First up. Today saw some new stuff for my Iron Warriors arrive from Forge World!!!

The new Forge World breacher seige kit is really great. I got another four to make, as I am aim to take this unit to a event in July. But overall I will be making this fourth squad of Chaos Marines into a 10 man unit with Melta, Autocannon, Champion arm with Power Axe & Icon make me fearless (can not roll dice!!!).
I'm also going to call the squad - Blitzkrieg.
I've got plans to make a Rhino transport for them soon. I would like to try convert the Rhino model so it a little bit more heavy armour to tie in more with the background from the FW Heresy book on the Breacher & how I view there role in my army background/look wise.

So this unit will be use that a event in July, Throne of Skulls September & two local tournaments later this year.

Also I recently complete my Battlefleet Gothic Iron Warriors force.

I am useing the 13th Black Cursade list so I can basicly have a whole fleet of plastic models, as I am not keen on full metal models/general try avoid build them.

My fleet for 1500pts is

Mallus - Hades
Tormentia - Slaughter
Terebra - Carange
Demens - Murder
Oblivio - Slaughter

Sagittae - Devastation w/Chaos Lord & Chaos Space Marines
Pyrobolus - Murder
Fulmens - Hades

The campign started on Thursday just there & my Iron Warriors saw there first win against a Imperial Force that 500pts, I had my 1 Murder & 2 Slaughter?

So right now I'm just getting more parts together so I can get the new squad built with there Breacher shields. Also a few friends have said they got a few unbuilt Chaos ships for BFG. While the campign is 1500pts/stick with what we started in our force. It will be nice to have more ships/change my list about from what I learn from my wargaming club campign, also it just always cool to add onto any force so you got more chose more than anything else. Also as said in the past I use BFG parts in my Iron Warriors force, as you can see on the first IW carry the Breacher shield, I use parts on his backpack as a redio/comm/keep in contact with the army overall.

I've also to convert up a Chaos Lord in Power Armour for the event in July, so current working out some conversion idea. Also seen Forge World new Horus Heresy Destroyer unit, I would not mind seen what there like/maybe use parts toward converting my lord

Update

Another small update. I've finish painting the first memeber of the fourth Iron Warriors unit - Blitzkrieg, while watch the Hobbit movie. Again photos have been taken that my painting stastion due to on going work in the house

The shield. Idea is this is the unit first into the trench/seige, it always going to be close quater fighting/bolter fire/useing the shield as a combat weapon.

As said before I just need another few packs of the Chaos brass etching which I will pick up next week & start building the rest of the unit. Also recently found some more Raptor chainswords from the current plastic range which I think will suit the unit.

But overall I like how the model turn out & how the Breacher shield fit in. Also look like I'm going to need to get my Iron Warriors up to 6000pts, as a friend (link his blog back in Feburary last year) is wanting to try get a game that this leval with his Tau force & more so with his new codex/models. Right now the force stand just around 5524pts, once the Breacher unit made & painted.

The Champion has still to get the wash stage finish for the armour.

Also not sure if this is happen to many people. But I notice the Sepia wash is going cloudy, has anyone else experince this & how have you sorted it out? The pot been shaken & mix, but notice with the Sepia that once the wash has dry it start going cloudy/not sure if it shown on some of the models here?

I had the the same problem with the new sepia had a old pot no problem .Talked to one of the NA crew said they've had no problem.sent me anew pot no problem with this one.

I had some more photos but they all turn out blurry. So I will get thoes photos re-done when I get my next update done, along with some more Battlefleet Gothic as my fleet seen a lot of new ships added to my force.

I'm also hoping on place a order on Monday for the second half of this Breacher squad along with some Chaos brass etching, then it just to gather all the parts I need for the conversion. I'll be building the second half of this unit along with some models I'm currently building for my new (second) Ravenwing force & some other units I am adding to my Space Wolves army to try bring them in line with 6th ed.

It been really good to get some games in of Battlefleet gothic. Warhammer 40,000 is always my favrout game since 3rd ed - I just started the hobby when WFB 5th ed was release & 2nd ed 40k was slow fade/change to 3rd ed. But I would say Battlefleet Gothic is my second favrout game.

Right now my aim to try have that least 2x of each class of ships that can be built from the plastic models. Just I am not a fan of metal models, unless it say shoulder pads, but not things like the old Killer Kan kits.

I've also mange to get a few moment to add another Breacher Iron Warriors, so right now the unit only have 6 models. But I'm going to aim tomorrow to try get the rest of the unit built & ready to paint next week

More Cultist. I'm going to included another 20 Cultist unit. As said the aim with these models is to use them as Cultist or Chaos Guards & being inspired by the Chaos Guards from the Space Marine computer game.

Also just due to a list I made recently & one of my friends wanting a game vs the list with there recent Eldar army.

Fallen Angels - Still waiting on a few parts before I can get the unit ready

Another Heldrake - The very first Heldrake (see photo below this comment) I bought back in Oct..... the chaos gods do not favour this model. In over 30 games I use it, it never arrive until turn 4, which is getting a bit annoying now. While I do have three Heldrakes in total, it mean adding to my army which has been the main thing for my Iron Warriors & the heldrake in my view a great kit to both built & paint. Also ever now & then I do get bigger point games, I think I got a 6000pts game line up against Tau later this year where we are aim on using fully painted models.

Back in 2005 I use to have a Lascannon arm IW who would never hit all game.

I like having each unit having it own sub theme & then for each Iron Warriors to have a story of there own. It help with conversion idea which as said that the very start is the main part of the hobby for me & just bring life to the army when collecting & gaming.

Also yesterday my local GW store held the model of the month painting comp, this month theme being Unit leader's. I enter Champion Bronn Tal, champion of my first unit of Iron Warriors Mk2 version. Mk1 having the Power Fist, Mk2 was made due to needing points to give Lord Narach the daemonic weapon - Axe of Blind Fury for the Throne of Skulls March event. Also allowed me to give Bronn some new trophies base on one of my games during Throne of Skulls Novemeber, when he killed a Wolf Priest in a challenge & ended up becoming a Daemon Prince. It has to be one of my most hard fought games.

Next month will be squds/units, so I think I will enter my Breacher unit.

I've also recent bought a new Rhino for my Breacher unit. But I will have to wait until a few weeks until I can get time to build & paint the Rhino transport as I will be moving house this Friday.
But it will give me time to think up of some idea for the Rhino, I'm going to re-read Angels Extermantius on the bit about the Castellalan Rhinos.

On that note - With the move. One aim is to try get space for a gaming table, pretty much I want to get more games in along with gaming in Games Workshop & my wargaming club.
So I might start a log on this. As well as collecting cool armies, I think it is just as important to have a great looking table along with great looking terrain when gaming.

I just like having my units sub theme & then for each Iron Warriors to be a anti-hero in his own right. It also though some brillaint games that have added to the units background & led to some conversion ideas.

It great during games when oppents start point out that set model/unit & rememeber them from past games.

The breacher kit is really great, as soon as I saw the kit I knew that had to be added into my Iron Warriors force. A bit like the Warpsmith model :biggrin.: Other wise it would be a insult to the IV Legion in my view.

I might replace my Champion of the unit. The current Champion will still be in my army. But just thinking of another conversion & make use of some of the Iron Hands parts.

I've move house two & a half weeks ago. This just mean I can get time back toward the hobby :biggrin.: I got a few new Iron Warriors to add to my army as I have a event on the 1st July, then following that I have a two day 1750pts tournament & then near the end of July I have a one day 1500pts tournament by the gaming club D.W.A.R.F which will be there first Warhammer 40,000 event.

Due to the move I not got a area set up yet to take (that least) decent photos of the models. So right now useing my painting stastion for the photos right now.

One of the first thing to get done was to get the painting stastion, TV & PS3 all set up. I think this has been the most tidy it been since I started the Iron Warrior log two year ago.

I did try out some other idea to try make the Rhino stand out a bit more. But sadily none of them turn out right, so I kept the Breacher Rhino in the same style as the rest of my Iron Warriors transport. But maybe go back & add a bit more battle damnge & go a bit heavyer with the Forge World weather powder.

There still a lot of work to be finish. For this heldrake I wanted to try out the verdigris effect, to try show this as a older Heldrake/age a bit more. I use Sotek Green & the medium to really thin it down to a glaze/wash.
So far this heldrake has been great in the past few games. Not like my first one which never arrive until turn 4 for over 30 games.....

I was not to keen on how the orignaly Champion had look when I started the Breacher unit a while back. So chosen to make a brand new conversion for the Champion. I like the way the power axe has turn out useing the Thunder Wolves power axe along with Power Axe from the Space Wolf spure (3rd ed) & parts from the Grey Knight Ward Stave to make the weapon stand out & more personial as his weapon.
Just help add that theme & to make each Champion in my Iron Warriors force stand out/diffrent from each other.

I will need to go back & re-paint the eyes as well.

I had to recent re-base this Iron Warrior for my Breacher unit. Just the base he was orignaly one would not fit properly into the army case & resulted in the model breaking when I would be going to my local Games Workshop store or gaming club. I think you can see I added some green stuff to the chainsword weapon due to some of the damnge.

As said that the top of this post. My Iron Warriors are going to a event on the 1st July that 1250pts, this is maybe one of the few times I will game that a small point leval. Just for me I general game that 1500pts+ just lot cooler.
So with that in mind it ment some change to my army list & one them to take a Chaos Lord in Power Armour.

I'm adding a third unit of Cultist to the Iron Warriors. As said in the past few updates, the models will also be use if I want to use codex Guards as allies or a stand alone force. So there will be a few models in the near future for Guard command squad & some units in the near future.

First up - As you can see the Demolisher Tank has taken some damnge & bits missing since the move. However I recently mail order the Guard tank spure as there was parts I needed for my Breacher Rhino. So will use the armour plate from that to replace the once missing on the tracks.
For the tanks them selfs. I've just painted them useing the Games Workshop spray gun & blu-tack part of the base coat before spray the other colour. The tanks don't really take long to paint. Just spray the two base colour, wash, highlight & battle damnge. Then once these are varnish I will be adding the Forge World weather powder.

Just I use the Apoclypse backpack which was release back in 2007. I use the Apoc backpack to carry my army when going to tournament, local GW or wargaming club but it given into wear & tear. While the Heresy backpack can not fit the standard GW case, it can carry my Heldrake, codex, army list, dice & template.

Sorry there, had lack of sleep due to being to warm weather wise & was in a bit of a rush this moring. That the list/in order for painting the yellow, so your having to build up from the Averland to the Yriel Yellow to get a solid yellow on the black undercoat.

For the lines, I painted all of these by eye. I'll paint my lines before block the yellow colour just to get a rough guide & then tidy up any yellow just after the Sepia wash stage that been mess up with the Abaddon black before highlight both yellow & black parts of the hazer strips.

I've base the Chaos Icon on the one from the Forge World brass etching & also tie in with the Chaos Icon I've painted onto the Breacher unit. I should be getting this painted tomorrow.

I'm also current painting a Blood Angel trophie for the Breacher Rhino. This is base on my friend Graham army & use part to match one of his models so it stand out from the other Blood Angels trophies I got in my IW force.
I like the Heresy look that this has & in my view help show that my Iron Warriors fought during the Seige of Terra.

I've also replace another Breacher Iron Warriors due to not being to keen on one of the orignaly models

- Iron Warriors for my third unit/squad that slow going down the path of Khorne

Also a while back I mange to get another two of the 6th ed box game chaplains during a wargaming event - Carronade in Falkirk. One being kept to convert a Chaplain for my Ravenwing force. The other one was orignaly going to be use to convert my Chaos Lord for the event I am going to this weekend. However I got another bit & mean I got the third Chaplain model spare. I'm currently thinking of adding a second Dark Apostel/Forge Chaplain to my Iron Warriors & have this one arm with the Flamer (not sure of the name) & because I really enjoy painting the first Forge Chaplain back in Decemeber time?
Try conversion base on the - Vakrah Jal company from the Heresy novel Betrayer.

Quick update

I was down in Warhammer World yesterday for the Warhammer Invasion where a few store ran a 1250pts tournament & been spend the best part of today recovering after arriving back home around 2am this moring. Pretty much left that 12am on the Sunday & then getting three great games during the day before going back North around 1am.

I ended up converting the second Dark Apostle with the burning brand. Converting the model very late on the Friday & spend Saturday paint the Dark Apostle so he would be ready for gaming.

I ended up changing HQ as I had a few pts & just like the idea for this conversion more than anything else. Also it was somthing a bit diffrent & I never really use the Dark Apostle.
It was a good chose that I ended up take the Dark Apostle as during the event I ended up battle Orks for all three rounds of the event...!!! Round 1 saw my Iron Warriors force just 26 models + 3x Rhinos in 1250pts vs 156 Orks in Relic. Then next two round saw Battle wagons & a mix with Lootas or Ork Biker or Storm Boyz? Each list diffrent.

My Iron Warriors also pick me up the Best army award from the event

I'm really happy with this. As said in the past when going to tournaments/events while some people aim for top 10 or best race, for me it always been the army side of things since I started going to events since Conflict Scotland 2002. Though out the years it help give me that push when collecting a army & how painting has change over the years & converting models :biggrin.:

Back on the 27th July, the White Dwarf daily has said my Iron Warriors would be shown as part of the Army of the Month for the August issue of the White Dwarf

As you can guess I been really happy with this. Pick up my White Dwarf last week, I been really impress with the work the White Dwarf team have done with both the article, overall photo of the army & single/unit photos. I'm really greatful for the White Dwarf team time & help.
I think it around 5000pts of Iron Warriors that are shown with 110 models & 14 tanks.

I've been busy getting my third unit of Cultist painted. I wanted these to be slight different from the other two unit of Cultist. The idea is, if I use the codex Guard, this unit will be the Penal Legion. So theme wise I want them to be the unit that infiltrate/setting up traps & engine work.

Also in a game last week against my friend & long time rival Ian. The Icon Bearer from the Breacher unit done really well & has earn himself some new trophies.
Basicly ever tournament me & Ian have went to, we always drawn to battle each other. It became a running joke where we will ask what round do we want our game, only for it to happen, so there a good balance between my Iron Warriors vs his Black Legion & then our Space Wolves armies. So Ian came up to Scotland recently to see family & though we'd get a game in, that my local wargaming club - Stirling wargamer.

Just during the game against Ian Black Legion & Daemonic allies. The Iron Warriors was the last member of my Breacher unit & survive the odd from a assault from a unit of 16? Slannesh Daemon & ended up winning the close combat. I think he deny the witch vs a unit of Horror just after that close combat as well?
I loss the game in the end, but there was very little models left on the table from both my Iron Warriors & Ian Black Legion force.

It been pretty cool how the Breacher are starting to have a life of there own in my recent games. First few games would see them killed before they where able to do anything (new model syndrome).

Next for the Iron Warriors - I'm currently having a look & seeing what I will add next to my Iron Warriors. Right now I have

- 5x Cultist as said above

- 2x Obliterators for my 1850pts list for a local tournament in October (Stirling Wargamer Rapid Fire).

My Fallen Angels unit on hold as the parts are missing in the warp since moving house :sad.:

I'll need to convert up another Iron Warrior Sorcerer arm with a Power Axe. As back in June when I was working out my army list for Warhammer World Invasion & struggle for a HQ chose before I settle on taken the Dark Apostle with the Burning Brand. It was commented about taken a Sorcerer as another chose & something new to try out gaming wise.

There also be a few new Iron Warriors to convert up before I go down to Throne of Skulls September which is in a month & a week time.

I want to add some more Obliterators as they are one of my favour units. Also I would like to add another Chaos Dreadnought, but I think I'll wait until I am down in Warhammer World for Throne of Skulls September to pick up the model :smile.:

I'll have a look though the codex Chaos & see what cool idea I can come up with. As right now I like the codex Chaos & want to try add as much to my Iron Warriors, but also leave some unit out so I can collect other Chaos armies/Legion in the near future.
It just so I got the chose there for games ether for events/tournament both local or Throne of Skulls & so I can also get bigger point games with the release of the new Apocalypse rules

But I felt he was very close to looking like the Icon bearer from my Breacher unit, which I wanted to try & avoid. So since the WIP to the current base coat/wash, I've re-built him so he look for his next oppent for close combat after already slaughter someone. I've added the new model to squad Apocalypse, as I always wanted to go back & add another chains-glave Iron Warrior to that unit, along with the Icon bearer I converted up October last year.

The new Iron Warriors Chaos Marine will be painted tomorrow that my local Games Workshop store.

Also since my last update, it seem the Space Marines have had a new release & a new codex which is due this Saturday. As said from the very start of this topic, one of the reason I re-started my Iron Warriors was due to all the cool new kits release since then & this still stand to today.

A while back when I was just converting my unit of Breacher. I commented I wanted there Rhino to stand out a bit more. I wanted them to be Castellalan Rhinos which can be found in Angles Exterminatius (sp?) - Horus Heresy novel by Graham McNeill. But sadily I was not able to work out anything I would like.

Their main transport, the Castellan Rhino has unfolding armour plates and impact bracing so they can be turned into miniature bunkers.

'The modular construction allowed the Rhinos to be linked together in a chain, forming a makeshift fortified line when materials for more permanent emplacements were
unavailable or a defence had to be fashioned quickly. Four hundred Rhinos assumed a perfect formation outside the walls in a layered barbican protecting the Legions’ line of retreat, while inside, an identical number of vehicles mirrored them. With the perforated citadel walls dividing them, the Rhinos became a fortified bunker complex from which to launch operations within the citadel.

I still be converting my own extra armour as seen with my other Rhinos & also try tie in all the bits you see that the side of the rhino.

The only thing is. I'm unsure which Space Marine trophies to add. I'm currently thinking, base on armies I fought in the past - one possible the Iron Hands as I still to add a trophy base on one my old oppents back in 2005, also Iron Hands is one of the chapter I collect & will be starting a new force in the future once I see what the Forge World Horus Heresy release.

Or there Novamarines base on my friend & current oppent & I've notice there a shoulder pad in the new plastic Sternguard that tie in with there Chapter Icon, I know my oppent has already commented they will start a crusade against the Iron Warriors if they see any more Novamarines trophies.... :biggrin.:

I think the other trophy I got line up are - Raven Guard, Ork, Imperial Guards, Eldar Farseer which will ether be Ulthwé or when I work for Games Workshop a member of staff Jet Bike army I shown a while back. Also look into adding a Chaos Space Marine trophy & Necrons.

So I will be building the model during the weekend once it is release.

I've also got another two new Obliterators that I will be converting & like all other units try give them there own sub theme/background. I currently looking that the Games Workshop web site & seen what bits/spure are like for conversion. I need to get the Obliterators converted this weekend, as I go down to Nottingham in a week time.

I will be getting the new Hunter tank & the one of the box set from family as a late birthday present, with my birthday being this Thursday!! So a great time for the new Space Marine release :biggrin.:

Update

Throne of Skulls September was during the weekend there & as usely a really great event :biggrin.:

I mange to get my Castellan Rhino built on the Saturday/Space Marine release. But I was not able to get the model painted until Monday due to being a bit unwell on Sunday.

Photo taken by the Warhammer World event team on there facebook page. Just I was very busy last week/ I use some of the brand new Space Marines tactical bit for trophies along with the box game Chaplain model. I ended up going with a Iron Hands as a trophies as I not really had Iron Hands trophie on my IW before/hard to make the Iron Hands stand out just as a helmet other wise people think it Templars or one of the other Black Power Armour Chapters.

My Iron Warriors where also up for Army Nominee as well. It was a really hard chose during ToS Sept as there where so many cool armies. I think there was 16+ armies & 8 had to be pick for Army Nominee during the Sunday launch time.
Each army had somthing that made it really cool & as said before it why I like going to events/tournament. Seen all the cool armies, while I may not collect say Tau, there maybe a conversion or the way they base it that help toward idea to use in my armies or when starting a new one. Lot of people commented it was really hard to make a vote.

Same with the Armies on Parade in the Warhammer World store on Saturday, it was a really hard chose to pick one. Here some photos from the weekend (power armour related)
