Lorenzen
Cheers guys glad you like it :) and just because i couldnt let a mk4 body and some greenstuff go to waste i now have a devastator sarge (and unique face 22) http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/118/c/2/20130428_131432_by_typhion-d63bpgh.jpg LachlantheLoaf14 1 Back to top

NightHunters
Very nice brother and many thanks for the tutorial, certainly explains why my previous efforts have been doomed!!
geordie
Outstanding work! This thread is an inspiration. I can imagine the devastator sarge as a destroyer missile guy as well. Perhaps a hooded theme on some destroyers might be an idea? Pretty sure you could sculpt some pretty decent hoods too. You're going to get headhunted by Forgeworld if you keep this up. The reworked Praetor is easily as good as the FW mk4 command dudes. I'd love to see your take on some Catalun Reavers, hint hint. cheers
Lorenzen
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but i'm nowhere near good enough for forgeworld.. maybe in a few years if i keep improving. :) As the reavers are getting a conversion kit, i cant see me ever doing much.. however i wouldnt mind doing a few models just for fun (few world eaters, emps kids, night lords etc) so who knows.. ;) Glad you all like the tutorial, its a bit rough round the edges but hey ho. Blindhamster
yup, tutorial is great, the progress on the marines is also excellent. I think you need to post the pics of the Rhino and things here too though :) also, I second the request for a lineup of the bare heads you're using :)

Lorenzen
small update for the 2nd tac squad, theyre starting to come together now though. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/125/0/d/1_by_typhion-d649755.jpg played around with a few of the bare headed guys, decided to switch them up, also im really liking how the sergeant for this squad is looking.. and he now has a name.. Drogan Lor. thus making the unofficial list of named death guard for the 5th company now stand as; Kael Armaros - Captain Akran Hal – Moritat Golthak – Destroyer Sergeant Thias Varlen – Tactical Sergeant Janek Peior – Siege Breaker (awaiting facial reconstruction) Gorthian “the Vulture” – Assault Sergeant Selyvan Mors – Terminator Sergeant Vlast “The Nightmare of Galaspar” – Contemptor Dreadnought Thorian “The Denied” – Contemptor Dreadnought Drogan Lor – Tactical Sergeant and Kaels predecessor (Sent down in the 1st wave.) - Holgoarg oh and its not all of them (yet) but heres a line up of faces in their current conditions. http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/121/7/f/dg_faces_by_typhion-d63pzm1.jpg Edited May 6, 2013 by Lorenzen Blindhamster and KhaosRising 2 Back to top

GooseDaMoose
Could you maybe give us the sources for the heads? I quite like a few of them, like the second, third and last heads on the first row, and the fourth and last heads on the second row :D Lookin' fly as always! Lorenzen
half the heads i just bits ordered.. marine heads aren't in huge demand (its all thunder hammers, shields and grey knight bits by the looks of things) outside of kael and the hooded cataphractii none of them have had any greenstuff work done, just scraped with a knife etc. :) done some more work tonight.. namely for my pledge to the tale of painters that im part of over on the goldfish of justice facebook page.. so i present these guys. http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/126/9/d/destroyers_by_typhion-d64d04y.jpg the first set of 5 destroyers (will eventually number 10) including the sergeant Golthak.. these guys will eventually be led bythe Moritat: Akran-Hal leader of the cursed sons (5th company's destroyer cadre) and these guys.. http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/126/0/f/oblits_by_typhion-d64bc9c.jpg who will represent obliterators with the mark of nurgle & vets of the long war in my count as chaos force. GooseDaMoose
Oh, thanks! Yeah, I realised I don't actually have enough bare heads to convert anyway :p
Lorenzen
Quick update on Golthak (the destroyer sergeant) I challenged the goldfish people to a mini deadline.. sergeant model done by the weekend.. so i had to pull my finger out and do some work (mainly to bug blindhamster ;) ) so here he is atm. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/129/a/f/dest1_by_typhion-d64np99.jpg the black has a touch of beige in it for most of the armour, and a touch of green in it for the stripe/shoulder etc.. wanted to try and make it look as though the black wasnt uniform and had stained the various bits as per the fluff. quite like him so far. Firepower
Love the tutorial there, and I have to agree that the sculpey trick is an ingenious little helper. If I ever work up the nerve to take on GS yet again, I'll be referring back to this thread. And of course, everything else seems to be marching along nicely. death given form
Very nice. Are you planning on doing rad and melta damage on him? I am normally not a fan of marines without helmets, but it suits the Death Guard's arrogant attitude to dangerous atmospheres so well, and you've executed it so brilliantly, I think you may have changed my mind. Lorenzen
the black of the armour is the rad damage.. stained black by their weapons and all that, he will have some heavy weathering other than that though (keeping him and his squad in line with the rest of my army. as far as bare heads go, i know what you mean, but also see the minis as being almost film representations of themselves.. "loosely based on a true story" if you will. glad you like them though, skin is one of the things im quite confident with paint wise. :)
