Stronghold assault has some additional rules for fielding multiple fortifications as a single choice, like adding razor wire to a bastion, but the in box rules will get you started.

What do I do with this loot?

 

I have;

5 mk2 Crusader Armour dudes

5 mk3 Heavy Support dudes

5 mk3 Iron Armour dudes

5 Chaos Havoks

 

10 Plasma, 5 autocannon, 5 lascannon.

 

So.. do I make them all Havoks or should I make one unit Chosen?  I read that Chosen aren't that great, but would 5 Chosen with Plasma be a better investment for the Warband then a termicide unit?

 

Even though the majority of those dudes aren't "heavy support" I thought they'd look different enough, and bad ass enough, to be Chosen or Havoks.

 

Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Making a unit of auto havocs and a unit of las havocs seems like solid choices to me!

Went with the mk2 Crusaders as Plasma, I'm going to see what the arms look like for the mk3 regular dudes.  I may not be able to use them with the heavy weapons, seems like the arms are made for boltguns and not heavy weapons.

So just to confirm goodwin you have the lascannons and autocannons from forge world? If you end up building them with mk3's please post a picture. I'm thinking of buying a squad of mk4s instead because I'm not sure how the arms with look with the mk3 bodies

Hail, Warpsmiths! Looking for some advice on how to ally the Iron Legion with my Black Legion speartip.

 

I am going to be fielding a Black Legion force that deepstrikes into an opponent's army. It will include Abaddon and the Bringers of Despair to take out an opponent's HQ on the first turn. There will be a Cyclopea Cabal that uses the Last Memory of the Yuranthos and Shroud of Deceipt to create havok in the heart of the enemy lines. I am bringing a Raptor Talon as well, to assault from Deep Strike and keep my opponents off balance.

 

This part of my force will be expensive. Looking to back it up with some some long range firepower to the mix, Iron Warriors style.

 

The plan is to ally in a CAD lead by a warpsmith with an Aegis Defense Line and a comms relay, which is there to improve reserve rolls. I am wondering what the best option is for the rest of the force. Here are the options I am considering.

 

1) A pair of Obliterators, taken as troops.

 

2) A couple squads of cultists, and a Rapier Weapons Battery with conversion beamers from IA:13.

 

3) A couple squads of cultists, and a Havoc squad with autocannons. 

 

There are benefits to each, wondering what the group thinks.

Also been great to get a few games during the week.  Both against Nids.  One game was useing Forge Org chart against flying nids force with fair few Hive Nids, gargoyle, lot of other bigger Nids monster. 

The other unit the Warband formation with the Obliterator formation & Tank formation vs Monster nids with lot of gaunts & Genestealer from the Cult supplament that could possible get a first turn charge...... thankful I stole first turn & made the ruin they where in -2 cover saves with the two Warpsmith.

Both really great & fun games.  One my aim for 2017 is to try get a few more games, than once per week + any event I attend.  It just trying sort time more than anything else.

 

Also just said about my Forge World order.  Has anyone use the Iron Warrior brass etching, any photos of models with them to get a idea sort size the icon are like on them, thanks.

Canadian i used the autocannons that come in the taurox box. I cut them half way down the barrel then shaved of the front of the heavy bolter that comes in the BoP box. I think you could really make it work but i am going to buy some anvil ones or forge world ones just to make it easier but it was definitely an easy conversion. Might need to pin the barrel though to make it strong.

I've been wanting t convert heavy bolters into autocannons for my IW. What bit was used fr the barrel anyways?

 

There from the plastic Terminators that where release last year in the Heresy box set.  Just check out any bitz site or talk to friends who've gotten the kit.  I usely have the Assault Cannon rep the Autocannon.  But as said before in the past I like to have each unit have there own sub theme to help tell there story & just somthing bit diffrent.

 

Parts finial arrive for the unit Champion & the fourth Battle Brother for this new unit.

I was going to model this as a 10 man havoc squad, so Champion, 4x Autocannons & then rest all Bolter.  But seen all those spare Bolter I have from the Heresy box set with MkIV & MkIII models, though be best make those 5 other Iron Warriors into another brand new squad of Havocs but try model them sort going Obliterator.  Try tie it in with conversion of Lord Narach I made back in 2006 when he use to have a Kai Gun for smaller point games or when I didn't use Warsmith Abhorred Riddick (Daemon Prince) or Lord Narach when he was a bit more tool up.

 

So this model now been promoted as Champion to led the new unit once more Heavy Bolter backpack arrive.

Sadily don't have these models any longer.

 

With Traitor Legion release last month.  I'm still gutted lossing MoK & Axe of Blind fury on Lord Narach.  But all those points save has if I'm useing formation list (warband, Oblits & Tanks) allowed me to upgrade my Helbrute with Twin Linked lascannon & that mean bring back my FW Iron Warrior dreadnought, one of my favorite models.  If the game last Saturday was anything go by against Nids, shown that he really miss the gaming table taken a Trygon out in combat, wipe out a full 20 gaunt unit - took few out, there out of range of the bigger monsted & failed there Ld, follow by over-watching a Death leaper that try charge him.  Only loss one hull point that a Warpsmith fix.

 

I've always enjoyed useing this Helbrute in games & always does really well.  From over-watching & taken out a Eldar Farseer or just bring lot of glory to the 5th Grand Company in my games.

I'm really like the IW brass etching.  I've always use the Renegade brass etching on my tanks.  But as said with the IW once I'm looking forward useing them for my new Daemon Prince model :D

Fellow warsmiths I've got 20 of my iron armour marines built however i can't find anything on squad markings. Am i just thinking to much like an imperial lapdog or does anyone else use different marks?

I Use different horns, markings on the bolters, and pony tails, but if you are using Horus Heresy marines I suggest applying different stripe pattern to their right lower part of the leg. Also placing some hazard stripes onto the flat part of the back pack for one of the squads worked perfectly for me.

How are the IW doing after Traitor Legions?  Seems like they got some nice benefits (not as nice as Death Guard however), what are people doing with their armies now?  I am eyeing the extra 30k marines I have and thinking "These would make some nice Iron Warriors if I added Chaos Warrior helmets".  Although I'm really waiting until 8th edition before I do anything with 40k.

I think a few people are waiting till 8th, people are seeing what it's like before committing to new forces. I'm not one of them :P I'm just building models I like and how ever 8th comes out I'll fit it into that. I haven't managed to play traitor legions yet so can't really comment on how they are.

Currently holding out till 8th edition before I commit to a 40K Iron Warriors force especially with all the rumoured new CSM kits, so concentrating on my 30k force currently. I'm also interested for the AoS dwarf release as I may start them if they deliver.

 

In the mean time I'm stockpiling the 40k Iron Warriors upgrade kits and CSM back packs as they look sweet on mk3 iron armour

1. Honsu made it seem too damn easy to sneak on the corpse ship
2. He lost all (or at least 99.9%) of his warriors during that invasion... how does he want to make a comeback with no allies

3. How does he plan to be brought before Perturabo? Like mentioned, he has no allies left, lost everything. He musst seem to small for Perturabo to be noticed.

But maybe is "confuesed" the wrong term. All the open questions and possibilities are making my head dizzy
