That's one of my gripes with the kit. It kind of requires one or the other to fill the hole. I'm considering either a modest spike, a skull, or a flap of flayed skin to cover them on my squadrons. Alternatively a cube of sprue offcut filed to profile might work. I just wish the symbols had been smooth on the underside and just straddled the nose.

I wish they had gone with a remake of the Bullock design or with the big ol' eagle like on the old Ravenwing ones or the Custodes Dawn Eagle ones.

These modern jetbikes are a little... Generic but oh well. Suppose if someone is good at greenstuff sculpting they can build up big eagles

I guess it was done to make the Eagle / Eye really easy to line up on a surface curving away from the main point of attachment in multiple directions. It makes sense, if a little annoying.

Sorry for the endless questions, but in terms of leaving the back off to paint the riders separately, I'm assuming that is relatively straightforward and the attachment of the front-rider-rear pieces is doesn't require any gap filling?

Nah, it all fits together quite seamlessly. The rider has ridges in his butt to position correctly on the saddle, and the back section has a couple of tabs to slide securely into the main body of the bike. It'll all hold together with friction no problem, as it is in my initial picture.

The fun thing about the Scimitar pattern is they named it the Scimitar pattern wich leaves room for future patterns like Bullock wich carry vastly different armaments and have different roles like the two patterns of Custodes bike... Now if only they'd bring the f'ing dawneagles to 30k...

that was one of the ones I was looking at.

it's weird that the eagles don't take up much more prominance on the vehicle considering the era we're supposed to be in for the game and their art and lore from that period.

Finished up a couple of models that have been sitting at 60-80% done. I tend to get to the last few steps and then get psyched out about ruining it right at the end, and start something new. Also the gold trim is a bit traumatizing lol.

Decided to play around and build a test Seeker, still need to find where I hid the scopes but I think it'll work.

the supressor and the studs are great, the cloak needs a little work but its not bad at all. Cant wait to see it painted.

Was going to order one of the Resin Ultramarine Dreads to find that the full one is no longer available and not interested in just buying the torso..

While building the dread I was looking at the expanded army list and saw the Ultramarines have a unique elite contemptor, Honoured Telemechrus

Adding the little skull to the torso plate was a bit of a chore - took it from a Grey Knight shield or somesuch, and had to slice it a little thinner.

I'd like to greenstuff some of the extra armour lines that the resin one has but I suck at greenstuff sculpting. Suck at using plasticard too.

One thing I have added since taking the pics - I found a couple of the old Ultramarine Forge World resin decals I bought 20+ years ago and, as one of them isn't as well made as the others, I decided to cut one of the ultimas off and stick it to the shoulder armour on the power fist side.

So here's mine.

what size brass tubing are you using for the bolters?

Guessing 1.5mm yes? I think I might have to do something similar as I don't fancy trying to get 4 more LE2 Imperial Space Marines for my Seeker squad

Got plenty of pins as I was making my own Mk5 armour back in 2007-2008 before I got fed up with 40K lol

I used 2mm brass tube in the end, but 1.5 would probably be perfect for it.

Working on a Missile Heavy Weapon squad (lascannons are so passe lol) for March for Macragge.  Got 5 more to build tonight!

Love the poses!  Not sure how much GW will love them under march for macragge hashtag on the socials

I finally built my Land Raider Proteus. I didn't enjoy making the guns but on the whole it wasn't too bad once I got my head around the weird track section construction. Having said that I think I could probably make one now with instructions.

It's a lot smaller than I had hoped, it lacks the bulk and presence of the original RT model. It's not a bad kit by any means but it feels more like an oversized Rhino than a Land Raider.
