Thank you for the comments brothers.

As for the setting, the Delegatus are 40k remnants of the Sons of Horus who remain loyal to the memory of Horus and believe that Abaddon betrayed his father by destroying his reanimated corpse. They seek to destroy Abaddon and his followers before overthrowing the Emperor. They do not have sufficient numbers to directly challenge the Black Legion and as such work through other, larger warbands, drawing them together under the banner of the true Warmaster. After all, many of the traitor legionnaires saw Horus as their new God and Emperor, and are willing to fight for his resurrection.

The assault was over and the frigate lay blasted and silent, black clad corpses lined the scorched corridors and hangars and the scent of blood hung in the air. The Delegatus had fought well, contributing vital knowledge to the planning and execution of the attack. For this, Tor would entertain their presence.

For now...

I've been thinking of them for a while but never fancied painting more white than I had too...

I thought that if anyone should be striding through marble hallways, slaughtering loyalist dogs, it should be the Sons of the Warmaster himself.

Looking ace! Your Sons look menacing and I like the bases. I'm just not sure about checkering (is that a word?) the sides of the base.

I'd also think it would be cool to get plastic and engrave the tiling in for more depth. It would look killer with your Sons.

@hushrong: I wasn't sure whether to keep it on the sides or not, as it was a tad tricky to line it up with the pattern on top. As for the engraved tiling, I also think that'd be a good idea, or pre-engraved bases from 3rd party?

Well folks, I've decided that this thread's had a bit too much mayhem and not enough loyalty recently, who better to enforce loyalty to the rotting corpse God Emperor than one of his Chaplains?

Lovely mix of parts on this guy, using Legion of the Damned as a base; wish I could claim the idea but I actually got him on a eBay for an absolute steal (

Made quick (for me) progress on the Chaplain, he needs some tidying up, basing and a bit of muting on some of the gold but otherwise, he's pretty much done.

His arms fell off prior to painting...

@Brother Tyrax: Thank you for the kind words, I really think I've improved since I started here too. There's a lot of good tips on these boards and a lot of threads such as your own that feed my inspiration.

As ever, thanks for looking folks and feel free to comment below.

Finished up the Chaplain tonight, the base isn't done yet as mixing the sand and paint isn't an exact science and I want to try minimise wastage, so I'll wait til he's got some friends.

Well folks, I decided the Chaplain needed some other airborne companions, so I decided on Vanguard Vets as they sound pretty capable in combat.

Pretty disappointed though, they're absolutely 'armless...

Still deciding on the armament of the above, but the other three squad members are decided - two pairs of claws and then power fist with storm shield.

Once again, these guys were found for a steal on eBay due to their half-built state, however I was happy with the current equipment. I'm thinking of giving the first two power axes and storm shields. Combined with the Chaplain, the squad will be able to deal with all armour saves and also a bit of armour.

Thanks for looking.

Progress on the duo with claws; the blue base-coat is down and the silver done and washed. Need to add the cream, parchment and glazes on the claws:

Barring basing the two Vanguards with claws are finished. Basing will also bring lots of leg weathering/dirtying:

Thanks hushrong, it's actually a very basic method: paint the area silver and then wash as you would with any other metal components (black and brown washes). After that, the recesses are painted white and then the whole area gets a heavy turquoise wash.

The rest of the squad should be up soon (not painted), all three have storm shields and then there's two power axes and one fist.

Hey folks, amidst the tide of exam revision and prep for ETL I've only managed to get the Sergeant with fist together for the Vanguard:

Painting should begin soon...

Hey folks, as usual I am making glacial progress...

Any-who here's the last two members of the Vanguard, mostly base-coated:

Hopefully my progress will speed up soon...

Thanks for looking.

Exam season is upon me, but slowly I progress with the hobby. The Vets need tidying and basing, but that's all. For now, here's a preview of the squads weapons:

That preening human believes us to be touched by heresy, letting our weapons rust and lose their shine. He understands not that these are mere tools, that rust is but another weapon, a weapon that will poison the blood of the enemy, blood that thickly coats our blades and armour. Blood of the mutant, the heretic and the traitor. Blood of the beast and the xenos. Our axes are beginning to take on the crimson tint of death, but it is of no matter, the Chaplain assures us that it is irrelevant.

Thanks for the kind words folks. It is now time to turn to the Warriors of Mayhem and the matter of ETL:

Vow One:

Fabius Bile Counts As:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The warriors of the delegatus looked at Tor as their leader stepped forwards.

"You know why we chose your warband."

Silence...

"The Fleshmaker" prompted Taros, his irritation at Tor's silence showing.

"What of him?" replied the resplendent Lord, scornfully looking down at the Delegatus from his golden throne. "Do you need him?"

"Do not seek to toy with us, Princeling, we may be few, but we have no little power. You know what we seek and if you aid us, we will be most... grateful."

Veteran pit-fighters from the gladiatorial arenas of Tor's fleet, these hardy warriors are well blessed by the Dark Prince and many among them carry his blessings in multiple ways, not least Marduk himself...
