Nice, is it just me or do their legs look extremely thin?

Thanks mate! The legs on the Tartaros are a bit thinner than on the Cataphractii, and the bulky upper body makes them look even thiner. Hopefully once they're painted it will be less noticeable.

I actually think for EC you should use some rather french sounding names. A kind of latinised french names, perhabs?

Eagerly looking forward to seeing these beauties progress :biggrin.:

Regarding names, I went down a Romanesque route for my own III Legion. Look at famous generals, emperors and other individuals that spring to mind. I must say the Primus Medicae looks an awful lot like an "Agrippa" to me...

So far, for the few legionaries that I've named, I've used ancient Greek and Roman names, such as Atellus and Nicander. I've also been looking into ancient phoenician and Assyrian names. I'll have to have a look at some French names :tu:

I've done some more work on my ETL vow. I didn't get too much done on the Medicae (I only applied the washes), but I did manage to get the terminator champion up to the same stage. I figured that if I painted the two character mini together I'd be able to put a bit more time and effort into them (plus it's much more time efficient). The rest of the terminators will be batch painted afterwards.

Almost finished with the Primus Medicae! I just need to highlight the white and finish off a few small details. I've also just started working on the base.

Don't hate me...could you add one final highlight to the purple? Just a small one to make it pop that little bit more. You seem to have it on the metal work but I feel that with this being a character that one extra step will help him stand out.

Thanks for the constructive criticism, bro! I've added another highlight like you suggested. It's pretty subtle but you can see it fairly clearly on the minis left hand. What do you think?

That's incredible man, everyone of your marines are like individual characters fits the Emperors Children perfectly :biggrin.:

Thanks, dude! That's exactly what I was going for (the individual characters/heroes). Betrayal mentions that the warriors of the EC Legion were noted for their individual heroism and excellence. I wanted to try to show this through modelling and painting, so it's great to hear you say that :)

awesome work on that Primus Medicae kizzdougs :tongue.: can't wait for the other phoenix terminators!

Thanks Atia! The Primus Medicae will be accompanying a unit of ten terminators (regular, not Phoenix) and a Praetor.

Loooving it.

Thanks, bro!

I NEED MORE TABLES TO FLIP!

:tongue.:

As an advocate of the Primus Medicae, and thus being devastated when he was relegated to "support" status, I am very much a fan of this!

Yeah, the Primus Medicae fits the EC fluff really nicely. I would probably have used him as a support character anyway (so that I could use a Rite of War), but it would have been nice to have the option in smaller games.

Superb work once again, Kizz. He looks perfect. :smile.:

Thanks, mate! That's what the III Legion likes to hear :)

If I had any more likes today they'd be yours

*grumble* bloody god damn *grumble grumble* bastards skill and paint *grumble* so much better.

Sorry what was that beautiful as always

Hahaha, thanks dude! :)

Just finished the Primus Medicae. Next up, I'll be working on the terminators.

Out of curiousity, what piece did you use for the narthecium? I was planning on making a Tartaros primus medicae (doesn't make sense for the healer to be encumbered with cataphractii after all) and thought I'd be stuck with the deathwing one, but what you've got there works.

If it's not the Deathwing Narthecium then it's probably the one from the Grey Knight Terminator kit.

Much better. Now...add the odd dot of off white just to the tips of corners

Haha, don't torture the perfectionist in me :P

The narthecium and spot light is from the Grey Knight terminator set. I just had to trim the shoulder down so that it would fit into the smaller tartaros shoulder pads.

Wow, Medicae's looking great!

Thanks, dude! :)

That Primus Medicae is on point Kizz!

Thanks, mate! I'm loving the paint job that you've given your IX Legion warriors :tu:

Okay the more I look at this topic, the more I want to build an all Terminator army. Please, stop. :tongue.:

The sculpted motifs look great, man. Very nice work. You're also making me like Tartaros more than Cataphractii plate. It's certainly more posable.

Haha, I was originally going to build an all terminator force, like a III Legion Deathwing. I was planning to build them so that I could either run them as a Pride of the Legion force or as a Heroes of Fenris 40k army. At this stage I'm going to diversify a bit more, but the core of my army will still have a strong terminator presence (once these five are done I'll have a unit of ten plus a couple of HQs). The Tartaros is great, but it looks very plain compared to the Cataphractii. If I wasn't doing Emperor's Children, I would probably have gone with the Cataphractii instead.
