Wow! Thanks for all of the kind words and the helpful suggestions. Much appreciated :)

I haven't started on the Praetor yet, but I've made a start on the last three Palatine Blades.

On another point, what would you guys think of the idea of rebasing my III Legion army? I've been considering rebasing them in the style of the recent test minis that I've painted up.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN3892_zpsdwba0fwx.jpg

I wouldn't really be adding much weathering to the actual minis, although I would most likely add a small amount of weathering to the vehicles/dreads/mortars. So what do you guys think? It wouldn't be the first time that I've rebased an entire army (I rebased my entire 3k Warriors of Chaos army in a much more involved style than I'm considering withe the EC).

Nice! I love the new praetor! I would definitely go with white or a mostly pewter scheme like your palatine blades

Thanks, bro! I'm pretty happy with how the praetor conversion turned out. Glad you approve. I'm just worried that the white scheme might look a bit messy with all of the detail that he has on the armour. It would definitely be a good challenge to keep the white armour neat and crisp.

Love the Praetor, kizz! I vote traditional over the white scheme. What about painting the body armor gold and then rest of it purple? Would be more ornate to signify his rank/status? Whichever scheme you decid, I'm sure it will look great.

Cheers,
Ray

Thanks, dude! I recon that he'll probably have enough gold on him as it is. I also really want the Aquila on his chest plate to stand out.

How about you do a straight up reverse scheme to your normal EC?

So, white as the dominant colour and purple as the secondary colour? It certainly works as a scheme.

: Noctus Cornix
Ho' boy.... This fella right here looks like a work of beauty. only thing I feel I must point out is, atleast from this angle, he seems like he has no neck. I genuinely cannot wait to see this bad boy painted up...

Thanks, mate! Yeah the torso is a bit deceptive. His head is actually fairly high up compared to the rest of his body. It's the high gorget on the chest plate that makes it look strange. You can't see it in the picture, but the wings on the Aquila are up above the actual level of the chest plate. Hopefully once he is painted up it will be a bit clearer.

Oh man. This gon' be good.

I like your idea of inverting the white and purple scheme.

Thanks, bro! I'm looking forward to painting him up.

Wow, what bits did you use for that guy? Also, definetly go with white armour, it makes them stand out so much more.

Thanks, dude! The legs and arms/shoulder pads are from Lord Commander Eidolon. The torso if from the Phoenix Guard Terminators (I had to do a lot of knife work on the torso). The cloak/backpack is from the new B@C Chaplain (the part of the cloak over his right shoulder is greenstuff). The Paragon Blade is an Eldar Ghostsword from the Wraithguard kit (the Lords of the EC were famous for collecting and using trophy weapons taken from defeated foes). The head is from the Palatine Blades. The pointing hand is from the Stern Guard kit. He also has some grenades and a High Elf sword added to his waist.

Looks like Eidolon with either a seriously converted Phoenix Terminator torso, or a greenstuff press of the Phoenix chest decorations.

Spot on, bro! The torso took a bit of work to get right.

Wow, baller praetor!

While the white scheme does look good on your terminator praetor, I think it would make the PA praetor too garish, since his armour is adorned with much more ornaments and trinkets. Your usual purple would form the perfect background for gold and silver details (The chest-aquila just begs for a nice coat of gold!) and some slightly more decently coloured things like the pterugees and daggers. However, the cloak could be the perfect opportunity for a nice white area, maybe with a decal or two?

Hope you can make some use of my ideas^^

Whatever you do, it will only get better :smile.:

Thanks, bro! I like your ideas regarding the colour scheme of the armour. At the moment I'm thinking that I'll probably paint the cloak in a deep red, but I've also considered painting it black.

Nice work on the Praetor. I for one agree with @The Observer when it comes to the painting.

Thanks, mate! I'm leaning that way with the painting scheme too.

How about a split color scheme? Either halved or quartered?

That's an interesting idea, but I feel it would be better suited to the Legions which have a more 'traditional' style of livery, such as the Ist, VIIth, and XIIIth Legions. Plus I don't think I have the confidence to pull it off on such a detailed mini...

I am a big fan of white on EC's - as my T&L vows will show!! However, I agree that a white breast plate might not be the way to go, I think it'd make this guy look too much like an Apothecary, especially given your existing primus medicae has the same base torso. I think the white armoured Praetor worked well because Moloc's torso is pretty special....

I can see a white helmet working well, and shoulder pads. Perhaps this is a case of less is more....

Thanks for the input, mate! I'm looking forward to seeing what you paint up for the T&L.

That Praetor is awesome. Is that Eidolon's legs and a pheonix guard torso?

Thanks, and yes to both :tu:

The new praetor looks really good, I was thinking of using the Phoneix Guard torsos for PA models is I was to make any any more EC. As for the White, maybe just have the cloak as white, would frame to model but not make it look to much like an Apothecary.

Thanks for the suggestions, bro! The Aquila on the Phoenix Guard looks so great, I just had to use it on the most important mini in my army. looking forward to seeing some more work on your Palatine blade.

Awesome work once again dude, but that praetor is something else man. Can't wait to see him painted up!

Thanks a lot, Dantioch! I'm definitely looking forward to painting up the Praetor. Hopefully I'll have the patience to give him the attention he deserves.

Evenin dude, hope you're well.

With regards your quad mortars did you fully assemble them before painting or did you leave the front shields off? I've finally got some but unsure... Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Ps, praetor looks epic :smile.:

With the mortars I fully assembled them (except for the crewman) before painting. It probably would have been easier to paint them without the shields, but I nearly always fully assemble my minis before painting.

Looks great, I really don't like the Eidolon model and you've made good on it. As for colours, have you considered a metalic purple? I've been intending to paint Fulgrim in that way and thought you could do a fine job on this guy.

Thanks, bro! It's always nice to hear that you've helped someone to enjoy a mini that they don't usually like. To tell the truth, if I had my time over again (and finally got around to buying an airbrush...) I would probably pain the entire army in a metallic scheme. I'm a big fan of metallic schemes, but I want to keep the Praetor consistent with the style of the rest of the army.

Ps. I you haven's seen Athrawes' amazing metallic Thousand Sons over in the Age of Darkness forum, you should definitely check them out. They're inspiring!

Thanks for looking ;)

Well, yes and no. While I would love to see more marine on those dusty bases, it just doesnt fit my imagination of how your ECs are so cleam. But maybe try it out with a single EC first? Like a test model, so that we can see how the purple and orange-brown work together?

Thanks for the feedback, guys :)

Yeah, a test mini would be a must. I'll have to start working on one using the new B@C plastics. Like I said, I'll probably keep the weathering pretty minimal, maybe just a bit of dust around the boots etc.

Always a pleasure to see your models, they are so expertly done. Looking forward to seeing all the Blades together.

Thanks bro, glad you like how they're looking :)

I wouldn't change the basing on your Emp's Children at all, it looks great and really fit the 'clean' theme you have. In fact how do you do those bases? Are they resin?

However...

As you're thinking of changing it, and yes, even asking the question counts, I would say go with whatever you feel is best. It'll look great either way :)

The Brotherhood of the Palatine Blades is complete! I'm keeping the unit at eight strong so that when my Anvilus arrives from FW they'll be able ride in it with the Primus Medicae and the Praetor (who I have just started painting). These minis were heaps of fun to paint and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.

I'm really liking the Palatines and your new Praetor. Quick question(s), how do you a) get your weathering powder to look so piled on and :cool.: how do you get such clear photos???

Thanks, bro! There isn't really a special technique I have with the weathering powder. I just brush it on with a medium sized brush. It naturally clumps in grooves and crevices. With the photos I use a digital camera on the 'close-up' setting and I position the models on a large pice of white paper, and use a lamp to light up the minis. I find that the flash on cameras overexposes the minis so a lamp is much better. There are much better ways to take pictures of your miniatures, such as with an actual light box, but I find that my technique is usually adequate for my needs.

Thanks, mate! I made the bases my self use plastic-card, greenstuff and a couple of other things. Here are some pics of what they look like, before and after painting :smile.:

Expect some WIP pics in the next few days :)

Looking good Kizz. saw them on face book. looking forward to whats next

Thanks, bro! Glad you like them :)

Wow. Just.... Wow. They're so beautiful. The crisp paint job.. The posing, the detaling. And those bases...

Thanks a lot, dude! Like I've said before, they're such nice minis that they're easy to put a bit more effort into :)

Beautiful marines as always!

Thanks, mate :)

I started out an English major in college, and I'm still coming up short with more synonyms for amazing, omigod and precision-bordering-on-robotic-and/or-witchcraft.

Imma have to start using dramatic hashtags.

Hahaha, if you start using too many hashtags I'll have to start posting my pics on instagram instead of the B&C :P

Holy hell man those Palatine Blades look insanely gorgeous! They look excellent as a group as well. I wish the NL had such awesome models! Keep it up bro!

Thanks, bro! Yeah, the Emperor's Children are blessed with really great minis. Then again the Night Lords are blessed with really nice rules, so I suppose it all comes down to which part of the hobby you prefer. The XIII Legion also has much better conversion opportunities which I'm pretty jealous of :P

Thanks for looking ;)

The Anvillus is assembled and undercoated... I'm not looking forward to painting it... I'm also part way through assembling the Lightning and it's looks like it's going to be a much nicer mini to paint.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN4026_zps8vjpck1t.jpg

Everyone's favourite diorama king, EdT, generously sent me a bag bits and I've been playing around with some of the goodies in question. The VIII Legion Praetor/Delegatus is slowly starting to take shape. I haven't fully decided on any of the bits yet, but I'm happy with where he is going.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN4027_zpstpxnsdiu.jpg

I'm also trying to de-chaosify this shield for him.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN4028_zps0bgzxnxv.jpg

Those models are too nice.
What's in those bags?

Thanks, bro! I got two Medusas, a Lightning Strike Fighter, and an Anvillus drop pod for the Palatine Blades to ride in :)

The Palatine Blades are incredible man, the Emperors Children truly have some awesome looking models. Looking forward to seeing what's in those bags!

Yeah, we're pretty spoilt for nice minis in the III Legion :)

That much resin always makes me happy, even if the recipient is a filthy traitor :teehee: .  I love the Palatines by the way, especially the one on the far right of the picture.

Hahahaha, as Kurama said, I ain't no Traitor (yet). Everybody (on FB and on here) seems to love that particular Blade which is funny because he is probably my least favourite paint job of the lot :P

He's no Traitor !!!!
@_#

Thanks for having my back, bro! It hurts to be called a Traitor :P

Oh boy, oh boy!

Yeah, that was my reaction when the FW box arrived!

I can see an anvillus pod at least...

Correct! It wasn't as difficult to assemble as I thought it might be, but I recon it's going to be a real pain to paint...

I'm pretty sure I've spotted a LR Proteus, too. Though I could be an idiot :biggrin.:

I wish I had a Proteaus, but unfortunately I don't :(

Thanks for looking ;)

AWWW YISSSSS. Praetor looks fab so far. I don;t know how I feel about your DE-chaosifying of the shield, but hey, who can complain with the rest of that mini. ;)

Also: how did you find assembly of the Dreadclaw? I have one and I haven't even finished building it I got so frustrated. Simultaneously binge-watching season 1 of Narcos also had something to do with that, but still. Did yours properly fit?
