Work continues on the Contemptor but quite slowly...

...been distracted by another project. As people may have seen in the AoD forum, I've been asking around about the fluff for the Rangdan Xenocides and the consensus seems to be that the xenos in question are the creeping horror of the Slaugth. Having seen a fitting Secret Weapons base, I did a little tinkering:

So, we have 2 legionnaires stood over a crater full of worms representing a recently defeated Slaugth warrior construct. I intend to paint the legionnaires up as a member of the Deathwing and Dreadwing respectively. The Deathwing veteran on the left is armed with a volkite-combi-grenade launcher - with spare rounds on his right hip - to best showcase the prototype weaponry of the early Great Crusade. I went for the MK II assault torso so the shoulder straps look like a harness securing his ammo.

The legionary on the right is meant to be a destroyer of the Dreadwing, so I went for MK III armour. I gave him a rotor cannon because, why not? In his left hand, he has a Zinge Industry grenade representing an early pattern rad/phosphex weapon. The 2 together are posed so they look like they are quickly organising burning the defeated Slaugth's remains.

When I paint them up, this mini-rama will form part of my force's fluff.

Oh, that is wunderbar :D

The Volkite/Grenade-launcher is a somewhat scary prospect, but the Mk. III and Rotor Cannon just works so well. Also, I don't care what anyone says, Rotor Cannons are cool in my book!

Did I mention the grenade launcher is loaded with stasis rounds? Wibbly-wobbly-timey-CHOOM!

Might have 20 of the new rotor cannons for the next phase of converting...

Glad the CHOOMtemptors are so well received.

Despite having a few other bits still on the back-burner, with ETL round the corner, I thought I'd start on something else:

I'm going make a small contribution to the MDRC in the form of a Volkite Moritat. I've gone for a destroyer helmet and arms as I envisage him as being part of the Dreadwing. With that, he's got a pair of Zinge grenades to represent rad grenades, a breaching charge to represent a melta bomb, and another Zinge gizmo to represent a remote detonator. He's got a GK power falchion strapped to the side of a Proteus pattern backpack, which I went for because I lke the look of the sensor head and antenna.

I see him running around the bowels of an enemy ship, drawing attention away from the main terminator assault force by sabotaging vital systems and turning any damage control teams to ash.

Moritat complete.

I used the general look of Paz' excellent AL Moritat as a starting point. I modelled him to be looking through his Anvil holosight and had the camera unit on his back pack pointing in the same direction.

From the flank, you can see his GK power sword in the same vein as my terminators. You can just make out a green magazine pouch under his arm; I opted for this over the power packs on the terminators as, in my head, the Mk IV suit wouldn't have sufficient power to recharge them. Next to this you can see a remote detonator.

On this side you can see the Zinge grenades I've used as rad grenades as well as the demo charge I've used to represent his melta bombs. In my head, the Moritat is a solo destroyer of the Dreadwing, sabotaging vital systems and sowing confusion to assist the main assault force. Speaking of which:

Very happy with how he looks compared to the Tartaros model. You can clearly see the similar design elements whilst the Moritat is visibly smaller but more agile. Should tie in well with the rest of the force.

That's purrrdy.

I've been eyeing a Moritat for my Scars too, jost trying to come up with a reasonable background for him.

Solo Ork hunter stalking the lava flows of Chondax?

Olis - Ash for the Ash Throne!

Yeah, maybe. Only problem is we ain't on Chondax, got lost with a smaller Expecition-fleet.

But the Inspiration for the White Scars were all in favour of terror-tactics and doing whatever to scare their enemies into submission, so a Moritat causing havoc, maybe with Destroyer-buddies, is a route I'm looking very seriously at exploring.
