Thanks Mal! I'm a big fan of you Black Legion - Some of the nicest getting around the warpways ;)

 

Hmm I was going to spam some images of Sydney but I think I will save it for another time. There is always so much to do here.

I'm trying to build up and paint the desert eagles but it is slow going - I think I would rather write some more.

Hey guys got a little bit more of my story.

 

If you haven't read the other posts please do - it wont really make sense otherwise.

 

I'm keen to write more but I want to do some research. I have the 6th edition hardback rules with all the cool fluff as well as the 3.5 Dex and some other bits and pieces so that should help bring me up to speed with all the lingo.

 

Aside from that I am planning 1-2 CSM boxes to make more troops and characters for the Call of Chaos this year.

This part of the story is probably Book 1, chapter 3 when the Black Legion are conquering near space around the planet Catonica.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As the boarding torpedo ground it's way into the port side of the CaptialClass StarshipDestroyer, Vezgetta hoped they would strike a main artery that would connect them with the command deck in short fuss.

 

The Black Renegade indulged in this moment; the calm before the storm, as commander of the Berzerker elite, as was his right and privilege; he had the right of way. When the torpedo came to a halt and the doors blast open, his chosen veterans knew to wait for him to pass. He sat in the throne position, the view down the length of the killer missle' gangway was open before him. He coiled himself in his chair tensed for the coming moment.

 

As the blinding light of the sudden penetrating explosion opened before him , Vezgetta launched himself into it; not knowing; not caring; what lay beyond him.

 

As he did so, out of habit he drew his assault grenades from beneath his heavy cloak, 5 of them at once; and primed them; Vezgetta didn't know how he did that - it was one of the benefits of Chaos - it let you have fun. It happened because he wanted it to happen, and that was all the Renegade Successor needed to know. He had never dared to look down at his hands to see how it was made possible.

 

Krag and frag grenades both, he let them fly before him with a great sweeping gesture, on the reply he drew his twin short Axes, lithe and little killing weapons designed for close and quick work. The great axe MaLetta lay heavily across his back, she seemed sullen and disappointed she had not been chosen for this evening's entree.

 

The God's had blessed him and he came out into a long corridor of heavy bulwarks and many intersections. At the very end of the corridor there was a unit of guardsman still setting up their heavy guns. As he sprinted towards them the Berseker's grenades flew over head and rebounded of the roof; nesting nicely amougst the pathetic warrior's defences.

 

The explosion went off as he made the first barricade leaping over it smoothly and landing amongst a squad of defenders ripping them to shreds in three easy strides. Nearly half again as tall as them with his twin axes singing, each cut worth a tally of guardsman, there was little to no resistance. Unlike the heavy great weapon to which he was accustomed, the twin hachets seemed to pick up speed when they met their prey. MaLetta had a tendency to bite down into her victims when she tasted them, whereas Jeff and Joff seemed to cut clean through. It took Vezgetta a moment to adjust himself. He savioured this moment by turning around and surveying his work.

 

Parts of the enemy were still flying through the air, the components spinning off from there owners spouting blood over the walls, there seemed to be roughly 15 of them, Vezgetta hadn't caught them all, there were 5 and a half or so still standing, he allowed himself two backwards steps, sweeping them off in measured swings of his life enders. They rejoiced in his hands, filled and dripping with the blood and warmth of the fallen foes.

 

He took off again faster then before; just as his shock troops reached the barricade laughing and yewping and cheering their master on.

 

His grenadoe attack had sputtered a hole in the reinforced gateway, a hole which he hurtled through easily. Beyond the gateway lay the great battleships centre mast way. Although these starcrusiers were the latest in Imperial ingenuity, they still retained the basic building blocks of the mythological seaships of old broken Terra. Besides the elevator which formed the main piller mast, it was possible to reach the crows nest by way of the giant staircase which curcumferenced this majestic column.

Phewy now we are all caught up. I've been doing a lot of updates lately with very little real work; but I'm looking forward to finalising this force and the Death Guard as my main armies. The only bug bear is still the vehicles, but sooner or later something will come up I'm sure.

@ Pyscho - thanks bro, yeah there is a lot of potential for the oblits. I'm thinking about splicing chainswords into thier powerfists similar to the CCW you get with the terminator lord. Other than that and maybe some shoulder pads my main focus will be the servo arms; to differentiate them from the regular termies.

 

@ IP - thanks man. I am excited for the call and I will try to complete as much as possible. I like that there is no limit so I will just go along making small vows to help build momentum and routine. Yes I really love the new chaos characters I want to collect them all eventually but I have to finish the old ones first. Niether will work in my fighting army but be more for awesome display and inspiration purposes. So the new WarpSmith, the Dark Apostle, Khârn, and the DV chosen will stand in until we get a proper Chaos Lord.

@ lagrath - nope wasn't me! Did you come across some? Do you have pictures? I love those old eBay lots :D

 

I have been thinking about some termies for the Death Guard though; I just can't get passed how good the Death Shrouds are and the Grave Wardens also. I may finally have to accept ChinaForge as being a reality. Feels like cheating though - but it just makes things so much more affordable, and hence - I can buy more.

 

But nobody heard me say it ;)

 

I really have carved my way through almost the entire plastic space marine range. wow - what year is it again?

As the great Muddy Waters implies, I got my mojo working.

 

I've been thinking about Slaanesh, Noise Marines and 40k Emperor's Children. I love their cool dark and menacing scheme, and their total devotion to their patron God.

 

I will explain more later but rest assured that all is right and good on the earth. Did anyone else read the interview with Jes Goodwyn? How good was that. Examplar indeed.

This guy is the baddest dude I have built so far. He's static; and he has his foot on a rock. Static poses are harder than moving poses as the more is no motion to blur the lines.

Isengrin - I think it will take me a few weeks to get a handle on it, but I'm very excited about the potential of the tube maker. At this stage I'd still prefer guitar wires, but the tube maker will be fine once I get into it. Thanks for the comment!

 

Auggie - haha and thanks! In terms of the back packs - the snake has eaten its own tail and I am now using the plastic strips to "repair" the heavy bolter backpacks. As seen here

This photo also shows how much of the shoulder I usaully remove before fitting the pads.

 

I'm loving this plastic strip back packs. I think I prefer them more to the Dev packs! I love it when an el-cheap hodge lodge technique grows into something more authentic. The decision was to push on and try this on the Noise Marines. I will probably build up all my packs like this now, another of my "design vocabulary" :) ;)

 

@insane - that is actually a very convoluted question. Lord/sorcerer with Jump pack yes, I'm not sure about the wings. The MkV or MKIV jump packs would be best. I think I will save these bulky packs for foot troops, and maybe build jumpacks as a seperate thing.

 

For the Noise marines I have been making press molds of exhaust vents which I will mount on their packs like speakers of a old 80's boom box.

 

Things are coming together really quickly and I should be painting this weekend.

They will just be my own DIY Warband, who are heavily inspired by 40k Emperors Children and Noise Marines. Really getting into the idea of a Slaanesh devoted Warband.

I was going to make press molds of the exhaust vents and mount them neatly on the packs, however I thought I might try this way and see if I like it.

 

Mounting the "speakers" like this is more in keeping with my other conversions, and helps to change and enhance the profile of the miniature. (Which is important.) I think if I embedded them into the face of the pack above his head, things would look too streamlined and not Chaotic enough.

 

Then I would be draw to mount other stuff - which could be cool, it I'm developing a theme here - horns for Khorne - sprouts for Nurgle - speakers for Slaanesh.

 

So I think I may go with this way.

More pictures for the pictures God. Today's is a very exciting day and so I will try to speak as little as possible.

 

I have been throwing around the same ideas, it's more a question of which ones to use. Please don't expect too much in terms of conversion. My plague marines are intentionally over the top, so now I would like to isolate key ideas and exploit them.

 

I broke my own rules and decided to try to make the character more perfect. So I took him apart and rebuilt him only just getting things settled now. I need to head out now and (hopefully) get some 5mm tube so I can finish him up this weekend.

 

As I said the troops will just be troops and I really want to focus more on the painting. I need to spend some time with the tube maker so I can use it to finish the backpacks.

 

Here we go with some image spam getting a good roll happening so I could be making real progress soon as the images cascade and the tide demands progress.

 

I decided that if a man is going to put his foot on a rock, then a man is going to put his foot on a rock; there are no two ways about it. So I went for the biggest step I thought I could manage, pushing for the extreme end of feasible.

He's a ripper man I really like him. I have a thousand different weapons I could use but the chainsword is just so grimdark.

Need to get some plastic tube. For the record 5.5mm is too big. 5mm seems to be the best. I might try a different tabard, perhaps even sculpting my own.

This is actually 4.8mm and they work ok I think. This is still the blue tac stage so if there are any complaints I will hear them now. Otherwise I will probably move forward.
