Today (not two minutes ago, in fact!) I finished painting my third model for my ETL Vow!

Today I ordered my first full FW model(s), the Legion Praetors for my Heresy-era Imperial Fist army.

Quite looking forward to getting them.

They are gorgeous! Awesome detail, awesome weapon options (because of how different they are).

-Got halfway through prepping my first Drop Pod for production.

-Found out that I am not a fan of prepping Drop Pods for production, on account of the fiddly harness bits.

-Gloss Varnished a couple of squads for their impending oil wash.

-Did my first OSL for a Plasma Gun with my airbrush. A bit sloppy, but fun :smile.:

Today in the Hobby, I received my Decal paper (I ordered 1 clear and 1 white A4 sheet). I got the sealant for it. Just need to print them out. The Decal downloads are in A5 format, so I'm currently pondering on what else to print.

I do have an almighty hankering to get Flesh Tearers, Marines Malevolent, and a few others. We'll see :smile.: I'll be sure to provide a breakdown of what I did, and easy they were to make and apply etc in the WIP section (in my Rainbow Warriors topic).

Also in the Hobby, I succumbed and bought the Sand basing kit from GW today, as I figured it was about time. I did find some awesome resin bases in the Aztec style online. I'll probably re-base the whole army with them when I feel that I have enough (which will be at least one full company) as it'll be more cost effective that way.

Today in the hobby I stared at two WIP drop pods while a third unbuilt one stared at me from the corner.

By end of Saturday I will only have one drop pod, 6 heavy bolter marines, 12 assault marines, 4 assault terminators, 5 bolter marines, one Vindicator, one Dreadnought, 2 Rhinos, and 3 Whirlwinds to paint.

And my purchase list grows without bounds...Someone used to tell me to build and paint what I own before I buy more. I would, but it's really hard.

Today I saw a weather report stating that tomorrow my area will not have conditions similar to the tropical rainforest (with unbearable heat and humidity we have also had nearly 20" of rain last month, on Tuesday we had 3" in 6 minutes) for the first time since mid-May...and I live in upstate New York.  Perhaps I can finally rev up the old air compressor and breakout the airbrush to complete this vow of mine.  Watch the weatherman turn out to be a liar...again.

Fixed that for you.

Today in the hobby, I continued to growl and spit while building this stupidly-overcomplicated Land Speeder Storm for my ETL. God, I feel like I'm trying to put together the smallest analog wrist watch ever, with all these tiny parts.

Ick.  I haven't tried so myself, but I can imagine.  I spent my evening getting a regular Speeder ready for the assembly line, and even that is a finicky mess.  The old "Assemble these 13 parts simultaneously, because no 1 will stick without the other 12 in position" sort of model, just like the Drop Pod I also have to do for my ETL :verymad:

Anyway, I am curious to see a Malevolent Storm, so keep at it :)

Nice... today in the hobby I printed out my first decals! Attempt 1 was an abject failure - the test run on regular A4 was perfect, but the first run on actual decal paper failed because my printer decided it needed the "photo black" for that weight of paper (unlike for the test) and it had run out... $3.33 gone, d'oh! Attempt 2 (after replacing cartridge, eck, that makes 5 cartridges - all of them - in 24 hours! Byebye NZ$150)... epic win. Came out beautifully! Many times more Bran Redmaw decals than on the Forgeworld sheet.. happy days!

Now I just need to see if they work!?

I've just printed mine and applied the sealant.

Because the files are A5 in format, for now I've printed double the amount of Rainbow Warrior decals. I'm currently pondering on which Squad marking file to download and print, so I don't have to paint feth knows how many Tactical, Assault and Devastator markings :laugh.:

The decals I've printed look very good :happy.: I just hope I haven't ruined them by putting the sealant on wrong (I thought the GW spray paint honked, but the sealant is terrible, even with every window in the flat open! :blink.:

Ordered 4 batches of DV Chosen and to start work on my Morbid Progeny, hopefully they'll arrive in time to be done for this tournament I'm looking at next month. I'll probably order a box or 2 of Raptors on monday from a discount place closer to home.

Today in the hobby I came up with the idea for the new Vannila SM Chapter to give reason for the awesome paintjob idea I recently had!

Today's idea:

Painting idea from about 2 weeks ago:

The paintjob is easy and spreads across my SM minis very fast :biggrin.:

Yesterday in the hobby I magnetised the weapon options on my Stormtalon, I can now chose any of the four (Typhoon, Skyhammer, Lascannon, Heavy Bolter).

The process required the magnet glued to the back of the weapon face to line up with a hole drilled in the main body. It required some precise measuring and placement of the magnets, which is a right pain in the arse given my inability to place a tiny magnet with the correct polarity with millimeter precision, but I got there in the end.

The Stormtalon is now ready to spray so in my usual Schizophrenic approach to the hobby I switched to assembling some more Ravenwing Bikers instead of getting on and painting it today.
