What 2014 will bring

The Emperor needed tools he could control in the long run. The Thunder Warriors were superior to Astartes, but he had a hard time controling them, and ultimately were unstable. I think space marines are everybit what wanted them to be.

The custodes are superior to marines as well. Yet he did not mass produce them, to keep the trump card in his back pocket

Dante

Veteran of a thousand wars - Dante's has honed his battlecraft over two millenia. He gainswill not die on a 4+ and ignores unwieldy.

So why does he get it will not die? Figured if anything he would get something like eternal warrior from something like veteran of a thousand years.

It will not die represents his unyielding nature. I am personally fed up of people judging the worth of a character by the simple fact that he does or doesn't have eternal warrior. It does not make or break characters.

I want it ti go back to being a rare thing again.

I think striking at init with a +1 S AP2 weapon + IWND would make Dante pretty competitive actually, and the reason we only got one character with Eternal Warrior was because Ward felt each codex should only get 1, and he felt the sanguinor deserved it more... (that is from an actual conversation I had with him at Games Day a couple years back) now... it could be argued that the sanguinor didn't need to exist, but actually the concept of the guy is cool, just the execution was less so.

How do you guys feel about dante's death mask ability. I usually forget to use it. (im bad at that, I forget to roll for red thirst, and to use corbulo's reroll. I. Also forget mephys gaze) I personally feel like it should do something else.

Ouch, how can you forget the Death Mask?  I can maybe see forgetting to use the basic Death Mask rule, but the special Death Mask of Sanguinius rule?  That's a game changer, its a very powerful ability.

I'm really excited for the Imperial Knights.  I can't figure out if I want to paint my first one in red, convert it with BA markings etc, or do the same and paint it in DC colours...  Decisions decisions...  Ooooor I could just do both... And do one up as a Sanguinary Guard...

All good things come in multiples of 3. We are the 9th Legion afterall.

The Sanguinor

Character, rampage, furious charge fleet, jump infantry, Descent of angels.

In our hour of need: The Sanguinor always starts the game in reserves and will always arrive via Descent of Angels. Enemy units with 12 inches of of the Sanguinor at the end of that Movement phase must make a blind test. Those that fail cannot overwatch in addition to being blinded.

Heroic to the End: If the Sanguinor does not shoot or run during the shooting phase, he may assault on the turn he arrives. He must always make heroic interventions, and automatically passes the test to do so.

Boon of the Primarch: Once per game, Blood Angel units within 12 inches of the Sanguinor gain prefered enemy until the next turn.

Captain Tyco

Independent character Relentless, artificer armour, Iron Halo, digital weapons, Deadman's hand, prefered enemy Orks, fearless.

Bloodsong

mastercrafted combi-melta - this version has sternguard ammo.

Blood Feud: any units he joins gainsk prefered enemy Orks and fearless.

Deadman's hand: +1S. Tycho's close combat attacks ignore armour saves. He may also replace his close combat attacks for a single S10 smash attack.

DC Tycho

Independent Character, Relentless, prefered enemy(all), rage, furious charge, FnP, fearless, artificer armour, digital weapons, Iron Halo, Deadman's Hand, Bloodsong

+1 attack, +1 WS

A few drops short of a full blood bank: DC Tycho can only join Death Company units

Bloodfury: Gains +1 attack for each missing wound.

Bloodsong: same as above, no sternguard ammo

Deadman's hand: same as above

I'd personally rather the sanguinor not not character status and instead get flying monstrous creature to differentiate him from being a amalgamation of mephy and Dante and I think it could cover the base of us getting a new "flyer" and make us unique from c:sm c:da and c:da

Ps, I really like your blind test idea wolf pack, was you thinking that friend and foe models both take the test?

I wrote it as enemy model specific. The problem with the Sanguinor, is that there is allready a model out for him, which does not reflect monstrous creature status. Plus, that is really Mephiston department, if we ever go there.

I think that making him coming from reserve with a bang and being able to charge on arrival makes him unique.

Who else would come smashing down on the battlefield like a comet?

Some nice ideas there, brother. Too much "blood", though. laugh.png

I think that Dante's mask needs to stay, it has been around for a while, after all. I liked the earlier effects better, though, which lowered WS and BS of every enemy unit within 6" by 1. I believe the mask also worked as our old Chaplain's deathmasks in addition, which gave a malus of 1 to LD to all enemy units engaged in close combat when it came to pass a test based on morale.

Imagine, lower the BS of all units in 6" by 1! Marines shoot like guardsmen, guardsmen shoot like orks, orks shoot like...well, I don't know. Even worse. Also, it's a very nice way to have MEQ units hit Dante on 5s.

Snorri

The blood reference are just to salt the wounds further ;)

That's the idea I had for the Sanguinor. Blind+no overwatch on a failed test.

Deathmask of the Legion: any eny unit attempting to shoot or assault Dante or his unit must pass a leadership test. If failed, they can only snapfire. If attempting to assault, the cut the unit's WS and attacks in half, rounded.down for that turn.

All.enemy units with 6 get -1 leadership.

Well if the rumors are true about bouncing into another assault after winning, then I feel that vanguard vets will reign supreme and give a competitive edge to Blood Angel players.

What better than have 3 squads of tooled up (but expensive) vanguard vets drop in and assault the entire backfield out of existence?

Screw balance. Time to make people fear the Blood Angels fury!!!
