I gotta agree with ya, Gederas, mate.  It does look more like a slight recover from jumping or dropping from a ledge or something.  That's actually pretty cool. Hmmm, may try something like that as a concept myself.  Very cool.

Yeah, now that I've looked at it more, the pose grew on me. I mean, I still would have preferred my original choice, but oh well :laugh.:

That Mastodon though.....

Also, TITHI got my Throgg(s, I got two, one to convert one to keep as-is) for my Megaboss (which is now Index-only -sigh-) and I've started working on figuring out how to get this giant troll to look like an ork in Mega Armour.

I'm thinking I might actually need to get a Deff Dread for this guy's armour though! :laugh.:

For reference, this is what I'm working with:

http://whfb.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/1/13/Throgg.jpg

Other big issue is figuring out which arm the Power Klaw is going on. Which is really, really annoying right now, not gonna lie :laugh.:

Edited by Gederas

You could always do what I do and use it as an excuse to get another dread to 'correct' the mistake :tongue.: For the record, I did the same thing and couldn't pull it off with a Deredeo, so I'm wondering just how elusive that is to actually 'do'.

Man, the Mastodon is a weird model but it was fun, albeit insanely heavy and lining up the back top and bottom sections wasn't fun.  But yeah, that model looks at home in an assault company and yet, gonna be hard to justify using it over a Glaive.  Still a resin shoebox.

Man, I love the idea with Throgg, though. It's an awesome idea, and I do like the deaf dread for an armour sort.  As for power klaw, big one, dread, left, like a reverse Yarrick.

I mean, I'll be getting another Contemptor, definitely (or more) Prolly an Imperial Fist one to make into a Contemptor Mortis (I'm going to try and use Chapter/Legion specific Dreadnoughts wherever possible). That one will definitely be assembled properly to be braced to fire its weapons.

And here's the justification for the Mastodon: It looks awesome.

And yeah, a Deff Dread-based armour will likely be the best course of action. Though Throgg's pose will definitely make it a bit tricky.

And I'll be using a Defiler Claw for it, as a Dreadnought power fist is actually TOO SMALL to use on Throgg's body without looking utterly ridiculous

Hah, when you get the right angle you better pass on that golden knowledge, mate!  I've gone through 4 Contemptors (2 Calth, 2 specialist, and a Deredeo on top of that) and still haven't been quite satisfied with a braced pose.  I was kinda wondering if it might just be their relatively stumpy legs.  Those legion specific dreads are glorious.

Ah the Mastadon, an armoured landing craft on treds.  Gotta love it.

Man, you know you're onto a good project when you say about your warlord, "Drednought claw isn't big enough, must have bigger!"  Seriously that's both crazy and awesome.  I haven't seen the size of Throgg n a while, but if it scales like Yarrick, it'll be incredible!  Seriously awesome idea.

As for power klaw, big one, dread, left, like a reverse Yarrick.

A reverse Yarrick sounds like some kind of wrestling move. :p

TiTHI downloaded paintRack to try and find out what colours are actually used on the Stardrake instead of what insane colour combinations the box art recommends. I already thing the app has loads of potential. I'll have to mess around with it when my phone is done charging.

This is old in the hobby but contemptor related. If you hack it up enough you can do some pretty cool things. I was really scared cutting my $60 model's legs at the knee but here we are:

And an album with more angles: https://imgur.com/a/XHs3x

I played with my set up and took the picture inside of a cabinet to try and get some better lighting. It....kind of worked.

Oh, and I finished those 6 models last night and then couldn't sleep so I started working on a unit of Purestrain Genestealers.

-laughs- Flame Boy, dude, you ain't wrong there!  "He's going for the Full-Nelson... No, wait it's a reverse Yarrick, he's going for the reverse Yarrick!!" Hmm, PaintRack app, eh.  Man, wonder if it would have helped in the initial colour selection for SoH because no one seems to get the same shades of green going on.

TheWarrioerHunter, man, that is a great dread (not just for a Calth Dread, but in general).  It's that little bit of the sole on the bottom of the foot, it makes the whole thing really just feel finished.  I knew there was something that bothered me about the dreads beside the 'dead boi' stance the normal ones have.

Fulkers, they look pretty good.  Like always, pics at night and against unmodified black backgrounds can wash the lighter colours out a bit, too.  Seems pretty good (I think there was a trick about using a piece of coloured paper in screen then cropping it out at the camera should colour correct better... can't be sure, meh).  I like the take on that helmet for the big lad on campus.  Was a good choice to use a neutral tone.  Y'know, that or the bane that is Imperial Fist yellow :P

TiTH: Despite being sick with some ghastly Nurglish contagion, I put together a Vindicator (still wonder about adding the mine plough or trusting to 30K auxiliary drives) a Deimos Rhino, 3 scimitar jetbikes, and 5 troopers that'll get primed up along with my heavy weapons squad, command squad, and veteran squad tomorrow.

Today in the hobby I continued working on my first squad of Kabalite Warriors. I'll be finishing them up tonight, then getting to work on my Archon and starting to build the second Kabalite squad. I may go to the store as well today and pick up a few more boxes of Drukhari stuff.

TITHI started working on figuring out how to do Warboss Manyteef's weapons. Though I'm at a loss if I want to do his Power Klaw on his left or right arm:

Left arm, totally. Waving in the air (like he just don’t care) beats resting on the ground (like it’s a bit heavy).

Edited by Rogue

If the right arm is stretched forward and not downwards, it could look good but may end up being overbalance which would necessitate the model being moved back on the base to accomodate for the new centre of gravity. On the other hand, (Pun 70% intended),left arm stretched upwards with the mega-klaw is a classic pose, especially for Orks.

Left Claw Gederas, mate! Reverse Yarrick all the way, otherwise it covers up too much of the body and might make it feel a little too knuckle-dragging and heavy. Can't give an Ork warband that impression, can we?

@Laughingman, man those tracks do make a difference in overall appearance don't they. Totally worth it, totally awesome. Nice work dude :)

TiTH, I finished up my flight of gunships... Think I'm probably done. Maybe. They're surprisingly addictive. Guess I should glue on the heavy bolters.

Also finished base coating the Rhino, Vindi, 15 legionnaires, 2 apothecaries, and 3 scimitar jetbikes.

So.... Like this?

And the right arm is stretched across his chest. So the Klaw, should I go with that arm, would be directly in front of his chest, like he's blocking a strike at his chest with it instead of his Kustom-Shoota.

Yaaaaz Gederas, yaz, like that!  Heh, looks fantastic... I still can't believe how :censored: enormous that klaw is.  It's so seriously awesome :tongue.:

Got some pictures for us there Fr33dom?

-taps the like button, taps again, 'reached limit' and yowls- Hobby Gods loath me today!

Forced perspective is a hell of a thing

It's not so massive compared to the rest of him, but due to the way his arm is angled (it's ever so slightly tilted forward), the Klaw goes right towards the camera's lens, making it look utterly massive

-laughs- it's also from a Defiler which, thanks to the gangly look of that particular monstrosity, looks large.  It's a seriously awesome bit, mate :)  Like, I have a full Speed Kult army in box (2 of those bundles from last year) and now I'm thinking I may wanna have a try at something like it!

TIH i managed to find a copy of Burning of Prospero at my local GW i nearly took the guys fingers off to get it XD its going to sit under my table with the unopened copy of BAC until the rest of my White scars are built and painted.

TITH I played a game of Kill Team against myself. I've solo'd before but this was made easier by the use of marker tokens. I am trying to get a few games in to get more familiar with the rules/tactics/specialisms.

It's a pretty good way to go about learning Kill Team, WarriorHunter, mate. I tend to do the same with the new kill zones so I can get familiar with their rules and potential environmental effects.

Maaan, Gederas, you cray-zay! That's gonna be a lot of green stuff but it's looking seriously great, dude! :smile.: You better keep us all appraised eh!

As for me... well, I did it, I broke open my last 'reserve' set of now OOP 16th Legion upgrades, I've got 2 helmets and 2 Torsos left, slated for some special character work for my Marshal. -sighs- It feels like I'm resigning the 65th to being 'finished' as I can't make convincing seekers or my independent reavers without 'em. Oh well, after 14,000 points I guess I should call it 'done'. right?

Update: Because double post sucks.

Vindi is done, scimitars were done... the bases were not. GAH, knew I forgot something.
