Very nice work! Lovely colours (you must have a helluva steady hand for those stripes). I particularly like the eyes of the raptor holding up heads. A nice, subdued glow. Love the spikes radiating from the jump packs too.

I had my first game of 6th on the week end. I managed to come away with a win. The Contemptor was awesome!

Thanks mate! With the release of the new Codex I'm sure there'll be more regular updates to this thread. The only problem is that the new Chaos minis look much more like WBs than IWs. Maybe we'll see the return of Erebus and his homies :)

Loving the updates and I agree the new Chaos minis have a definite Word Bearer style to them. I'd like to see you work on bearing the word again. You, Kikkala and RazXIII have always tempted me to start a WB force. It may happen with the new starter set. :P

I gotta say, I love so MUCH of what is in here, the word bearers started off awesomely and then it built to the iron warriors so well. But the thing that took my fancy the most was this...

I was going to use the regular contemptor autocannon but then i saw the this bad boy sitting in my bits box... how could i resist.

Thanks for the kind words mate! The forth coming codex has got me pretty excited with the thought of more Word Bearers.

 

I was pretty happy with how the autocannon turned out and how it looked on the dread. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of new weapons we'll be getting with the new codex. There are sure to be plenty of conversion opportunities ;)

Thanks mate. Unfortunately I might not be painting for a while because of uni work...

 

I'm not a fan of the GW Masque. It is my lease favourite sculpt in the Daemons range after the Fiends (I'll be building my own Fiends at sometime). The Avatars of War minis has a few issues though, ie. scale and fragility. I'll probably end up converting a masque from the Dark Elf Sorceress <_<

I need some suggestions for how to make studs/bolts to add the GS trim. Any suggestions or links to tutorials would be appreciated. As alway C&C is always welcome :P

Nice GS work.

As for rivets/studs I use Grandt Line stuff which Machinepriest shared with us all on his Charcharadon thread. They come in various sizes, the picture is the hex bolts but they do rounded rivets as well.

Awesome, I have been looking for somewhere that does rivets for ages! : D

Thanks mate! Its great to see some more work on your IWs.

The head on the raptor is a SM scout head. I think its from the Scout Biker set.

 

The gun-metal armour:

Black under coat.

Boltgun metal base coat.

Mithril Silver dry brush.

Badab Black wash.

Devlan Mud wash.

Watered down Chaos Black painted directly into the recesses and around the edges of the gold trim.

Finished off with a Mithril Silver highlight.

Pps. I just had a look at your Dark Mechanicum Thread... pure unadulterated win! Are you going to be using them as allies for your IWs?

A really small update...

 

I've been pretty busy with uni and football lately so my hobby time has been severely limited. The new codex and the FW HH book have got me pretty excited, decisions, decisions... I've got a feeling that the summer holidays are going to be pretty hobby intensive :lol:

 

I just started work on the Screamers, can't wait to use these guys in a game. The pictures don't show it well but there is more contrast between the purple and blue than you can see.

I just bought the new codex so I've been feeling inspired today!

 

I ended up building a new Obliterator instead of studying... time well spent.

 

I'm pretty happy with how he is looking but I feel that he still needs a bit more height and bulk. Maybe I'll give him a servo-arm or something else on his back.

Thanks a lot guys! I've been thinking about how to bulk the Oblit up a bit. If I can't get a servo-arm to work I might try adding some exhaust pipes to his back. I'll see how I go for time today :)
