Teetengee
Some of the paint on that fellow seems a little thick. Otherwise he looks quite good though. Thousand Eyes 1 Back to top
Thousand Eyes
Oh I know, it really does. It was my first trty at mixing paints to create my own colours.... yeah that didn't really work out now did it? But overall I learned a lot from the process of doing him and hopefully I will be able to apply those techniques in the future. Currently I am working on a Helldrake, which is interesting. The biggest trick I am having is playing around with the flying base. Currenly it looks like he is nose diving straight into the ground, ok I may over playing that but I don't like having it diving so much.

The only thing I added was a piece of slate to the base. I stuck with the basic colour scheme of blue and gold for the armour and using the neon green for my spot colours on eyes. Although I didn't want the ruined face of the corpse pilot to glow at all. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u0GAqaa5ufk/Vea6mKyneOI/AAAAAAAAB64/rQOXee7AKgQ/s1600/IMG_20150901_180737.jpg Quite happy with how the base worked out but I need some more of my red alien bushes to tie it into the rest of the army. The spot of colour I think will work quite well to brighten it up as well. Also I actually managed to get the paint to crack into broken earth correctly for once. I used a lot thinner paints for this one as well, learning from old mistakes. Edited September 3, 2015 by Thousand Eyes
Thousand Eyes
This is the second of my Hellbrutes, I have a few more coming and I am really looking forward to trying to conver them up. As you can see with this one has been modified a little as I just can't stand the idea of having them all look the same. Let me know what you think. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_PdrPFJG0NA/VecJah5p6XI/AAAAAAAAB7Y/bVM3pdCTIpw/s640/IMG_20150902_144410.jpg As you can see I once again didn't change the formula regarding the basic colour scheme for the army. But to make ths guy look different I added a whole different head, left off the cowl around the original pilot, moved the entire arm and added an extra horn. Leaving off the spiked cowl also meant I had to play around with some greenstuff under the chest armour to make the flesh blend in. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kmzA7TbU88g/VecJdlY16wI/AAAAAAAAB7g/HcpDdN19wVM/s640/IMG_20150902_144425.jpg More slate pieces added to the base to change up his base from the other Hellbrute; as I don't think I will really be able to cut out the rock from under the left foot. More red alien bushes needed to tie it into the rest of the army though. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LwwikQiu4JA/VecJj4H7ufI/AAAAAAAAB7w/r7mOtq4wXcE/s640/IMG_20150902_144500.jpg There are more images and such on my blog. Thousand Eyes
Love the fleshy bits! What paints did you use? Also good job thinning down the paints, the improvement is really visible. The flesh on this guy was an old GW paint called Rotting flesh, a greyish green. I applied to quickly with an extra bit of water on it. Then I did a red wash (called crimson something from the new range) over it before the other had fully dried. Thanks for commenting. Teetengee
Nice looking model, but fluffwise, shouldn't it not be in the colours of the Thousand Sons as they would instead have dreads? (No body to mutate after all??)Unless of course he is a psyker, at which point that is awesome.
ShVagYeR
The way I justify mutations in my TS army is they must've been recruiting during the last 10k years. There is precedent in Ahriman books by John French. If you joined TS after the Rubric, you are not affected by it and thus can mutate as much as you want. ;) Teetengee 1 Back to top

I have a number of daemon engines planned and all of them will be created by the Warpsmith I hope to create down the line. He would have created them from captured pyskers from down along the eons. Eventually I would love to get the Forgeworld Thousand Sons dreadnought to use as an original dreadnought from the Heresy. Looking great, man. That last Hellbrute is especially good. I love the painting sheet, too-- that is a great, easy way to keep track. Thanks man, I think shows that we can improve in bits and pieces. I admit the sheet idea was granted to me by Mordian of http://mordian7th.blogspot.ie/ but it is so handy and satisfiying. NIce to see that second hellbrute changed a bit.. Groups of DV brutes can otherwise get that 'thriller dance group' look to them Oh I couldn't stand that. Especially as I was given another four of them, I doubt I could even trade them away for the one FW dread I want ha. I will see how the third 'brute goes together for my Mayhem pack. Thanks for the comments folks. Edited September 23, 2015 by Thousand Eyes
Thousand Eyes
Stepping away from my Thousand Sons for a quick palette cleanser. For a long time I have wanted to set myself a challenge: To do Sin City Space Marines! Now let me explain that a bit more my idea is to do marines using black and white and one spot colour, just like the comics and movies. For this I chose read because my marines in question were going to be The Fallen... http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6gByHrawJjQ/VgFUWfdq5JI/AAAAAAAAB8M/j44mK4F37UE/s640/IMG_20150920_094457.jpg This is the first test model. I wanted them to be more dynamic than my usual rather static marines. What follows is the initial attempts at both posing and the block painting. Not quite sure how I will get the black and white film look onto them. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EuQOMslkhnQ/VgFUagn2SnI/AAAAAAAAB8c/I_SZhzBc1PM/s640/IMG_20150920_094521.jpg http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UuCopM_8ArA/VgFUbs6lqmI/AAAAAAAAB8g/RpgBF1flthw/s640/IMG-20150922-WA0008.jpg chronosvulcan597 1 Back to top
Thousand Eyes
Here we have: Ahirman. My Sorcerer Lord on a disc because Ahirman is a busy guy. Squad 1: Sacred number of Thousand Sons. Squad 2: Sacred number of Thousand Sons. Hellbrute 1: Part of Mayhem pack formation. Hellbrute 2: Part of Mayhem pack formation. Helldrake: Named Sqwaks by the eldest. In a assembled and primed state I have my Forgefiend and I am looking forward to getting some paint on that beast. Two hades auto cannons and a ecto plasma mouth. Lots of pew pew pew. I tried to make his base and pose somewhat more interesting, but like the helldrake I didn't want to go too crazy with my first model of it. Of course that means I have spare Maulerfiend parts which might find there way onto the third hellbrute for my Mayhem pack. Since I signed myself up for Dreadtober that project may need to be advanced. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2rHDPT0YgIQ/VgxAaBxyfMI/AAAAAAAAB9M/6QgRgtJFQGU/s640/IMG_20150922_203435.jpg ShVagYeR, chronosvulcan597 and Kizzdougs 3 Back to top

Thousand Eyes
Cheers man, they are starting to get there alright. Plenty more to be done though. Considering I ripped apart my daemon prince... again. But I think I have him narrowed down this time. Honest.

Thousand Eyes
Tom I haven't actually played a game in over a decade, only starting to get back into it in the last year. When they are done up I hope to get some games in, firnedly ones as I don't think I'd do well against cheese ;) I'd love the chance to have them against a force like yours on a fully painted table. Putting the drake together was fine to be honest, the flight stand is a bit awkward but it all went together. Painting I went over it all several times with different washes and looks until I settled on the current look... I need to take close up pictures of that don't I? Thousand Eyes
Just my current project for Dreadtober. Below is the first play I had with my idea for a Hellbrute with a more aggressive stance, I thought he was perfect for Dreadtober and nothing had more than blu-tack holding it on before the start date so I wasn't going to be cheating ;). As you can see I am working with another Dark Vengeance Hellbrute. But this time I went to town on it, including ripping off both arms and the left leg to give it a more mobile stance. Of course this left it with some pretty glaring spots in need of repair. This means I have to try do some greenstuff again... http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BvNHmFycYMI/VhLnpznLlHI/AAAAAAAAB9s/hgz27rF_iCA/s640/IMG_20151002_231450.jpg After that I wanted to add some giant veins, tendons, pipes, whatever you want to call them to the back. Just another layer to make it look different from the other Dark Vengeance ones. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--7Nk47xr5B0/VhLn2CWupuI/AAAAAAAAB-E/365H-4ffD1c/s640/IMG_20151005_220753.jpg Finally with his starting level of paint on. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Zq8Ljg3Qf7Y/VheA0FeV9oI/AAAAAAAAB-k/5dFau97YHg8/s640/IMG_20151008_230703.jpg

Think this is his third or fourth, depending on how you count it but either way it shows his devoution to the Lord of Change. Now he has lasher tendrils for a left arm. I don't know why but I just loved the look of it when I mocked them up. Should I keep updating this thing?

Thousand Eyes
Finally got some paint on my Dreadtober Hellbrute. I think he is looking pretty swanky. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZI2VOafMzkM/ViU8aJvhq0I/AAAAAAAACAE/WLsU3vsuXDA/s640/IMG_20151019_172011.jpg http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a9NmcAoCaGk/ViU8geIRzvI/AAAAAAAACAU/CZS06dE5kGI/s640/IMG_20151019_172040.jpg I am actually quite happy with how the tendrils ended up working out on this guy, it was my latest try at green stuff. I know choosing to do essentially rolled thing tubes is cheating a little but I think they fit in well. Please do comment in some form and let me know what ye folks think.
