Second vow is completed! Everyone has done some great work this month, have had a lot of fun browsing this thread. Now to work on building the next vow

I think I'm out for this event. I tried spraying red over the orange paint on the Farseer and not only did it come out way too dark, but a clogging mishap with the airbrush had a big blast of paint cover the helmet and even cleaning off what I could, it still dried so thick that it was obscuring details. So, I tried to strip the figure and trying to get paint off of a lot of green stuff is iffy and I came up snake eyes when I rolled those dice - several pieces came loose or swelled up and look like crap now.

That sucks man, hopefully the powers that be will allow you a pass due to unforeseen circumstances, I seen that there was a provision for someone unable to complete a model if you still update at the end of the month cycle.

 

For the next pledge I am going to be super cheeky and tie it in with my Ultramarine pledge and put forward the following:

 

One Primaris Captain in Gravis

One squard of 5 Plasma Primaris

One Deredeo

 

And the rearm pledge will be a Contemptor Dread currently in transit from the Imperial Fists chapter, soon to be repurposed for a much better looking yellow chapter of marines

Same thing I do fisheye. Only difference is I airbrush the yellow (averland sunset) over black primer then a fine detail brush and Mephiston red for the other quarter.

I feel like such a moron, only noticed GW do Mephiston Red and Averland Sunset in Air form, promtply ordered for doing the dreads. Got the Tau colours last week as well so could have been well ahead of the game

Artemis turned over the helmet with his foot, PDF issue it had done nothing to stop the power pick from puncturing itself or its owner.

So they where armed with tools turned weapons and ones that could cause even their warplate issue.

The shriek of a plasma cannon discharging snaped his head around.

I've become more patient over time and it shows in the leg fabric vs the arm fabric; more subtle and less blocky shading and highlighting. Other obvious difference is that I went with a darker grey for the arms and that is completely because I forgot the recipe I had been using eight years ago. Crackle paste for the win on the bases! So much easier than basing with Elmer's Glue and sand.

Month 1 Vow 2: Complete

 

The last survivors of an unknown regiment regroup on Depot World Nar Secundus before being redirected to join the Scratch-Companies. I'm wary of assigning them a regiment because my Guard were going to be were I experiment (hence the Scratch-Company idea), but I'm curious for Codex: Space Marines to get an idea of how the sub-factions will be done, i.e. what's the codex language on 'counts-as'.

Several details bits came off of the helmet and now matter what I try, I can't get all the paint out of the folds in the cloth and unlike plastic or metal where the paint would usually lie flat enough that it could be painted over without much worry, not so on the green stuff.

Managed to get my vow completed even if it was in a bit of a rush and not to my usual standard probably due to not having properly painted since last years ETL.

I think next month I'll be looking to try and sort my airbrush out before I embark on any more serious projects I hadn't realised how much I'd come to rely on it.

I have personally seen acetone dissolve plastic bases and superglue so I'm pretty sure it would do the same to an epoxy putty.

I realised that I should have posted some proper WIP shots but unfortunately I've been busy with work and also bein enticed into continuing with my Dark Eldar and my Iron Hands but I have mostly finished my Vow. There are still small things to do on them all and I need to do the bases but otherwise they're mostly done. Comments and Critism is very much welcome, I'm not a great painter but I'm getting better.

If it's legit to call a vow complete whilst waiting for delivery of microsol and a basemaking roll pin then I would like to call my first vow of 5 marines complete (and a bonus of an extra 5 completed as well just because =D)

Barring a few touchups on scratches and spills, the brushwork on these is complete.

 

Hopefully the rest of my goodies will arrive early next week and I can churn out a few bases with a greenstuff world rolling pin and add the transfers.

Well my intercessor squad is done-which means my second pledge this month is also complete.

Just in the nick of time, my first vow is complete! The first Primaris of the Ash Walkers chapter, of the Ultima Founding, is ready to deploy to the battlefield.

Barely wrapped him up in time due to my work, but glad I could! He's hopefully the first of many for this new chapter I'm creating, the Ash Walkers (A Salamanders successor, naturally).

I think I managed to stick within the theme of finishing a unit that had already been started

 

Well I have finally got them 100% done now.

 

Highlighted up the brass and found because I had used the same base for the gold, then the gold merged into the brass, so re-did the gold and did some finishing off and tidy-up work.

 

I also tried my hand at a spot of story writing, but it is really rough and I am not much of a story-teller.

Recon pack Bjorn, were instrumental in the early stages of the War on Prospero. Tasked with infiltrating ahead of the main battle foce Hvarl unleashed his recon packs to gather intelligence and sow  confusion amongst the Prosperine ranks.

Pack leader Bjorn

 

Bjorns pack were also tasked with tracking down Magnus and bringing him low. They did not succeed intheir ultimate goal, however they were the key to survival for many of Hvarls packs. Able to identify warp gates and areas of ambush, Bjorns team were able to launch counter ambushes or surprise attacks, allowing stranded Wolves to escape.

The Pack

 

Their tactics were so ruthlessly successful that a cadre of Thousand Sons from the order of the blind were solely tasked to hunting Bjorn and his pack.

 

Ultimately they survived the Maelstrom which was Prospero, and were later dispersed amongst other packs to pass on their hard-fought knowledge in fighting brother Astartes.

Honestly thought I wasn't gonna finish this one but it appears I have just about finished my Month 1 Vow!

 

(Realised a few days ago Month 1 required 2 vows so I've painted up the Platoon Commander as a Month 1 Vow2)

 

I've had to be a bit brutal with the amount of detail and effort i put into the guardsman to save time on the large number of them i'll be slowly takling, but the marine's will have a but more care taken when i get round to them =) and bases have been left for a later vow cause i'm not sure what I fancy yet =D

 

The photo's arn't great and the glossed black is a bit over exaggerated from flash but it'll have to do =)
