Bit of progress, here's a fire support squad for the militia equipped with heavy bolters. Doing grey fatigues on these rather than the blue of the grenadiers, but armour will still be black.

I have not been idle;

 

Here's some progress on Alpharius. I'm painting him in parts before assembling and also going slowly because of the sheer amount of detail in the sculpt; FW really outdid themselves here I think.

I know it's been a long time since I posted but there are some updates. 

 

First up a tactical squad for my Iron Hands complete with shoulder pads from FW: 

 

All the IH infantry (20 tacs, 5 termies) are now painted and I'm moving onto a rhino now. 

 

And for the militia a carnodon conversion based on a chimera chassis (cause I'm not buying the full FW model):

Some more progress updates

 

AL characters that I kit bashed a while back: 

 

They are: vigilator (bolter), warmonger (fist), praetor (hammer) and chaplain (axe).

This means all the IH models are currently painted and my focus will be shifting to the Steel Legion for now, if you want to follow that there's a link in my signature to my guard log which will be updated soon.

I picked up a rhino yesterday for the Iron Hands and here it is mostly finished: 

 

 

It's waiting on a multi melta (which I have ordered from Kromlech)

 

I also ordered a jetbike from Kromlech as a test model (cause FW are so expensive on those)

Bit of an update, 

 

I got a good haul in from Forge World for the IH (Gorgons, pads, heads and some calivers) which are currently in progress or waiting on me to pick up some more models. 

 

Picked this  up for the AL: 

 

I had heard of issues with warping on the deimos chassis but I had nothing too bad (mold lines, air bubbles, the usual).

Leman Russ Annihilator is now finished and ready for the table top (whenever that may be): 

 

 

Still a bit to go here but I'm happy with the progress on my counts as Thunderbolt (Corvus blackstar with autocannons stuck on it-cause I love the look of the craft):

Got a bit of assembly done today but unfortunately weather wasn't good enough to spray. 

 

First up the Gorgon Terminators: 

 

This is a really nice kit and I especially like the cog designs scattered throughout, no resin issues too other than the odd air bubble and a slightly warped hammer (easily fixed) so very happy with how they turned out. 

 

Next up for the militia I cobbled together 5 missile teams from spares and a box of cadian shock troops

The sicaran is a really nice kit, great detail on it. Mine didn't go together all that well (plenty of gaps at the back and down the right hand side which required greenstuff), though that could just be the way I built it.

Bit of progress on the Alpha Legion:

This was my first time trying a metallic scheme and using contrast paints (it's Terradon Turquoise and Striking Scorpion Green over Army Painter Gun Metal). I'm happy with the progress so far, may have used a bit too much on the lernean as the armour turned out quite dark, may go lighter on the rest of the squad.

Which ones? The land raider has been greenstuffed to fill the gaps while the rhino is waiting on a dozer blade. The scorpius has now been base coated and the sicaran has had gaps filled (but no paint yet).

I've had this model for a while but never uploaded it. 

 

Custom forge lord for my Iron Hands:

 

 

He's got a nemesis bolter and power axe so he's an all rounder. On the tabletop I'll likely put him in with the Gorgons.

Bit of a shift this time to my militia

 

 

I picked up two boxes of ambots to run as brutes for the militia. They'll have carapace armour, ccws and thunder stubs (I'm using the volkiteish arm weapon that comes in the kit as these).

A bit of progress on the militia today, I got a field gun with kalliope mortar assembled. 

 

I made a few minor alterations; taking off the foot rests and the mounts for the tv screen; which I feel improve the overall look of the model. 

 

Now I need to make some adjustments to the crew.

Your dedication to this project is admirable, I really like what you have done with the Techmarine  and the discipline master and ogryn are very nice additions.

Thanks, it's been going for a long while and progress is ok, I'm just really bad at updating. 

 

The models are great, I've found Anvil and Kromlech are absolute treasure troves of conversion parts which can really help make a model or unit look unique. Anvil's guard character models are also fantastic.

I started preparing an Earthshaker Carriage conversion for my militia. 

 

 

I'm putting the platform from the basilisk onto the track units from the taurox. This isn't actually glued, it's more of a proof of concept. I have plasticard I'm going to use to add an undercarriage and body to the platform (which will be the tricky bit).
