It was the same as this box:

Is that the latest one? Maybe just the artwork is different from what I have seen in my LGS?

Yup, that's the current box. Slightly older package, same contents.

Which parts were you having trouble with? I'm not ruling out a bad box, just curious.

Mold lines are bad on almost every piece, and the torsos don't fit together right, especially at the belt line. On the legs, the combination of bad mold lines and lack of detail causes very little definition between the knee pads and the lower leg armor. They look smoothed together, almost. Grrr.

Also, any idea why they come with so many servo skulls? There are no rules that cover them for SM armies, right? Did they serve a purpose in the previous edition? I can't figure what the blocky things with handles next to the melta bombs are either...

The boxes next to the Melta reloads/bombs are extra Heavy Bolter ammo cans. The skulls are just there to add to models, like the purity seals and parchments. I guess they were meant to represent extra targeters and spotters.

Thanks, TJ!

Ah right, the torsos and legs. Those were re-cut sprues, but the masters would have been OLD. Like, from the beginning of the current Astartes aesthetic old. So yeah, unfortunately it's a bad box. :ermm:

I do have photos of my Sentinels together, but they're kinda blurry because of my crappy cocaine hands and no tripod on the camera. You'll find them on page 2 of my WiP thread. Again, apologies for the blurriness. And it's not all my Sentinels, unfortunately.

That being said, my FLGS has let me fill one of their cabinet sections with my models, so I might wander back in and take photos of all that. Possibly with all my completed models. At some point.

And no, those servo-skulls served very little purpose. The edition before that Devastator box came out had the ability to give a Familiar to the Librarians (for +1 Initiative), but that didn't survive into 5th.

You should save the servo-skulls for the start of a mechanicus force.  I compulsively scavenge every tech looking bit that I can in anticipation of the FW release of the new mechanicus models.  My club is also building a titan manufactorum table to play games on, complete with partially assembled Warhound Titan.  You can never have enough Mechanicus bits.

They could have swapped claws with each other for honour reasons maybe?

I agree that it does look odd though... Some of the pairs have the same power source 'housing' as other pairs, so if you're lucky enough to have those pairs mismatched, you could file away the Crux on one gauntlet (because it's not like a Terminator needs to show off their Crux Terminatus three times!).

Funny you should mention that, that is the other painting challenge I am having with these guys-- their Crux or some version of it is EVERYWHERE. It is kind of overkill.

Ah, well-- I will follow my usual pattern so far with this army: do the first 5 wrong, then get it right with the next 5, I guess...

WIP on the mis-matched armed Termies:

Answers the question, "will a true white helmet show as white vs. the light gray that everyone thinks in white?"

Um, no.

Looks like I am just going to have to accept that they are their own shade of off-white. So now the question becomes, should I even try to use white for veteran/1st Brotherhood, or just paint them the same light gray as the armor?

Well then... The 'white' helmets are different from the yellow you use on non-Veterans.

The question is whether or not the white helmets get lost on the 'white' torso. The red stripe definitely works though!

Thanks! I liked it, too- originally I had just the crest (top) red, but it didn't look right.

I kind of like the mis-matched arms, especially on the sgt and right-hand guy. Adds some personalization to the unit.
For the helmets, what about making them purple, with the sgt keeping his current white w/ stripe (as I like the look of that)

Or keep everybody with yellow helmets, except red for sgt., red/white for vet sgt? After all, Termies are veterans by default anyway, correct? So they don't specifically need a different color helmet... Hmm. Edited by geektom

Here is someone else's (very nice) paint job on some WS Termies- I think if I take the time to do them well, having helmets the same color as the majority of the armor could still work. Plus, makes it a *little* easier on me, lol.

Oy! I wish I had never decided the leg "struts" would all be yellow!
