily see why the idea of painting a full army is terrifying for me. BUT, I love fully painted armies. In my whole 17 years of hobby i only managed this feat twice, the first time it was a Black templar army (a weird one since it hade 6 land speeders thyphoon in it and it was almost a gunline, that packed some serious punch tho) and the second time an army for warmachine (other zealots with a penchant for flamethrowers). With the free time getting less and less as the years go by I started a journey of efficiency improvement and I'm now trying to paint a new army and finding my own way of speed painting at the same time. I want to point out that I greatly enjoy assembling and painting miniatures, just not basecoating. I decided to build a loyalist Alpha Legion force to start the process with the end goal of having a flexible force, playable as the different space marines chapter supplements and if needed even as chaos later down the line. Here's a teaser of what I've completed so far. Tactical demi-squad Hecaton. A quick couple of notes, I plan to go back and redo the plasma effect and I suck at taking pictures . Tell me what you think and what you like and don't, what I mostly enjoy of forums is the great degree of interaction with other hobbysts.

Hey there, just had a quick look on the Primarch series' cover artist and found this one, which was uploaded about 2 months ago: Maybe it doesn't mean anything at all and I'm purely speculating but somehow, I got the feeling that the Lion might be the next one after Curze. I mean, he's the one doing all the covers for the Primarch series. Him posting a Lion piece, which really looks like said covers is a bit too much of an accident, right? Cheers, Kel

Welcome to my painting log where I will document the rise of the 5th Assault company my 2020 army project, a mobile strike force of Imperial Fist Primaris marines that have become waylaid in the Dark Imperium. As the years passed and no lines of communication with the Greater Imperium or chapter command could be archived they have started stretching the laws of the codex Astartes in the name of necessity. Part of this project is to to build a army that goes against the grain of the current game Meta, learn new painting skills and put in even more attention to detail than I have done in my Black Templar army. This is the test marine and I'm happy with the results and with that I found a way to paint yellow that works fairly quickly while producing a nice result. I will try to keep the the Gothic theme of 40k in this army without going overboard while focusing on the sci-fi industrial aspect of the setting. Part of this is that all of my marines will have the MKIII shoulder pads from forgeworld. Next update will feature either a jump pack captain or Eliminators.

Hi there! Starting up my WIP thread and starting with my current main project. A little preface, I like my marines to be battered and dirty. I am not a god tier painter, and this is a tabletop force. I have not played Loyalist Marines in a very long time, I have been watching the new Primaris releases from afar and have began to appreciate the fact that they emulate the old legions with their massed battlelines and specialist squads, and so I embark on an adventure into this new army. These are the humble beginnings of the Mastodons Astra chapter - This is the first line squad they're nearing completion and maybe I'll name each squad after their sergeants later on. The Mastodons Astra are a Semi-Codex Compliant - They are of Imperial Fists stock and are known for their heavy infantry assaults and light but still very much power armoured skirmishers & snipers this makes them highly effective city-fighters. They lack heraldry (as the paint is normally stripped from their armour within the first minutes of war). They're going to have a lot of infantry with Dreadnought support. They are not however a pure Primaris chapter. Ground pounding Intercessors marching ahead of the 2nd Captain and his Sternguard supported by Dreadnoughts and Incursor marksmen is the plan. More to come soon - I'm off to finish these lads and prime more mini's while the weather permits.

Brothers and Sisters of Dorn, the time has come for me to finally share my crusade. After many years of purging xenos, witches and heretics my boys in black need to see the world wide web. ++ Background on me ++ I've been playing 40k since 2003 and I started by playing chaos and then white scars briefly as I wanted glorious melee units but I wanted them to be loyalists. I bought my first Black Templar box circa 2008 and found quickly that i lacked the discipline to paint a whole army. For years my models lay sidelined and I occassionally came back to the hobby to add new lumps of gray plastic. Now I've returned with many evenings where I'm enjoying winding down by painting or reading new rules and fluff. ++ Background on my force ++ Motivated initially by a dislike of painting white shoulder pads, I wanted to have a force of entirely Veteran Black Templars, painted as per the 5th edition codex. I speculated on having a small crusade made up of only the Marshall's best. Whatever fluff based reason, the main force of my army is painted as veterans, with the exception of some vehicle pilots. My army also includes a small number of marines and other units who specialise in shooting, and to justify this I've painted their right hands crimson to signify respect for the devastating way CF use the holy bolter as many members of the crusade spent time deployed to support a nearby crippled company of Crimson Fists and have been inspired to adopt their fighting style, bringing depth and character to the way my crusade does battle. Currently my force consists of the following. - 30 Marines with Close combat equipment, 3 meltas, 3 powerfists and 5 with bolters. - 5 magnetised Castellan/Marshall/Sgt equivalents, who can be armed and equipped in any way. - 1 fixed bolter Castellan. - 1 Jumppack Chaplain - 1 Rhino - 1 LRC - 1 StormTalon - 1 Techmarine - 1 Ironclad Dreadnought - 1 Drop Pod.
