This is a quick update to show that I'm still alive. :smile.: I've been busy with real life and *whispers* Age of Sigmar painting recently, but here's a preview of something I'm working on for the Imperial Fists subforum 'Wall Fail, Fists Do Not!' challenge.

After a month or so off, I now have Team Fisto models on the workbench again. :smile.:

The headlights will look more focused once I've got some paint on the housings. :smile.:

Did a bit more on the Predator last night. Just the tracks to go now.

Also trying to decide whether or not to attach the ammo boxes to the back of the turret. Not a huge difference, but I think I prefer it without.

Fisto!

Always good to see more updates in this thread. Your ingenuity always astounds!

I would just say that I prefer the box in place. It adds a nice chunkiness to the tank which I think is appealing.

Things may have seemed a bit quiet on the Team Fisto front for the last few weeks, but that's because I've been so busy building and painting that I haven't had time to stop and take any photos. :smile.: Team Fisto will be taking on Apologist's Iron Warriors in The Taking of the Contrador scenario from Horus Heresy - Extermination on the Zone Mortalis table at Warhammer World.

So I've been busy building more Veterans/Tacticals and Breachers...

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto608_zpsqu0hkl5l.jpg

And my own interpretation of Alexis Polux...

After two years of slogging away at this iteration of Team Fisto, I'm pleased to finally be on the verge of having the minimum requirements for a legal force (1 HQ, 2 Troops) in LED-lit true scale. :smile.:

More furious painting last night. Nothing new finished to show at the moment, but here are some previews of upcoming models.

Aw maaaan! That's pretty fricking awesome right there. A motorized assault cannon. Your ingenuity truly is astounding. :tu:

Please take pics -and time to make them- of the battle with apologist at WW.

Thanks everyone. :)

We will. :)

Are you going to link the LED's of the assault cannon with the rotation?

That was my original plan as it was pretty simple to do - just having the muzzle flare LED come on when the assault cannon was rotating. However when the LED is off the muzzle flare is just essentially a lump of white resin and it looks a bit odd by itself. So I thought it was probably better to have it on the whole time. :)

You goddamned engineers hahah

I figured as much, since it's actually harder to make 2 different circuits. Your work made me nostalgic to my schooltime with electronics. I might try something similar with a dreadnought if I can find my old schoolbooks. Btw, your blog is truly inspiring!

As ever, I am loving your work. I do, however, feel that your Polux looks a little boring? A downside of the mass-production, perhaps. I'd like to see if you could source him the "proper" shield from eBay - even some of those characteristic hallmarks would massively improve the model, I think.

The 2000 point list I need for this weekend is starting to come together. A couple of evenings of hurried painting await me, with only my tears to dilute each successive layer of yellow.

Thank you. :) Looking forward to seeing your take on it, if you get around to it. I imagine it'll be easier with a plastic assault cannon where all the barrels are one solid piece, rather than the separate resin pieces of the FW version. I ended up 3D printing a couple of extra small components to hold all the barrels together at the base and attach them to the motor.

I do know what you mean, but I'm afraid I'm on the clock. ;) I did consider putting him in his iconic MkIII armour, but it would have just felt "wrong" to me when everyone else was in MkVI. The shield was a deliberate choice; I've been listening to The Crimson Fist audio book for inspiration while painting, and in that story Polux has a boarding shield. That just made more sense to me than a storm shield, both aesthetically and when considering forming a shield wall with his brothers. The etched brass eagle was a nod to the design of the storm shield though.

Made some good progress last night. :) Would have liked to get some more Yriel Yellow on everyone, but never mind.

Zone Mortalis Legendary Boarding Assault Mission - The Taking of the Contrador

This 'Legendary' Boarding Assault represents a specific battle of the Horus Heresy - the taking of the Iron Warriors warship Contrador by a force of Imperial Fists led by their commander in the Phall system, Alexis Polux. This action took place at the climax of that devastating battle and saw Polux slay the Iron Warrior warleader, Golg, before taking over the Contrador and using it to escape the slaughter of the Phall system as his own vessel, the Tribune, burned.

This scenario is taking from the Horus Heresy 3 - Extermination book and was played against Apologist's Iron Warriors on the Zone Mortalis table at Warhammer World.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto616_zpsu4pzly5f.jpg

Golg commands the Contrador from the bridge, a heavy support squad acting as escort for their warleader.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto617_zpsqivqsbhz.jpg

Teleport assault! In a blinding flash of light Alexis Polux appears at an access junction to the bridge, accompanied by a unit of Breacher and a Primus Medicae.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto618_zpsubpqbb97.jpg

Immediately alert to the threat, Golg and the heavy support squad assume firing positions on either side of the access corridor, hoping to catch the boarders in a lethal cross-fire.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto619_zpshkod1iul.jpg

Additional Iron Warriors reinforcements flood the area, arriving behind the Breachers! However they lack the void hardened armour of the Breachers, whose quick thinking reaction fire guns them down to a man!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto620_zps7df9xtty.jpg

The treat from the rear now neutralised, the Breachers form a shield wall and begin a steady advance on the bridge.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto621_zpskbucjsfe.jpg

Forced to deal with two threats simultaneously, the Breacher gun down a pair of heavy support Marines...

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto622_zpseoovgfka.jpg

...while Polux prepares to meet Golg's inevitable charge.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto623_zpst4hadjrb.jpg

Golg spits a disdainful challenge at Polux, who in return swears the traitor will answer for his crimes. The two captains clash. Golg clumsily swings his chainfist, but he's too slow. Polux catches him with a mighty blow and the Iron Warrior falls to the floor, the life crushed out of his body!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto624_zps3xwmsanr.jpg

Reinforcements arrive to aid the Imperial assault on the bridge. A mighty Contemptor-Cortus...

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto625_zpsjhdzk3sv.jpg

...and another squad of legionaries.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto626_zpsq4cxqoct.jpg

With the death of Golg, the Imperial Fists turn their attention to the heavy support squad, eager to secure the bridge...

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto627_zps32pnuz5v.jpg

...but the Contrador is not theirs yet...

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto628_zps5uprrv6l.jpg

...as the Iron Warriors veteran counter attack arrives!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto630_zpsqywv9dao.jpg

Despite being familiar with the layout of the ex-Imperial ship, it is taking the Imperial Fist reinforcements a long time to work their way through the network of defensive emplacements to reach the bridge.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto631_zpssuchovtr.jpg

The Breachers reform their shield wall to meet the new threat.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto632_zpsj8upbfjf.jpg

Punishing volkite fire turns the front rank of Breachers to ash!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto633_zpsx3vyanc5.jpg

The surviving Breacher crash forward in a devastating shield charge!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u72/Bob_Hunk/Miniatures%20-%20Imperial%20Fists/Fisto634_zpsnovrbilm.jpg

The fighting on the bridge descends into a bitter, swirling melee. Both sides take casualties, but more silver bodies litter the floor than yellow. Alexis Polux personally strikes down the veteran Iron Warriors sergeant, and with that final act of violence the bridge - at the Contrador herself - belongs to the Imperial Fists!

Imperial Fists Victory

Thanks to Apologist for a fun game. :smile.: It's definitely worth noting that it was a lot closer than the pictures might suggest, and Apologist suffered from some appalling luck, particularly with Golg whiffing his attacks in the challenge with Polux. But we were both pleased that the battle followed the fluff, and it was awesome to play on a proper Zone Mortalis table at Warhammer World. :smile.: I'm sure our two forces will be clashing again before too long...
