Have a great rest of the weekend folks, and thanks for looking!

Haven't been feeling very well for the last couple of days-- but I'm determined to make the most of feeling sick; and trying my best to getting some painting and modelling done.

21873113355_d68f293c59_c.jpg

2 of my 3 landraider crusaders as well as the rhino primaris underwent a series of highlights, metallics, washes, etc.  It's not entirely done yet, but progress has been made.  I think the best course of action is going to be focus on 2 to 3 tanks at a time, get 'em done and then move them into storage for now.  It'll cut down on my backlog in a more efficient manner than painting whatever takes my fancy that day (which is what I have been doing.  Good ol' hobby ADD).

21873142865_1731a19a24.jpg

Broke out the Confessors chapter icon stencil I won in a contest a while back-- and this is the end result.  Pretty pleased with it; certainly beats trying to paint it by hand.  If I knew how to make custom decals, I'd do the same thing for shoulderpads too.

Last up, a small project concept rehash:  SAV Siege Mantlets.

Previously, I was content to use the forgeworld boarding marine shields to get the job done.

14227951377_2048f527c0_n.jpg

Decent for the task at hand, but aesthetically a bit boring.  Well, no sense in committing to a unique concept (mantlets) with dull execution.  So...

21250409414_84ea9ef259.jpg

Phalanx warder shields!  Much better, don't you agree?  Now I'll be able to do crazy stuff like individualized heraldry on the mantlets.  Because monastic space knights should look the part, right?

Only one image today guys-- Flickr had a major overhaul on their site, and long story short, I have to spend an indeterminate amount of time to get my photos working again for quick uploading.

That said, there will be a series of big updates *hopefully* in the next few weeks, as I have gotten a lot of work done on my tanks as well as some build progress on other projects.

In the meantime, here is a new Siege Master work in progress I have whipped up for the new Chaos at the Gates event in the black templar forum.

Stay tuned and keep crusading.

There's some truly characterful models in this blog. Magnificent :smile.:

Thank you brother!

Must know where the head and torso on the guy with the phalanx warder shield, please!!  And the torso on the siege master!  Need those bits!

The head is the bare head option from the Reclusiam Command Squad's Chaplain model.  The torso is from the Landraider Excelsior/Rhino Primaris box exclusive to warhammer world. Hope that helps.

Managed to get my photo album back up and working, so here are some more photos I managed to snap earlier today!

It was my birthday a few weeks ago, and so I received a few choice goodies:

22484279109_2f040a4d92_z.jpg

A second unit of centurions, here are close ups of the individual members:

22876437865_3001c6d439.jpg

22887580621_e1b73bfe2f.jpg

A second thunderfire cannon; though I'm going to hold off on pictures until that techmarine gets a head transplant (let's face it, the stock one is god awful).  And lastly...

A FIRE RAPTOR

22887571251_eab5e4248d.jpg

This baby has taken up a lot of my hobby time, cleaning and assembling; but God Emperor is she going to be beautiful when she's done.  And, as a relic of the chapter, I can't help but think she needs a little extra bling...

22887569271_efe35f77fe_z.jpg

And seeing as how those Landraider Excelsior panels don't fit on an extra armour kit from forgeworld, they are being repurposed.  The goal is to fabricate similar looking panelling alongside it.

I got some work done on the first few breachers, I'll try and get some pictures up of them and some other stuff in the next day or two folks.  Thanks for looking!

I apologize for the lack of updates guys-- the preparation for holidays as well as learning the ins and outs of my new job have consumed a lot of free time; what little free time I did have I spent frenziedly painting infantry to get them ready for an Imperium vs Tau megabattle for a Damocles scenario at the local games workshop. I will try my best to get pictures up by the end of the weekend-- in the meantime, here is a picture of my second siege master done and a little extra.

"I was confined to chambers almost immediately upon my arrival to the Confessors strike cruiser Eternal Vigil under orders of the leader aboard, Siege Master Kolya, while he finalized preparations for a ground assault on a neighboring planet.  My arrival came at an “inauspicious” time, he had stated, apologizing for his seeming rudeness as he hurried about. Absently, he arranged for my lodging in one of the captains’ quarters, ordering every amenity to be given to me while I waited for his return. Though wary, I decided to leave it at that; this being my first interaction with the fabled Adeptus Astartes, I was hesitant to wave my badge of office around and make demands.

The following hours would have been interminable, had it not been for the hospitality displayed to me by the various Serfs and Neophytes of the chapter, who provided sustenance for both body and mind.  Between bites of the rather bland food proffered to me by these menials, I gleaned much through their conversation about this chapter and their various campaigns. Though pictographs and data slates provided some enlightenment, it was the neophytes that illuminated me to the chapter’s true nature. In the face of their stories, I do not hesitate to confess, I sat like a child beside a campfire; mouth agape and eyes wide at the tales’ simultaneously grisly and awe-inspiring nature. The more I heard, the more the mysticism of these enigmatic warriors dissipated; and in the ensuing months, it would be replaced by a stark realization. I was not in the presence of angels at all: rather, I dwelt among the predators of ancient folklore—singleminded in purpose, inspiring dread in the hearts of any who stumbled upon them. And in Vasily Kolya, the melancholic captain that had first invited me to stay in his chambers, I had found the Bhogeyman himself."

An excerpt from the records of Inquisitor Zephyrine Blanc

A write-up of the battle was done by my friend Vash, who brought his wolves to the event. You can check that out here:

It's been a busy week, to say the least- and the next few weeks show little to no signs of stopping.  This could very well be the last update of 2015, but the drums of war continue to beat thunderously!

Chaplain "Grimaldus" update:

23273659510_be87b0c7db.jpg

Taking my sweet time on this guy, but I want him to be as close to perfect as I can manage.  Need to sculpt a new piece of stole vestment on the new skull shoulderpad and connect it to the Besagew (from the blood angels terminator kit, with studs left over from the first centurion squad to cover the pinning join).  The crozius head has been swapped out for Solaq's backpack topper.)   My question is, does this badass need a cape? I'm leaning towards yes at the moment, just wondering where to source it from.

SAV assault squads:

23273495360_327b916b90_c.jpg

20 siege assault marines about 75% completed at this stage.  Need to do some mundane stuff like order shoulderpads for some before moving on to final details (eye lenses, purity seals, etc) as well as ordering custom decals.

Crusader squads:

23201387529_5b3f984d9c.jpg

Same deal as the SAV assaults above, about 75% done with them.

Siege Mantlet squads:

22942296993_faa3a4c81d_z.jpg

8 marines down (one of my grav cannons has gone into hiding, couldnt find him for the picture).  12 more warder shields have been removed of their HH iconography, and are waiting for bodies to bear them into battle.

That's it for now comrades, in the meantime- keep the faith and keep crusading!

Mornin' ladies and gents!  It's been snowing something awful outside, so that can only mean one thing: Update time!

Got a vindicator laser destroyer and an Landraider Achilles alpha for christmas-- been hard at work painting them, and now I'm in the weathering stage.  It's my first attempt doing heat staining on the barrels, but liking how it's turned out so far.  I got a hold of a nice sponge brush during a clearance sale at Michael's which is making paint chipping effects a lot easier than before.

20 siege mantlet marines are more or less finished at this point (still need to do some finishing touches like lenses).  I busted out some crackle paint to use on the shields, and am loving the effects.  Taking all those bullet shots would chip the paint a little!

23940722454_29e63d70b8.jpg

I'm using the crackle paint here too, as well as a spiffy new paint set I got for christmas Scale75's Metal N' Alcehmy Copper Series (which is what I used to paint the copper vents on the laser destroyer as well.

Lastly, I built up a "counts as" Vindicare assassin should the mood ever strike me to use one in a game as a 10th company captain for the Confessors:

24201026289_37f61f7a4f.jpg

Semyon often contemplated his lot in life as he calibrated his rifle.  The fact he was a captain of the Adeptus Astartes, a position that many would covet, did not impact that rumination in a positive manner however.  Had he known that the chapter he once felt such love for would purposefully sideline him and squander his talents on the battlefield so he could all but raise generations of new recruits to the chapter while the chapter underwent a series of doctrinal identity crises, he never would have accepted the position.  He lived for the exhilaration of battle, slaying the myriad foes of the Emperor, relishing the caress of the trigger depression against his gauntleted finger.  How long had it been since he had felt that lover-like caress  somewhere that mattered to the captain, rather than in a training regimen surrounded by the mewling pups of recent generations?

Not today he thought, a predatory grin splitting his otherwise maudlin features as he loaded the magazine of custom tailored ammunition into the chamber of his weapon.  He was Semyon Grabin, 'Death's Herald" of the Confessors he affirmed to himself, as he pulled the trigger.

That's all for today folks, hopefully I can get a little more table time in today because I will quite frankly eat my hat if we have work tomorrow at my school, haha.
  • 4 weeks later...

Okay folks, a small update tonight-- been very  preoccupied with work, and with all of the inclement weather and general winteriness; paint and primer takes a backburner until the light lasts longer haha.

That said...

25135433925_cb9afe13aa.jpg

Semyon Grabin is getting painted slowly but surely.

25109079216_7af809781f.jpg

Converting a thunderhammer toting siege master off of the betrayal at calth chaplain model. I'm really enjoying the Scale75 series of paints, the combinations and depths of color make for some interesting metal combinations.

Finally got my valentine's forgeworld order as well:

24839770620_375a509d95_n.jpg

Some rapiers (bringing my total HB rapier count to 3, and my first quad mortar.) Switched the crew around for fun.

And finally, this loveable lug!

25109081956_8205e1c2df.jpg

25017179892_b2c72376b9.jpg

A leviathan!  Gave him a headswap with a red scorpion dreadnought head I had in my bits box (wasn't a fan of the stock head at all).  Now I'm in the process of magnetizing the arms and weapons and trying to figure out what, if any, embellishments I'm going to put on the chassis.  If you have any ideas or input, I'd love to hear them!

That's all for now!

Hello folks, it's been a while since I posted in a hobby blog type deal on the B&C (so long in fact that my old one was archived, haha).  So, I'm back in black Green for the moment!   Captain Semper recently posted a Waaaagh community event, and as I had recently started collecting orks- I thought, what better opportunity to get stuck back in the hobby?

Here's a Red Gobbo I painted up for a contest at the local GW tomorrow:

If you're wondering why he's on such a large plastic plinth-- it's because this little bugger is being put into a snow globe! Will try and get some pictures of him in his wintery holding cell a little later on.  The bullet casings are 1.3mm crimp tubes
