Lorenzen's Abyss: Heresy, Necro & a load of other stuff

Blimey man, after seeing Kael, you really should be both confident and proud of your skin method!

I see what you mean about the armor now! I guess I just don't see it as much. The armor just looks... black to me. I more envision it as like what the World Eater in Betrayal looks like... armor finish eaten away, rad staining showing the metal under the darker paint.

ive tried to keep the armour very very veeeery dark, its a close inspection kinda job.. mainly so i can paint a pair of crossed scythes or a skull onto his bare shoulder plate and have the actual black stand out a bit... anyhoo i thought id show you that theres still more work to be done on the armour.. hes not grimy enough to be a death guard quite yet, but is getting there

the pigment round his feet and the bottom of the tabard needs a bit of cleanup and some darker stains.. his ammo pouch and holster wont be that spiffy and clean when i'm done either..

... yup. Okay. That's awesome. I retract my previous statements. He's looking ace, brother. That's a destroyer right thar. I'm guessing you're doing chem weapons throughout the entire army? Are we going to see any green flames? Perhaps a burning brazier somewhere? Be kinda of a cool spot detail on a destroyer...

the paint job is pretty simple really, black primer, airbrushed on a mix of rakarth & black (90% black still) at a 45 degree angle, added more rakarth to the mix, and airbrushed it on almost vertically.. added slightly more rakarth and did some broad highlights, then added even more rakarth to the mix and did some edge highlights.. the uber dark green pad and line were done in the same way.. black + luftwaffe camo green, increase the green to highlight etc..

the cloth is dawnstone highlighted with administratum grey and shaded with a mix of dawnstone and basalt grey.. the brass is runelord brass mixed with black (seeing a pattern yet?) then washed with a mix of agrax earthshade, nuln oil, matte varnish and water to dull it down, then highlighted with runelord brass very sparingly.. all the weathering is just my usual selection of rust pigments from forge world and the ak interactive rust wash, rust streaks and streaking grime etc.. the white marks are rainmarks for nato tanks and the small white dots are sponged on rakarth to add a bit of interest. :)

he was a lot of fun to paint and quite different to my normal beige.. probably why i was able to churn him out quite quickly, nice to do something different now and again!

also as i said i would, i redid the eyes on abaddon, much happier now.

Loving the Destroyer sarge. The subtle weathering and corrosion is really unique and suites the theme well. I think the grey stippling really makes it come together.

Abaddon is looking superb, interested to see how you handle the black armour. The face is excellent, thought the first version was good but the revised one is definitely an improvement.

Blind is right, it is indeed the termie sarge head (also the basis for Kaels face)

Now.. with the weekender looming ever closer, i've had to pull my finger out tonight and do some work.

outside of applying a few touch ups, a XIV decal to his knee and painting a meltabomb.. he is finished and officially "done enough" for the weekender. really pleased with how hes turned out and will be showing him to simon egan for his critique tomorrow :wacko.:

hope you like him.

I keep coming back to look at the Destroyer Sergeant. I just can't get over how :cuss: ing badass he looks. Crazy cool, man. The only thing that sucks is that these guys are keeping you away from your Fire Angels.

various stages of the wip.. but shows a few of the different bits of him as he stands atm.. and heathens, the fire angels will get revisited before too long dont you worry.. what with the rumour mills talking of a new vanilla dex n all they might actually see some action and tear me away from 30k for a bit.
