One-eye
There's always a special feeling with your conversions, something that makes them simple but awesome and recognizable at the same time. I don't know how you achieve that, but continue, it's a pleasure for the eyes ! :D
Lorenzen
@death given form: all of the body is from the signals officer that comes with the legion champion model, but yeah its a similarly reinforced "assault" torso to that that kael, the fist guy and the champ are wearing. the head is from the ravenguard command squad. @One-eye: thanks, most of it just comes from trying to get a sense of purpose to their pose.. if i can do it without the use of sculpting, chances are i will and with the vast array of bits and sublte application of a hairdryer, 90% of the resin components will do the job.. the vultures are probably the best example of that, whereas kael is a prime example of the necessity to sculpt pieces. Heretek
These models look really great mate! I think the terminators are the best you've done yet. One query: Where did you buy the Mk 3 and Mk 4 armour?
Lorenzen
everything i have bought is from forge world directly, there are afew bits and bobs that i have made myself also (some mk4 pieces and anon plagued plague marine head.) i kinda had to puthis foot on something.. 3 of the squad were flat footed, i had tobalance it out.. now with kael its an even 50/50 done most of the work on another termie.. apologies for the bad photo, it was taken in a rush. http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/098/d/7/untitled_by_typhion-d60we1o.jpg and i also decided to do something a little different too. http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/098/e/1/abaddon_by_typhion-d60wdct.jpg

Blindhamster
Looking excellent as ever my friend :) really love the assault squad from a few pages back, I'm very impressed with the coversion of the mk2 legs (something i didn't enjoy doing) Also love the command squad - consider some of those ideas stolen :)
Lorenzen
thanks dude, your vanguard were the inspiration behind the work on them (i was lazier than you & just used a hairdryer to repose the legs) i hope to see some more from you (and maybe get a game in soon) your stuff makes me want to improve on my own work like nobody elses. :)
Lorenzen
so i decided i needed to push my sculpting and have thusly started on kael 2.0.. im hoping to get this guy done by the weekender (or at least most of him) so i can get some feedback from a few people. http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/100/c/f/2_by_typhion-d614z1z.jpg the hip armour is inspired by the legion champions and will be receiving more rivet work once i find a reliable way of producing uber small rivets (the little white bits out of a britta filter aren't working to well when theyre that small.. (about half the size of the ones on his loincloth) *edited for better picture* Edited April 10, 2013 by Lorenzen HardCoil 1 Back to top
death given form
Ye effing gods, man. He looks abso-freaking-lutely menacing. That snarl is terrifying. Will you be giving him a similar weapon to the original Kael? I'm liking the up-armored version of his Mk. IV plate, it has a sense of weight that suits the Death Guard perfectly. Really looking forward to seeing him done.
Tyrannicide
Looks twice as good already! Love the snarling expression. That said, I was a little let-down with his chainsword on the first model. I think you can do better.
Lorenzen
thanks man, i was hoping to get across the artificer armour vibe without the bling, just well made custom armour. he'll be getting his chainblade again, though i want to try & make it from scratch this time if i can (good practise plus i wouldnt have to buy seth again.) Blindhamster
as I said on chat, he's looking superb, very impressed with your new rendition of him! and you simply have no choice but to do a tutorial for the tabards good sir
death given form
You should probably just do a tutorial for pretty much everything.

Lorenzen
ill make sure to do a tutorial for the cloth soon.. but for now i have a bit of minor progress. http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/101/1/b/3_by_typhion-d61auig.jpg his mohawk fell off.. but will be replaced with a better one, as a fun bit of pointless trivia.. the combiflamer isnt actually attatched to the model at all, the chain is just draped over the model atm (self supporting strap for the win!) death given form
Liking the chain as a sling. Is the eagle-head power plant a kind of tie in with Garro's eagle cuirass? Regardless, nice job.
Lorenzen
Yeah the eagle backpack was a nod to his terran blood.. however i may replace it with a modified mk3 pack instead if i figure out a design i like. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/102/5/d/5_by_typhion-d61g2sy.jpg not a massive update.. but then im kinda forced to work slowly due to the curing times and not wanting to stick a thumb print on any detail.. i have idiot hands at times.. *edit* added updated picture with full death guard logo rather than just the skull *edit* Edited April 12, 2013 by Lorenzen

Dosjetka
Loving Kael 2.0 :tu: How did you make that combi-flamer? It looks fantastic!
Lorenzen
yeah the chains the fw chain. the combiflamer was made using a hand flamer, i cut the pipes shorter. turned the muzzle round & cut off the fuel tank. thats then attatched to a slightly shaved down underside so that it sits flush. think thats about it.
