WOOOOOOOOOO 200!!!!!!! that's super exciting for me it seems like only yesterday I was just a simple lurker with an unpainted betrayal at calth set and a dream.... Anywho I took a quick stroll down memory lane back through this thread and noticed a lot of my images are broken which really sucks because the odds of me figuring out exactly which picture is where so I can go back through and upload then again are probably about the same as the odds of me learning Japanese from watching Attack on Titan. So that said if anyone knows a good image hosting site that works well from a phone? which is my primary source of interwebs the tip would be greatly appreciated.

Now on to business I've been doing the details on Ancient Iram doing lenses, osl, metals, and I've still got some highlighting to do. I was planning on freehanding some snakes on his armour but after having to completely repaint one leg and one side of the main body because of botched attempts I think my freehanding skills need some refining so I'll have to figure something else out here.

The project that's been distracting me though as some of you may have read is the modest beginnings of a traitor shattered legion force. My initial plan is for the force to be made up of World Eaters, Night Lords, and Death Guard my 3 favorite traitor legions. The time frame for this force will be the same as with the Ash Vipers In other words post Istvaan V pre siege of terra. So after getting lost for several hours reading through the murderers call thread it was pretty clear what had to happen. So the first model in this force actually started out as a Night Lord anyways (originally planned on converting up my own sevatar but didn't) so the legs and backpack will look familiar to some of you from several months back when I started this thread.

I dug through my bits box and found some arms I think are from the raptor kit? I'm not %100 on that as my bits collection is an amalgamation of mine and one of my friends who no longer needed them so I have all kinds of treasures that I'm not sure where they came from. Either way I like the spikey arms I'm gonna need MOOOOAAAAR!!!! Then I decided some cutlery was In order he still may get some more as someone with an inclination for collecting faces can't have too many knives. I plan on going full bore Nostraman with pretty much all the Night Lords in the force there will be very few if any without trophies of some sort. I'm still working out the fluff for my traitors as this entire plan is only about a week old, but one thing I have decided on for certain is I want my NL too really portray the sadistic savage animalistic killers the likes of which haunt the dreams of even beings who supposedly know no fear. At least that's the way I've always thought of them when reading the few of AD-B's stories I have had the pleasure too read about the sons of the Night Haunter.

So my rough plan as of now is the Night Lords will handle the fast attack role for the force meaning the only armour painted in midnight clad will have wings aside from that it'll be assault oriented infantry the way I feel a NL force should be. Unfortunately I've yet to win the lottery our become independently wealthy through any other means so until the Ash Vipers are finished these guys are not gonna be getting a whole lot of kits for themselves they'll be started using a lot of recycled marines and leftovers from the kits I've already planned on getting for the Vipers which also seemed fitting not just for the NL but the WE and DG as well. The World Eaters will probably be sprinkled throughout along with the Night Lords with the DG being the end of the project since they'll have the majority of the heavy armour. I'd love to hear any C&C you might have or any suggestions for my traitor project thanks for checking out my work.

It turns out RL still sucks so nothing changed there but let's not get into excuses for why ancient Iram is still unfinished. the Important thing is what happens now ;) Anywho I had planned I doing a Dreadnought month for the Tale of Twenty Hobbyists anyways so... It looks like November will be DREADVEMBER 1 month 4 Dreadnoughts sounds doable rite? :D We shall certainly see especially since I intend to pick up BOP as soon as I can afford it so that will probably distract me greatly but I love a good challenge plus I need to make up for my week start in October.

In preparation I've rounded up the pieces of all four dreads and tidied up my work space a bit since its become kind of a disaster. the new plan of attack is to build and sculpt on the week nights and paint on the weekend. I'm pretty excited about this plan as some of you may know I have a serious Dreadnought fetish er... Obsession? Perhaps Addiction sums it up? Either way I love me some dreadnoughts I can't get enough of them eventually I'd like to have enough to field an army entirely of them I know competition wise it'd be ridiculous useless but I think it'd be awesome none the less. So tonight I'll start with the remaining styrene and gs work on the shield dreads which I'm pretty excited to get back to :D I'd love to hear any thoughts any of you might have I'll try to get some more pics up tonight.

I couldn't agree with you more which is why I'll be building arm options for both shield dreads ;) I also plan to add several more to the fleet some time soonish since I still don't have any deredeos and my traitors are gonna need some dreadnoughts too

Thanks Vairocanum I'm pretty happy with the Night Lord so far and I'm pretty excited for the project itself since doing traitors opens up an entirely different world of conversion opportunities.

Here's my desk as it sits ATM tonight my plan is to work on the final assembly of ancient Iram which will involve a fair amount of pinning and two part epoxy I'll probably fix my IH Leviathan while I'm at it since I didn't use strong enough magnets when I built him he's gonna become permanently fixed in a couple spots but you live and learn rite? At least now I know which magnets are NOT strong enough to hold a Leviathan together ;)

Time permitting I've also got more armour plating to build on both of the shield dreads as well as finishing my scratch built Dreadnought power fists. After all that is finished I'll add the details like random trinkets trophies drake hides etc. I also need to figure out the bases for the shield dreads. Option A. Do the bases the same as the rest of my dreads so far or Option B. make the bases into an interlocking mini diorama where both dreads are smashing some traitors ? The idea of getting a plastic contemptor to use as said traitor crossed my mind but that's an awfully expensive base for a couple dreadnoughts. Anywho as always I really love hearing your thoughts it definitely keeps me motivated to keep on keepin on :D Thanks for checking out my work hopefully I'll get some pics of actual progress up later.

It's been a busy weekend in the Dread-Forge ancient Iram has seen much progress as have brothers Prometheus and T'kylok but the majority of the time was definitely spent on Iram.

The freehanding was definitely inspired by Malchys incredible Carcarodons Leviathan I'm pretty happy with how it turned out on old Iram here. Now he just needs to be damaged and weathered well besides a few other minor details but the real bulk of the work on this guy is finished. As always I love hearing what you all think your C&C is always greatly appreciated.

@ The Traitor thanks brother I'm glad they turned out as well as they did. it needs a little refining but I think the tribal freehanding fits the sort of feral nomadic aspect of the salamanders that I want to portray. and I also think it'll look good in different applications throughout the army.

@Our Baz thanks brother once I started they kinda just happened and I'm definitely happy to have taken the chance worth the idea I think it paid off. I'm also very happy to hear I've inspired you to expand your own Dreadnought collection I think they really are my favorite models pretty much all around.

AND SO DREAD-VEMBER CONTINUES...

I'm glad to hear you guys like where I went with the tribal designs I had my doubts and was pretty concerned I was gonna have to give Iram an alcohol bath but I think it worked out and your positive feedback has reinforced that. So I remembered I had this whole plan of building on week nights paint like a crazy person on the weekend so I went with that and busted out the plasticard box.

I think the flamestorm cannon might get some tweaks before it gets details but I'm pretty happy with the direction it's going in. if only I'd made it a tad smaller in pretty much every way ;) I also started doing some armour detailing on both dreads. As well as building up some of the fiddly "mechanical" looking bits on my scratch built choom. I'm starting to think maybe if I pull this off this whole Dread-Vember thing might have to become a recurring thing what with my Dreadnought obsession and all. Thanks for checking out my work I love hearing what you all think C&C is always appreciated.

ps. sorry about the shoddy pics my lighting is all jacked up I'll fix it tomorrow and get some better ones up

I think this whole system I've got of building on the week nights and painting on the weekends is working quite nicely. I spent some time this evening filling gaps with liquid GS and adding bits here and there. I seem to have hit a wall however. With both of the shield dreads.

The armor paneling just seems too plain to me. I am planning on using a lot of the flat blank panels for some freehanding but as it's they seem very plain and not so fitting of the XVIIIth legion. Any ideas any of you might have in this area would be awesome.

Since im stuck as far as what to do on the armour I did some work on both the volkite and the flamestorm cannons. Tomorrow I'll continue adding little mechanical bits and pieces to both.

20161110_001756.jpg

I've still got a way to go on both of the shield dreads but even with being stuck I think they're coming along pretty well and I'm happy with the conversions so far.

20161110_002000.jpg

I ended up standing the contemptor next to the shield dreads and realized just how big they really are now Iram isn't a great example thanks to his leaned over running pose but you get the idea. I'd love to hear any thoughts our ideas any of you might have thanks for checking out my work.

So far they're looking very good! To avoid plainness you don't necessarily have to sculp anything, some freehand should fix that, something like what you did on Iram. But if you want to sculp, as they're salamanders, you could go for dragon hide, it always fits on a salamander army. Other options could be making a curvy flame pattern with plasticard or even, more a draconian approach, dragon wings on both sides (though it may look too much like Night Lords, and certainly a son of Vulcan wouldn't like that...). Keep the good job coming!

Cheeky! I love dread-vember! Some awesome looking stuff here mate!

More more Drake scales please! I love it; having just read Deathfire, I am quite liking the Sallies!

SCALES YOU SAY???

20161111_001716.jpg

looks like we were on the same page brother ;) I just re-read Deathfire not long ago it's by far one of my favorite books in the series . The first conversion I have planned for my first BoP box whenever I get it is actually Artellus Numeon but instead of the choom stick everyone likes to build him with I wanna build him with Draukkoros and Basilisk. Anywho back to other more current project's ;) I've started the GS details on both shields starting with a couple drake hides.

I'm hoping to get These fellas finished in the construction department tonight or at the very least this weekend. but since it is now the weekend that means it's paint time and my real goal is going to be finishing Iram then getting some paint on the still nameless contemptor. :-) who's arm I still need to figure out the more I look at that beamer the less I like it. Thanks for checking out my work your C&C is always greatly appreciated.

WELL HELLO THERE BROS AND LADY BROS WELCOME BACK TO MY DREAD-VEMBER CELEBRATION!!!!

I had myself a productive weekend despite not having a ton of time to work. I stuck pretty well to my plan of build during the week paint on the weekend but I'm not sure if that will continue so well since I feel the painting mojo and as I'm sure many of you know when you feel it you gotta take advantage of it.

20161114_011641.jpg

My oldest daughter came up with the name Alexion for this fella so now I can start working on his fluff whenever I get a minute to do some writing again.

20161114_011649.jpg

20161114_011701.jpg

Now the dilemma I have is that I really don't like the conversion beamer and Im not even really sure why. I do however think the beamer would make a great base for a volkite weapon conversion. So I'll probably end up chopping it up tonight and start building some more CHOOM cuz I'm too broke to buy the actual contemptor culverin ;)

20161114_011820.jpg

I'm now in the small details stage on Ancient Iram. Part of the reason I like to do multiple models at once like this is so I'm not so tempted to rush on to the next layer because I can work on something else while each layer dries. Anywho I'll keep posing as I get more done thanks for checking out my work I'd love to hear what you think C&C is always greatly appreciated.
