Did some more work on the terminator legs for another world eaters terminator.

Time to add to some of very slow work in progress and some finished models at well...

 

First the actual still WIP of the World Eater Termie champion from last years COC that never got painted;  I decided to take the model apart and do more than kit-bash the chaos lord model.  I wanted to make it look like he's been having that armor fixed and repaired and in some cases remade over the last ten millennia.

Another Aspiring champion for a chaos squad, not sure when he will get painted, but the sculpting to fix the gaping hole in his chest when I wanted to pry out his helmet to use on the model at the bottom of this post (I got the model really cheap in a bitz bin, the catch being he was already solidly glued together).

I didn't like the Gravis Captain from the Dark Imperium much, so a tiny (miniscule) amount of kitbashing, and I have a model that can go with some Crimson Fists.

Completed the other Wolf Primaris, and adding some beginning work on more Black Legion.  I started putting together some of the House Escher that I am going to use as cultists, and actually, the models will lend themselves pretty well to being cultists with minimal or even no conversion necessary.  They have a lot of arrows, animal skill fetishes, and "eyes" that if the models are painted right, they will fit in fine as cultists...just as a higher caliber of cultist than some of the dregs of society that seem to get deployed on the battlefield normally.

So...retrieving this thread from the warp, since with all the new chaos goodies (especially Abaddon), I got motivated enough to start clearing out space to work again...long story short my basement got flooded out enough last year (no serious damage to books, minis, electronics or anything else in the basement), I had to have a 50ft trench dug diagonal across the basement to replace the entire drainage pipe.  Didn't have a basement for 6 months after that while waiting for the insurance to approve the expenditure on replacing the tile with vinyl, and since the basement is the largest part of the house I didn't really have anywhere to paint, and then procrastinated on fixing that situation for awhile.

 

However, all the new choas goodies has got me motivated again, and I got a lot of work to do and catch up on with painting:

I also have Blackstone Fortress, but don't have a picture of it...so I got enough to keep my busy for awhile.  The knights, the LoS and the Bloodthirster are probably going to have to wait until I get an airbrush, but the rest will be slowly worked upon.  I'll probably have some actual painting updates over the next month...got stuff to do this weekend, King of Monsters and a new puppy the weekend after that.

Thanks!  I am going to have to remember which videos on YouTube I watched that made me settle on a style for the faces, but that's what browsing history is for...it'll only take a short time in the warp...it's not like I am watching YouTube instead of TV every day...

 

ETL Vow

 

I Surreal Cruelty will muster 10 Chaos Space Marines to the cause of the Dark Gods by 0.749.19.M2 (September 1st, 2019)

Going to start slow and build on that, the goal being to have a completely successful vow, basically going one unit at a time.  I am hoping to be able to complete Abaddon for the vow, but I am saving him for last because I want to put my all into him, and I am going to be experimenting with a number of painting techniques before I decide what to do with him and other units to come.

 

Speaking of other units, more work on my Master of Possession, who is not part of this vow.

So, I finished the Master of Possession.  I initially didn't like the model very much- the horns on the helmet are a bit over the top, and I really didn't like the staff top very much.  So I started painting it initially mostly as a practice model I wasn't going to use.  Having finished it, it's grown on me, and the helmet doesn't look too over done, and I might even get another couple of the model for conversions and kit-bashing.  I'm still on the fence about the staff...it would make a great icon on the back of another model though.

So, I keep getting distracted by life and video games, but I am about halfway through my pledge for ETL, I expect I should be able to complete them.

I've been doing some experimentation with contrast paints, and so far I kind of like them, but going to be a bit of a learning/re-learning curve.  I think for character models I think I am going to stick with traditional painting, but I haven't painted with washes in a very long time...I might still have some Ral Partha minis around that I experimented with using washes and inks with.

So, few days late for ETL, I have pictures of my complete squad of Chaos Marines...I blame NOVA Open, got distracted that weekend, and by the time I remembered that ETL was up, it was too late.  So, I finished them up, and here is the pic below.

On the other hand, I went to NOVA, and while I didn't do much more than a couple of pick up board games, I did do plenty of shopping, and got plenty more stuff to mess around with over the next year, along with the other things from the Chaos releases this summer that I am going to work on painting.

 

This WIP is going to be my Lord Executioner.  I am likely to change that bolt pistol arm, but not yet sure to what...I am going to have to spend a lot of time looking at models figuring out what I am going to use for a good right arm to be holding up a bunch of trophies.
