I have to admit. It's getting a bit squeaky bum time for my vow. My crusader squad is done, but my marshal is no further than the day I pledged him...

 

The issue is I had to focus on painting two gift models before today, when the second one was handed over to it's recipient.

15 days to finish the Marshal!

Quick question -- regarding start-criteria for vow declaration:

 

I have been digging out of the wreckage on Solemnus and finding revenant units.

 

If the model was assembled, primed before the vow, is that allowed to vow ? I think the answer is yes, based on the numerous vows in the thread.

 

But here's the chaos:

 

Six years ago --  Assembled, Primed and then had an accident (too long under a lamp deformed the plastic.  Roof caved and looked like it was caught underfoot by a Stompa, heh)... so what I did was turn an accident into "battle scars" and putty-fabricated some "metal"  plates, rivets, patches and then re-primed it -- it looks like it went through the Crusader Garage for some "body work".    

 

 

Is prep-work like that disqualified from being vow ready?

I have reached my limit on what my eyes and hands do.   For TT+, probably OK.  I cannot take them any further without excessive anxiety and mistakes.   For my first vow and first complete (ever) set of painted unit, I'm OK with this, and have nothing to feel bad about.

 

Added 10 shots; one per model with different camera.  Now all the mistakes are clear... heh. 

 

Thanks to the organizer(s) of the vow.   I appreciate it.  Thank you.

For once, I wanted to do it right(ish) and waited with posting photos until the base is (sort of) done. The modifiers in parentheses in the previous sentence indicate that I intend to add grass and turfs to the bases; however, I'll have to wait for that till spring or till better weather when it's warmer and less humid outside; I've read somewhere that it's recommended to add static grass and turfs after sealing the model.

 

Regardless, I declare VOW 2 complete.

Update 21-Jan-2022:
 
Ork Mischief!   My DN model is severely broken.   I took a stab at painting it and yea, it can be painted.  But I realize after 5 years of laying dormant in the foam box, I have actually misplaced some key parts and the heat-induced defect (warm lamp deformed the plastic, as shown in original vow), the repair actually makes a mockery of the BT.   We don't do mockery in The Vendetta Crusade.
 
So off I go to GWS shop to fetch me a new DN.    It'll be a vow-on-top-of-vow level of effort to get this done.   No Matter The Odds.....

 

Update 23-Jan-2022

New model acquired.  Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought.

 

Far right -- original (starter kit DN actually) from 5+ years ago with Ork style patch (I didn't realize how poverty it was until I painted it)....  Blasphemy.

Far left -- leg / body of PRDN. 

 

 

I tried to make the original DN work out, but the putty-work from years ago (just primed) didn't seem to pass the mockery test.  Same "vow", different DN model.

 

Anyway, after some intense glue sniffing, the new model was deburred and assembled last night (ready for priming.)

 

Going to keep them in parts during painting so I can focus on details.  Debating to magnetize the body to legs.  I got a few days!

Alas, the zealots of the cursed plaguegod Nurgle laid a vile trap, costing us time and resources for the crusade.  We are regrouping, but will soon consolidate and counterattack.   

I will post pictures of what has been completed, but in all likelihood will complete this vow after the end of January.

So, you may have noticed the sword is different, I dropped my painting handle on it and OBLITERATED the sword (thankfully, only the sword), so I'va had to re-print and re-paint the sword or I'd have been done last week.

Additionally, I've found another cool model to print, if some one could help me out with the points cost,

I cut off the aquila rosary on the left hand and added a rozarius. The original Emperors Champion models had this as a necklace. I kept the same theme.

I am contemplating one final push on some models I have sitting here with just undercoat. Brother Sibo has unleashed something...

Had quite a bit of distractions in the last few weeks (blame World of Tanks for having "On Track to the" to two tanks I wanted in a row :lol:) but progress is good. I'll be able to finish my vow this weekend :yes:

 

Also I found where the Marshall's base was, it was in the box with other bases, but was flipped upside down so I didn't see it (or in other words: I severely failed that Spot check :lol:)

I took this picture on Saturday and since then only have to highlight the black, oils and do osl before basing. And do another redemptor, champion and 4 neophytes, but I've refined the process with some new drybrushes I got and I can blast through them.
