The_Chaplain
Ah, I know exactly where you are coming from geektom, did a similar "hack job" on the biker chaplain I'm working on, and fixing all the gaps is a pain in the butt so far. Check your inbox in a minute, I'm gonna send you some links to stuff that might help you out. You are the best, Chaplain-- thanks again! You are absolutely welcome, happy to help! geektom
okay! Still have some filing and cleaning to do, but the main modeling is done. C/C welcome as always! Special thanks to The_Chaplain who provided some critical feedback! Introducing, Brother Chaplain Ko'soro Mai, spiritual leader of the Storm Brother's 2nd Brotherhood: http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n60/geektom/ChaplainonBike1_zps9c6972e9.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n60/geektom/ChaplainonBike2_zpse0ce1a1d.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n60/geektom/ChaplainonBike6_zpsa147b6f8.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n60/geektom/ChaplainonBike3_zpse124d5f3.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n60/geektom/ChaplainonBike5_zps04349fd1.jpg Race Bannon and JeffTibbetts 2 Back to top
JeffTibbetts
That turned out very well! I don't think I've seen your mad green stuff skills yet. Impressed with the robes. Great kit bashing too. My only very minor suggestion would be to cram some GS behind the winged skull icons on the cowling, to make them sturdier. Just squish a sausage back there and square it off with the icon so it goes straight back into it. Does that make sense? If you've ever worked with 3D software, think of "extruding" the shape behind. It's only noticeable from straight down the front anyway, but still. geektom 1 Back to top
geektom
Jeff-- great feedback! Would you do it underneath as well?
JeffTibbetts
If you can push it under, yeah. In my head it would be mostly under. I'll try to draw a pic real quick. EDIT: here you go. The dark line is where you extend the shape straight back to get rid of the gap between the cowl and the icon. geektom
Do you think I should clip the tiny triangle of the back fender that goes beyond the wings in the back?
JeffTibbetts
Maybe. It's a little hard to see there but I can kinda see how that might look cooler. Can you get a closer pic or different angle there or is it a pain in the rear? No pun intended. ;)
geektom
Brilliant drawing-- that is exactly what I thought you meant! When I said "underneath", I meant the bottom part of the winged skull-- should I try to fill that in and connect it to the cowl also?
JeffTibbetts
Oh, no I wouldn't. I thought that part was fine hanging down.
The_Chaplain
Wow, that chaplain is looking quite marvelous! How did you do the servo skull? geektom 1 Back to top
geektom
Wow, that chaplain is looking quite marvelous! How did you do the servo skull? It is a random bit I have lying around. The wires aren't quite long enough to give the illusion it is plugged into both the bike and the Chaplain (which is what I want), but I have some GS "wires" drying that should do the trick- then I will just have to get the exact placement so it balances out the model and looks like it belongs... Do you think it is overkill? Edited January 4, 2014 by geektom
JeffTibbetts
Overkill almost never applies in our world. 40k is all about taking things to their logical extreme. :D In all seriousness, though, no. I think it's just the right amount of detail. EDIT: Holy cow! I just noticed the grav gun! Brilliant. geektom
Very nice! Interesting choice on the bone gauntlet fingers too. Thanks! It was a spur of the moment decision, but I like how it is coming out. He looks great! Wait… Did you totally disregard my advice on the GS around the winged skulls? NightHunters
Never, not in a million years would I have said those colours would work. But they do. Very nicely in fact. Not only that but very tidy painting and some very nice modelling and conversion work. This really is turning in to a great thread. Followed. geektom 1 Back to top

geektom
How do you guys feel about the purple-not-black armor? Waiting for The_Chaplain to smite me for heresy...
Bryan Blaire
I am personally not a stickler at all for the "Codex" coloration of units. I prefer a story/reason behind why they don't use the standard panoply, but it seems good enough to me that "they use super-dark purple instead because purple is already a color for their armor."
