That is a truly lovely looking Rhino/Whirlwind, and I'm looking forward to seeing it painted up in your impeccable style. You don't happen to have the files for the templates, by any chance? My searches didn't manage to turn anything up looking for them.

The most recent Helbrute is lovely as well. Just absolutely beautiful paintwork on your Iron Warriors, I never tire of seeing them.

I try save, so I've always got reference & just get idea. As said Ebolahand post was aroind 2005-2006, so it sadly ether been deleted & I've not really seen them post on the forum for some time.

Only thing is just to try get the high for the raised hull part on the left.

med_gallery_13342_13449_24298.jpg

Your Whirlwind is looking great mate - really looking forward to seeing that finished!

Great work on your Dread and of course the Black Legion (especially Haarken). All of it really

Thanks Midnight runner - I ended up having to keep the Scorpius back until this week, as a few parts didn't arrive in time & due to work needed on the plasticard. Didn't want to rush the model & ended up painting a few Space Wolves instead on the days I keep aside for my own hobby :D

Update.

Since the holidays finish up. I've been really busy & it meant not getting to much of my own models painted. Also that way, we saw a new Chaos model preview last week. It that way on what can I build/paint between now up until that release & what I should hold off adding until the release happen.

But here what I have so far.

The new Lord getting there. I just need to add chip effect onto the chainsword, get the servo skulls finish painted & add "IV" transfer onto the T face berserker helmet.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1379988.jpg

Spent bit of yesterday getting the World Eater Biker painted as well. Just need add few more tuft grass & aim get the model varnish tomorrow. Then it just weather powder & Blood for the blood god, as well as water effect. Once thing have settle down, I would like to get the rest of the unit built & try get the new Flesh Hound models.

med_gallery_13342_13449_605865.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1355023.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_91850.jpg

The new Wrath member join my World Eater Warband, again just started painting the model yesterday. There going to be a few more Battle Brother added to the World Eater. With the release of Chapter approve, it meant I had a few points left over. Instead of having two unit of ten & one unit of eight. I will be able to get four - eight Berserker squad with Rhinos & another HQ chose. Just to bring my army back up to 2000pts & as always just add new models.

med_gallery_13342_13449_630278.jpg

The Scorpius is nearly there. I'm just waiting on a few bit order to arrive. But aim tomorrow to get the green stuff clear up & deal with any more gaps. Then it just add rivets to the turret part of the model.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1037456.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_929737.jpg

Because I didn't want to rush building the Scorpius. I got a few Primaris Marines quickly built & for some models paint during my time off during the week. I just need to add FW Wolves transfer & battle damage. I want to try get a Primaris Space Wolves force complete by the end of this year as it been way to long & also update the dark grey Space Wolves (none Primaris) with re-painting parts & adding new parts just bring life to those models.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1486832.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_7610.jpg

I should hopeful have my Ultramarine Kill-team squad ready. Just got there squad number added, then it just add battle damage.

med_gallery_13342_13449_831745.jpg

Nice work - I like the Space Wolf colour scheme and the Ultramarines, the new Primaris kits are excellent.

Thanks Brother Mayhem. I really like the Primaris models. The Ultramarines I painted back that the end of 2017, where the very first lot. Also really enjoy gaming against them as we have a few all Primaris army list that my gaming club as well.

Quick update.

I've not had to much time. I was aim get the Scorpius painted on Wed, but that change last moment & Saturday was spent gaming against a friend with there Daemons.

But here the Scorpius so far & just find it better seen some paint on the model now. So this will get painted during the week.

So trophy wise. There going to be

- Iron Warrior

- Crimson Fist

- Red Scorpion

- Novamarine

- Syn Slannesh warband

- Berserker, I'm thinking base on my own warband base upon the campaign event last year.

med_gallery_13342_13449_137885.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_783758.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_837055.jpg

Wrath battle brother. He just need to get varnish, but it current on hold with the weather/temperature that the moment.

med_gallery_13342_13449_852082.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_108043.jpg

Then bought this lot on Saturday.

After Chapter approve release. With the points & a few changes, instead of currently having 2x ten & 1x eight models Berserker. It work out I can have four unit of eight, with there rhinos. As always I prefer adding more models to my armies allow me to add more cool models & just to give me more option.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1753116.jpg

Then finial getting the Space Wolves transfer to add onto a few trophy & they will also get added onto the Primaris Marines shown last week.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1048407.jpg

I though I would also show a few photos, from my game on Thursday against my friend Eldar.

med_gallery_13342_13449_885551.jpg

Feeling a little out number here.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1736423.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_764829.jpg

Shown that those of the IVth legion are Iron Within.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1138285.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_236737.jpg

Pretty much all of these cards where rely upon Lord Narach, his Terminator bodyguards & Obliterators. I've never been stress (not in a horrible way).

med_gallery_13342_13449_466990.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_261359.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_938379.jpg

Adding onto the cards. This was pretty much my Inv save (98%) for two turns when deal with the Eldar fire power before they got into close combat. Sadly didn't get any of the four cards in the end. But that didn't matter. For me what matter is the game been fun & it a really great Eldar force. A rematch is going to be sorted depend on my friend shift with there work.

med_gallery_13342_13449_483399.jpg

Beautifully painted armies fighting over one another, good stuff! With such a large collection, what's your thoughts on army creation?

Thanks Brother Mayhem

That my gaming club event last year the votes where really close.  Both of us where tie on votes, while my other friend with Space Wolves won best army by just two more votes than us.

Army collection

If you check out this video which seem to been taken during a Forge World event.  Mark talk though army painting & just the mind set to get into, while Golden Daemon would be a different mind set.

I would maybe say

  • Collect the models you will enjoy building & painting.  I just personal thing going with the latess Internet list, then drop it as soon as it no longer the "top" thing is a waste of time & energy.  I far rather have my energy go into a army I care about, that I enjoy painting ever single model.

It also sort why I've gone to less events, as that side is just not the way I wish to enjoy the gaming side of the hobby to be honesty.

  • What the aim.  Are you collecting the army because of the models.  Because of a bit of background or art work.  Where you inspired by a movie?  Are you just wanting to try a new painting skill?

  • Try to set deadline, but don't worry if there not been achieve.  The aim to just see progress, set some time aside per week from a hour here & there or a single full day.  It just to get into the habit of painting models.  Not all of them will get painted in a single day.  But try aim for set thing.

There ETL on here.  Going to a event.  Maybe you've got a game happing & would like to try a new unit out.

But also, we all do have stuff that can take up our time.  The past week & a half I've been really busy, but this will hopeful settle down by the end of the week.  I've already got Sunday aim as a day off to get some of my own models built.

  • Don't get distracted when painting.  It to easy to get distracted & what might feel like five min on facebook or the forum, end up been a hour.  That home, I often have my PS4 on ether with music, dvd or battle report from Table Top tactics.  It easy to have them on & just play on.  Where standard TV, issue is search channels for something to watch, then ad's.

Other wise my own models often get painted that my local store.  I can pretty much sit there for hours painting my own models & just talk to friends or watch there games.

  • Don't get frustrated.  Amount times I've seen people get frustrated on a way a model turn out or in there own skills or in the option they've been given.  It end up led to them just give up.  This is a hobby end of the day & it meant for enjoyment.  General it best to keep going forward & see what the complete model look like.  It always worth talk to friends in the hobby who know how your mind work as they will give you a idea that will work for you.

  • Try get a fast colour scheme that look cool.  When it come to army painting, to paint a single ork in a month with 20 highlight is going to be pretty soul destroying.  Just have base coat, shade, a highlight or two, detail like battle damage.  I've gotten 180 Orks painted in two weeks.

  • Spray paint.  I would say over the past few years now I've been using the Games Workshop colour spray paints after undercoating my models.  Just the amount of time it help save base coating the models.

World Eater, I can get a squad spray red about 5 min.  Where if I was hand paint the base coat, it would take a few hours.  Or you can easily get a table worth terrain done in a day with just spray paints & dry brush.  Using Black undercoat to give burnt effect near the end of the building.

If there anything else I can think off, I try add it in another update.  Pretty much, this is a hobby & meant for enjoyment.  I paint armies for a living & there always 100+ models.

Also watch the video just attach there.

Love that scorpius! Even just at the current stage it is oozing detail work, going to look great that.

Very wise words on the army building - it’s something I have always struggled with as there is always a new shiny. At the moment though I am going to go full bore Black Legion 40k and those are words that I can certainly relate to.

I like your action shots btw, nice to see two well painted armies :tu:

Thanks Midnight runner

Quick update

It been a week & a half, but mange to get time to paint the Scorpius today. With the rest been aim for Saturday.

I'm also going to need to sort out the IW crew member. Just I've been waiting for a bit order, but it seem to have gone missing in the warp sadly. So I'll need to try sort something out tomorrow, so he ready for painting on Saturday. I'm also going to replace one of the trophy with a Ork Skulls to help theme some of the trophy from the Warhammer World campaign event I took part in last year.

Then the Wrath Battle Brother now ready to join the rank of my World Eater warband.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1367107.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_303715.jpg

I've mange to sort it, so I have Sunday off. I'm aim on keep this day aside for building my own models & so far I'm looking that

- Building 4 Khorne Berserker

- Building a Rhino for them

- Get the World Eater biker built

- Get the Dark Mechanicus model from BSF built

- Get the Chaos Guards base

- Get weather powder done to the Scorpius.

Update

The Scorpius is getting there. But I wasn't able to get the model varnish today due to the weather :sad.:

med_gallery_13342_13449_118680.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_598286.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1324651.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1123994.jpg

Then the World Eater biker with Blood for the Blood god added. I'm just waiting to get the Scorpius, above varnish. So I can apply weather powder to both of the models.

med_gallery_13342_13449_368440.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_864782.jpg

I've also recently had my mobile updated, due to some issue with the mobile I had before this one. One of the things is just having a bit of a better camera, which I will be planning on using for some of my games. But here some of the photos I though I would try out.

So just getting use to the camera & seen what work out.

med_gallery_13342_13449_88420.jpg

Just before my game of Killteam during the week there. But I was not able to get any photos during the game that my gaming club, due to need leave early than normal.

med_gallery_13342_13449_88162.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_2390.jpg

With having today off. I was wanting to try get as much building as possible. Sadly didn't get the Biker squad built. But I did get the rest of the Black Stone fortress models built, with the Chaos Guards & Dark Mechanicus. So they get added to my Iron Warriors, Chaos Guard give me another unit of Cultist, with a few Necromunda models added in there to help with the number.

While also getting a start on a fourth unit of Berserker. So my World Eater go from 2x 10 Berserker & 1x 8 Berserker, to four units of 8 Berserker thanks to the chapter approve updates.

med_gallery_13342_13449_131480.jpg

Aim for my Champion for the new squad to be inspired by this art work from Bloodquest. While the other two member will also be World Eater. For the finial Battle Brother, I'm thinking of modelling him as a fallen Red Corsair. Base on Chris army that I fought during Throne of Skulls September 2016.

med_gallery_13342_13449_126891.jpg

But aim to try getting the Rhino built during tomorrow for the fourth unit of Berserker & have that ready for painting for this week.

Edit

Iron-Daemon Forge on Instagram is also live now

https://www.instagram.com/irondaemonforge05/

Update

Due to a lot happing during the week, I was unable to get the fourth Rhino built. But that going to get sorted during tomorrow. So instead I ended up model three out of the four new Berserker I'm needing for the fourth unit. I'm just waiting for the weather to settle down a bit until I can varnish them, along side the Scorpius shown in last few updates & the Biker as well.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1519463.jpg

As said in the last update, I wanted my Champion to roughly be base upon one of the Khorne Berserker from the Bloodquest comic.

Update

Needless to say I'm looking forward to this & waiting to see what will be preview that the LVO event.

med_gallery_13342_13449_15134.jpg

Hobby wise - That the three Berserker now finish. I've just got the Flesh Tearer Battle Brother left to build, so hopeful get that sorted during the weekend.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1514472.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1184661.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1009670.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_559371.jpg

Then the Scorpius has finial got weather powder added. With the weather settle down a bit & also having a bit more time toward my own models. So it just got one more layer weather powder to apply. Also just started painting the combi bolter member. It would have been done sooner, but a bitz order I place seem to have gone missing in the warp & I've had to quickly search for spare parts I had. So hopeful have this all finish by the weekend.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1056589.jpg

Same with the Khorne biker. Finial getting around to applying weather powder & just got one more layer to add. Aim to get the rest of his squad build during the weekend, as it turn out I will need them toward my 2000pts World Eater list after the change in Chapter approve. I just need to thinking about the Flesh Hound, if I ether try buy the spure on ebay or wait a little longer for Games Workshop to release the models & just try leave space to add them in the near future.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1628723.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1486600.jpg

Then just getting the fourth Rhino for the World Eater painted today. Over on my Instagram, you can find a photo of the Rhino in just the red base coat & just starting to paint it. Post up 8 hour as of now.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BtimiVsHqWT/

med_gallery_13342_13449_226602.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_176617.jpg

With the Khorne icon on the side here, all I need to do is take a scalpel blade & just scrap some of the Abaddon Black away.

med_gallery_13342_13449_1285969.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_1716554.jpg

So the World Eater Rhino & Iron Warrior Scorpius be finish during the weekend. Hopeful get weather powder added to the World Eater Rhino as well during the weekend.

Just having a look & what I want to add to my armies. Just right now I've also been holding back with the possible release of new Chaos Marines. For exsample, as much as I want to add a Dark Apostle to my World Eater, part of me want to wait for that new Black Legion character to be release.

But I think thing I'm safe to go forward & add

Iron Warriors

- I've already spoken about the Terminators been cover in Barbed Wire. I'm possible going to use the legs from the FW Justerian (sp) set for this unit, with the top body been the plastic Terminators.

- Chosen w/Chainaxe & Combi Bolter & a few other bit wargear. Want to try get a unit who aim for assault trench & gathering information before a assault launch. Like the scene in Storm of Iron with Honsou, with one of Forrix warrior who join his company.

World Eater

- Biker, aim set some time aside on Sunday to get the unit built.

- Chosen. Like my Iron Warriors, I'd also like to get a unit of Chosen built for the World Eater arm with Chainaxe. Part of this is always been inspired by the Bloodborn, a unit that in Kh

"These are the End Times, Siroca. None of you are destined to survive the coming of the Crimson Path. The Imperial has been losing the Long War since it was first declared, and now we enter the endgame"
Iskandar Khayon, the Lord Vigilator of the Black Legion, Warleader of the Kha'Sherhan, Third of the Ezekarion & of the XV Legion.

Not so much a hobby update, that be tomorrow or Sunday. But with the recent annoucment, I though it was worth making a quick post on this.

So during a good few hour ago, Games Workshop show some really cool preview

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/02/08/8th-feb-lvo-studio-preview-2019-revealed-new-chaos-space-marines-sisters-of-battle-and-moregw-homepage-post-1/

Needless to say I've been really happy with this & it something I've felt like I've waited for, for a good amount of time. But I've already said, a while back I did have a bit of a worry that Chaos Marines would end up becoming a bit to much like the 6th ed Chosen from the box set. Which to me, I've never been a fan off, there nice models but there not once I wanted. I felt they where to mutated.

But when Black Stone fortress was release, the Chaos Marines from the set look really cool & got me really looking forward to the time, when Chaos would see there models getting updated.

med_gallery_13342_13449_8463.jpg

I've really like the Chaos Marines here. I'm looking forward converting up a lot of them for my Iron Warriors. In fact the Champion in the model give me the perfect base to convert a more up to date version of Warsmith Abhorred Riddick, before he became a Daemon Prince. Something I've wanted to try get done for a year or two.

The other part to this is, other Chaos armies. I've held back a few armies in case the update happen. So, with all of this now happing. I can finial collect my Black Legion, the very first Chaos army I collected when I started the hobby. While I may have forgotten the names of my character, I still have my Lord (see first page) who will get a very much up to date version done.

med_gallery_13342_13449_24814.jpg

Know that new Chaos Marines where possible due, when I got Black Stone Fortress. I though I would convert up one of the Chaos Marines just to get a idea & how they would fit into my collection. I don't feel he will be out of place, where the 6th ed chosen model would.

So all I need to do now is gather parts so there all ready for the release.

med_gallery_13342_13449_430524.jpg

med_gallery_13342_13449_177297.jpg

I am liking the new Daemonic walker. I think this will most like get added to my World Eater & try to keep it as sort of "there" thing for collecting point view that I try to use a bit more in my games. I'm already looking into way converting the model & got a few idea.

med_gallery_13342_13449_60175.jpg

Obliterators have always been one of my favrioted unit since they where brought into the game back in 3rd ed & because of conversion I saw in a Thousand Sons force. Needless to say they will get added & again sort out conversion idea for them.

So all I need to know now is... when are they release. I've already for

Update

With thing becoming less busy & mange to get balance back to my own time toward the hobby. Here a few thing I've mange to get done during the past week.

Lord Narach recently had a update, with a new Space Wolf trophy & one of the new updated skulls. I've often said one of my hardest fought game was against Space Wolves during Throne of Skulls Nov 2012, when we just had three models each. It was only beaten during Throne of Skulls April in my 999th game last year.

It good to got back to a few models & add a update. For Lord Narach, it seen the Axe of Blind Fury replace with the Siege Breacker mace when the Legion supplement was release over a year ago, but we've since loss that relic but I'm hoping it return ether in a updated codex Chaos or a Index in the White Dwarf.

You are certainly back on form, knocking quality stuff out at a great rate. I love that metal demon prince, it is one I have wanted to add to my own Iron Warriors for a long time. Ebay is always empty of them sadly.

Two quick questions:

  1. where do you get your barbed wire from
  2. how to you managed to get all the rams from goliaths?

You are certainly back on form, knocking quality stuff out at a great rate. I love that metal demon prince, it is one I have wanted to add to my own Iron Warriors for a long time. Ebay is always empty of them sadly.

Two quick questions:

  1. where do you get your barbed wire from
  2. how to you managed to get all the rams from goliaths?

Barbed Wire is Forge World brass etching.  Which has not been on sale for over a year now sadly.  Bio saw a sheet on ebay & had kept a eye out for me.  I've seen another two on sale over the past month but missed out due to last moment bids.

It just the stuff release for City fight back 2006 doesn't fit the aesthetic of what I am wanting.  I think I might found a place sell Brass etching barbed wire to close enough in Australia but I would need to find the link again & what I have money to spare - place a order with them to check it out.

Witht he Dozerblade.  If you use the part from the Imperial Guard tank sprue that fits there dozer blade.  Just cut the circle part in half & that way it give you the space.  Where the parts from the Genestealer cult truck, there to much of a gap.

I have a Rhino & another Genestealer Cult truck.  So when I get around to building that, I will try get a photo by photo of that done.

I know what you mean about the daemon prince.  I'm going to paint strip the model from my Mk5 era (2008-2009).  So hopeful that get done during the week & spend Monday search the shed for a few parts.

Holy mother of chaos I just spent the last 2 hours going through all these posts on this thread and I have even more vigour to start bringing more death to the Imperium. This is truly a treasure of a thread and the gods would be happy. Beautiful armies mate.

Wow Wow Wow love the conversions you've created - awesome work!

Thanks for the comments Brother Endcat & High King Mathorne.

Update

I've been pretty busy once again, with a lot of stuff happen over the past few days. However this should hopeful settle down. I've got some free time from later tomorrow afternoon & on Friday. Where I'm going to keep some time aside for the hobby, from ether just adding transfer to a few models need it or just get a few models (see below) varnish & just get last parts finish.

The fourth Rhino for my World Eater. It now just need Blood for the blood god added & also get the new ork skull on the left side painted

The Flesh Tearer Battle Brother, inspired by the Chosen of Khorne audio & from there third game where they fought a Flesh Tearer strike force. The oppent though it was pretty cool how I was adding Fallen Marines to my warband & had ask if I'd add a Flesh Tearer to there rank.

This, along with the Blood Angel one has already really annoyed a friend who a die-hard Blood Angels player. I think my friend may have been annoyed that it took around two turns with three squad of Primaris Marines to take down that Blood Angel Berserker in my first game with the World Eater.

Anyway - So just need to add tuft grass to this model during tomorrow & then just varnish & add Blood for the Blood god.

While I am waiting for this Chaos release to happen... please let it be really soon!!! I'm going to use this week & next week to get some models painted from the Black Stone Fortress box set, with them been added to my IW rank. Mean another unit to help me toward using the FW Index for the Renegades.

So the Chaos Guards from the box set.

One thing I've planned with the Cultist/Chaos Guards/Renegade is to also add Necromunda models, which I've been planning since the re-release of the game was annouce. Which was seen with the last squad, using Goliths.

Just add character & to make me want to use Cultist in my games. In all honesty I've been a bit reluctant on using Cultist as during 6th-7th ed it was just a lot of the list that where kicking about. To me, Chaos Marines will always be the backbone of my army & always will be core part of the list I take to my games.

With the Cultist. The overall theme meant to be base upon a Forge World planet, where it ended up turn out into a all out civil war. With my Iron Warriors arrive to help those who saw the true light of Chaos. Turn the planet into a Daemonic Forge World. As said I just want to add character to these units, as theme really important to me & for my models to tell the story.

I'm also planning on going back to a few models I built & painted that the start. So the Rhino for my third unit, I'm going to try add some transfer to this & add a few new trophy. It great going back to models added a while back & just adding something new now & then.

I'm also going to add some new trophy to Champion Uzas Vel. It mainly new trophy to the top of the backpack with some of the updated Skull Games Workshop release with the box set of 340 Skulls. Also having a look back that some photos from events, with trophy though out my IW's rep epic games they've fought.

As seen, he already got the IV added to the face plate, something that was added during the Christmas holidays to a lot of my Iron Warriors with the T face Berserker helmets.

I'm also going to bring Uzas Vel squad back out for a game this week as well. It been a while & I think the game going to be against Ultramarines, using a mission from the Vigilus campaign. I'm really looking forward bring them back to the gaming table. I seem to recall back in 6th ed, Uzas Vel was one of the Champions who had a habit of turning into a Daemon Prince when he won a challenge or general getting really great result on the boon table.

Other than that. Right now it mainly waiting for the new Chaos release. I'm really hoping it pretty soon & not like the Death Guards, where we had the announcement in March & waited until September for there release.

So far I've got four set of Chaos sie from the Shadowspear box set planned, with one been bought for myself & trade the Marines with a friend & then split a box with another two people.
