As an idea, some of you should consider 'razzle dazzle' camouflage for tanks and they like. It was used in the great war to disguise ships, but seems very slaaneshi to me.

Just one question:

Does it come in pastel?

Yes. Yes it did. :biggrin.:

The quality of models in this thread is incredible and I hope I'll be able to stand alongside you brothers of the third that are already established here.

For my part I'd like to throw in my warband, or rather amalgam of warbands: The Disciples of Noise. Lead by Torren Dianicus; The Last Pheonix, Butcher of Eptentis IV and choirmaster general of The Disciples of Noise (more fluff to come...)

I've also started a blog in the chaos forum that hopefully I'll update regularly!

Thanks for reading and keep it tenticle-ly ;)

I was actually kinda thinking six raptors would look pretty badass in that monochrome white and silver...

Think you can Pull off a Mother of Pearl scheme? I think that would look awesome; though maybe with how tiny (relatively) the surfaces are it might not be worth the hassle.

@ Slipstreams - It's Shornaal... every kind is his/her kind.

@ Forte - You and me both, sister. At least you're a hardbitten veteran at this point. I'm still novice green. (and pink)

Flint you pulled off something I'd never have attempted.

First, the pink. It's more.... pink than I've had the guts to use in the past on my Emperor's Children. As a whole it looks great. But that HQ with wings is on a different level. The choice of pieces and colours is perfect. It gives a sense of stoic power, and the colours give it a pristine, but stark look that suits the character of the army really well.

I'd love to play against this army. You've done a stellar job on it.

So my slaanesh army was painted pink and I wanted to redo it as I was wanting to use the Vallejo game air pink as it meant I could do tanks a lot easier. However I can't seem to get satisfactory results from it so I tried another idea I had but in still not sure on it. This is just a quick one ive knocked up so the actual technique is pretty horrible it's just to see how the colours work together

Cheers. I'm still undecided on it. That's the game air glorious gold. I'm still working on getting even coverage. I used to separate the models into various parts and prime one side then turn them over and prime the other but that means a lot of extra cleaning time between sessions. However it may have to end up being that way since spraying a completed model doesn't seem the best way either

What are you spraying with? Only reason I ask is the gold looks brushed on. Also, I really recommend shaking the paint a lot more to make sure it's really mixed properly.

The way I'd suggest is this:

  • Prime black
  • Airbrush a mix of your gold, dark brown, and very dark green all over
  • Airbrush gold from above all round. Think as if there is a cone of light pointing down from above
  • Brush (as in paint brush) edge highlights on the top edges that would catch light with the gold with some metallic medium mixed in

Maybe give it a try on a model you don't want.

It's just an unbranded airbrush/compressor eBay job. It was sprayed directly over the black and then touched up with a brush when I realised I had missed some bits. I didn't think of doing a mixed coat underneath. Edge highlights are something I badly need to learn. Managed to get away with washes and dry brushing on my ogre kingdoms but I'll need to up my game here.

Gold never really covers black properly so it's worth having a base for it to go over. Also by changing the angle it'll give you some shadows too.

From what I hear it's always worth adding a little thinner, even to the Game Air paints. And aim for thin, multiple coats rather than one thick one.

@aceytrixx

Gold is always a cool choice for Slaanesh Marines. I like it and I think you are on to something here.

@Flint

Badass as always.

Please do make some Raptors in the white paint scheme of your Lord. You can never go wrong with Raptors.

Aw man. I'd yell and scream about stealing my scheme, but I haven't painted an infantry model in over a year, and I always wondered why more people weren't using gold with purple trim.
