  1. edit: now a proper project blog! edit 2: update to better reflect project scope (ever increasing it seems...) edit 3: now we're including Thousand Sons, guess the brackets were prophetic? edit 4: now the Thousand Sons can fulfil a detachment they get their own topic in the Thousand Sons section edit 5: Daemonettes have their own home too, also updated warband scheme at bottom of post After getting a taste for Kill Team my gaming circle got into some talk about collecting small kill teams from new armies as a fresh modelling opportunity. Whether or not this comes to fruition is another matter, but I thought this would be the chance to tick a few boxes of mine; namely to get my Slaanesh on and experiment and push my modelling and painting abilities. So here I am to scope it out before anything gets started! I'm familiar with Marines, but having not encountered Chaos for a while I'm a bit out of touch with the finer details of what's going on aside from the obvious. How does Slaanesh fair these days? What about daemon units? I'm not too fussed about the other gods at the moment, if I did end up using their stuff I might counts-as them as something Slaaneshi as a good excuse to hone my converting skills. This is all sort of unplanned so you'll have to forgive the rambling nature (or more rambling than normal?). I quite like the idea of whites, pinks/purples and maybe some black and gold but I gather this is fairly typical of Slaaneshi stuff? I'm not set on anything yet other than liking something bright, maybe with something in the pinky-purpley range - all my armies have green on so far, could that be good somewhere? As I said I really want to get outside of my comfort zone but I also want to do something I'd like. I crafted a quick CSM painter colour scheme up, behold it's probably generic glory: Well, everyone starts somewhere right? Painting a halved scheme would be something new too, I'm discounting quartered because I'm slow enough painting as it is While I'm sure that the army has a good chance of growing into a full one given time (isn't it always the way?) I'm only focusing on a Kill Team right now so I'd prefer to start with suggestions based on that first I've not given any thought to backgrounds, names etc yet either but I'll put some time to this if it ends up having legs. Thanks in advance Edit 5 new scheme image with more accurate colours and bits:
  2. Been a couple years since I've played 40k, or even modeled anything. I came back to the B&C and saw Maverick Prime's conversion challenge and thought to myself: now that's a capital idea- and a heck of a way to get back into the hobby. A supply runs and hours at the table later and I remember how hard conversion work is. But I digress, here are some extremely work in progress shots of my chaplain for the "Litanies and Legends" conversion challenge. Comments, critique and criticism are encouraged and appreciated. The base model is Ivanus Enkomi of the Minotaurs chapter from the Forge World model company. The head has been replaced with a metal chaplain helmet, the feet will be replaced with the armored boots from the same chopped up metal model. The minotaur/bull head on the chest has been shaved down and slightly green stuffed to resemble a human sternum (figured I might as well considering the chest armor is modeled after a rib cage). A side image of the chaplain conversion work in progress. Just a small detail to note but I green stuffed on a small squareish carpenter style nail into the purity seal. Wax can only adhere to a surface so well, especially something like armor- having it physically nailed into the surface of the armor makes a little more sense in my opinion. According to my fianc
  3. What would people use as Gabriel seth:s armor mark? I think phobos is close but gravis is too much. Anything i could use as base to convert upon? Inspecting Reiver kit (that we all love) i noted the combination of metal gear styled pistol and knife holding pair, that could be used as base to hold his Blood Reaver in most natural pose wiht minimal effort. as arms, backback and weapon are separate bits, there ain´t too much sawing to do, unless you want certain bits from the torso and legs. Slap me with your ideas.
  4. Greetings fellow children of chaos. I have been a long time observer here and an even longer hobby fan, alas my time in the hobby has yielded little results to show for it, due to being afflicted with the attention span of a hobby obsessed goldfish for most of my early years in the hobby. The major highlights of my collections are a terribly painted assault on black reach ork force from back when I first picked up a brush and a small collection of word bearers. However I have always found my mind would throw ideas at me no matter the budget or painting skills I possessed, resulting in a huge collection of notes and ideas for different forces over the years. One collection of ideas that has always stuck with me though was to collect a force from each of the chaos legions, bar the black legion who I never truly found to be my taste but recently have started to like a bit more. This would have remained as little more than an idea if it had not been for the recent chaos release and the introduction of contrast paints, now giving me the ability to produce painted miniatures at a rate that can maintain my attention and provide pleasing consistent results. As such, I have started this topic to endeavor to produce at least a small force for each main traitor legion, possibly a small detachment of black legion and some small groups for any other chaos projects that take my fancy. Once I finish each legion I will probably return to each with the occasional addition to their forces, as well as possibly some key renegade factions like the crimson slaughter. Hopefully with my new drive and the feedback of the chaos community, I will be able to keep up my own personal long war.
