YITH I built 3 Kans and 5 Stormboyz. Working on 3 more Kans today and will try to build the 10 boyz I've got. Goal is to prime this week and start painting as well.

EDIT: 3 more Kans done before work, and I gave all the Kans a quick prime with Boltgun  (not shown as they're drying right now) to make life easier going forward:

Dat's roight stompy, mate.

Ahem. TITH, I based my GEEEEENESTEALERS using an old, beat-up drawer organizer with a neat metal grate texture and some zip ties. I assembled the bases last night and painted them today.

Oh, uh... yeah, I own a Genestealer Cult now, as of a couple days ago. Dunno if I mentioned it on the forum at all. They were fun to paint, and the photos do not do them justice. ^^

That's a very effective hack for a base. I've got hold of some plastic mesh (for deep fat fryers) that I've been cutting up to use as grilles and fencing for terrain - I'd not though of using it on a base though.

Mhm, and the paint job's just Abaddon Black and sponge-brushed mix of Typhus Corrosion and Leadbelcher anywhere I could reach it easily - helps add to the effect of deep shadows, so you can just barely see the model. Credit to N1SB for the initial technique; I just applied it, albeit in a simplified way.

TITH I finished building 10 Choppa boyz, and got to priming all the Infantry Orks. Need to do a little more experimentation before I'm ready for starting everything though, so I'll be repriming a model to try some underpainting stuff for the skin.

TITH I bought the dark angels and blood angels Primaris lieutenants that are going straight in to my deathwatch army as sergeants with a 32mm base swap. Also bought a box of Reivers and hellblasters that will also be going in to the deathwatch once I get round to them. I reckon I could have nearly 3000 points once this army is all up and running.

I worked out the skin recipe I'll be following for Ork skin (I'll try to have a tutorial on it later this week for anyone who is interested), and I started practicing on a Mek since I'm not really planning on using him in my army, but I like his model and it's a good chance to practice.

Oh, and I ended up writing an editorial on my blog asking people to be better to each other online. I try not to soapbox because I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot who isn't an expert on anything, but sometimes I see things online and have to say -something- about it if only to remind people how not okay it is.

Well, at least I have tomorrow off so I'll try and make some progress on the Mek tomorrow. I'm going to leave the Klan color stuff for last just so I can do that last once I know more about what the 1.5 update Saga of the Beast will bring.

EDIT: WIP of the Ork Mek I'm doing some color tests on:

With Orks being in kind of a weird place and my FLGS not getting stuff in (I'm thinking GW is having a run on Ork stuff as people start building up for Saga of the Beast so things might not be as immediately available at the moment), I settled on a second army project I can work on: Lamenters.

As if I didn't like to punish myself enough I guess. At least I got the Blood Angels Battleforce box as a start?

YITHI started cleaning up the paintjobs on various models, and dug out the parts for my truescale project. Found some of the old Chapterhouse torsos/legs I bought years ago and might chuck those in to save the greenstuffing on the terminator legs I would have used otherwise. Going to try and work on something every couple of days to get myself into the swing of things, and also try to finish painting/shading my second Intercessor squad as I'm determined to finally get a game of 8th in this year.

TITH,

I finished my Galvanic Servohauler.  It has been a while since the last time I painted, so it felt amazing to just sit back, relax, and throw some hours at painting.  Arctic Battlefield is one step closer to completion.

TITH,

I created ice sheets for rivers and lakes that I will be creating for my arctic battlefield.  One step closer to completion of this massive project!

You're used to painting yellow, you've got the best Imperial Fists I've ever seen - then again, I'm not a fan of how Golden Demon stuff looks, and heavy weathering like yours is something I don't see around where I am. I figure Lamenters shouldn't be too different from Fists, yeah?

Thanks for the compliment about the yellow! I'm still trying to push it even further with more indepth shading, but painting the color itself doesn't torment me like it does most people, and I do love me some heavy weathering. These armies are more to practice some techniques than jump into competition with. Plus the faster I finish the sooner i can play so that becomes motivation to paint more.

Today I painted a bunch of sticks and 5 SM helmets as I tried working out how to achieve the turquoise I want to paint my Sororitas in.

So far, no conclusions :(

I'm trying very hard to have a unique scheme, something I chose. But I seem to really suck at picking colors. Regardless, I'm soldiering on; tomorrow, I'm going to paint up an old, extra tactical marine in what I think is the best choice and see if I'm happy with it.

TITHI Began the daunting task of coming up with individual names and heraldry for all of my grey knights, so far it's 20 paladins, 10 purgation, 10 strikes and 13 characters (including ancients and apothecaries)

Still to do another 20 strikes,16 termies, 10 purifiers, 2 dreadnoughts, 3 dreadknights and the halberd wielding sicaran commander (yes i know he can't drive the tank, but it looks awesome in sliver so rule of cool wins)

Just put the finishing touches to my Primaris Wolf Lord. Always slightly nervous about converting limited edition models but I am pretty pleased with how he turned out.

Very cool! I’ve been wanting to use that head for a while on a Primaris but never got round to it but this is great and has given me an idea for my Deathwatch.

Very wolfy, looks good! Personally, I'm not a fan of that particular helmet - I'm more in favor of using Wolfy Primaris helmets, like on the upgrades and the Battle Leader, as well as older marks - but it definitely works here.

Today in the hobby I spent WAY too much money at the Black Library Celebration/Store Anniversary.

The terminators are a trade (the guy left before I could give him the Imperial Guard tin :laugh.:

For those wondering my haul was:

  1. Necromunda: Dark Uprising
  2. Flesh-Eater Courts Crypt Horrors (Spawn for my Night Lords)
  3. 2 Maulerfiends
  4. Valerian & Aleya (just realized they're not in the picture....)
  5. Night Lords Chaos Lord (web order, will be in on Wednesday)
  6. A Rose Watered with Blood & other stories

I also bought for a friend Skragrott and Stabbas/Shootas for his Gloomspite Gitz, which got me the super reward (which is why Jovan, Larissa and the tin is there).
