The Kill Team, Gravis Heavy Weapon Operator is cool, a unit of them with a couple of weapon options would be the best replacement for Devastators.

New video by Valrak, according to his rumours the entire Firstborn range is getting legended, minus Rhino and Land Raider, that means stuff like Centurions, Predators and the flyers are also getting the axe.

 

I'm personally curious about what he was told exactly, because the flyers been axed feels like an odd choice considering they can transport Primaris as well and it leaves an odd lore void, because what are Ultima Founding chapters using as air force then?

Kinda sad but the Flyers is not entirely surprising. The Wolves have already lost the Stormwolf and Stormfang. GW really haven't known what to do with Flyers since the massive overpowering of 8th edition.

Flyers have never been done well or right, they don't really fit tbh (even less so than titanic units before someone wades in moaning about knights), so I can see them going for all factions.

This, i can see all flyers going to legends now, and probably for the best in game terms? As always, sucks for the players who like the models though.

I know it's a joke but my understanding is that they are considered Primaris units, since a Primaris marine still goes through the Scout phase and they can wear Terminator armour

Losing the Predators and vindicators is grim. I'm not completely surprised, I've known it was a possibility for a while, but I'm extremely disappointed if this is true regardless as I had genuinely been hoping that they'd stick around due to the ubiquity of the Rhino kit.

So all Pre-Primaris units and vehicles with the exception of the Landraider and Rhino will be going to Legends. 

Thing about the Rhino is that the model is shared with multiple other factions, so they probably can't mess with the size. The Landraider, thankfully, is scaled well and is still slightly bigger than the Repulsor tanks. I guess both are now confirmed to be getting updated in the future. Hopefully the future Rhino has some more interesting pintle weapons!

 

Centurions going to Legends surprises me as I really did think they would stick around because they are correctly scaled, but I guess Gravis in the various configurations will be their replacement. At least the Gravis models are strict upgrades over Centurions in the visual department.

 

It's brutal, but one positive is that the codex will be somewhat more lean.

I'm also curious what this means for CSM, their motor pool is mostly comprised of Firstborn kits with spikes added to them, we know the Rhino and Land Raider are going to be refreshed but if Predators get the axe they suddenly lose their MBT.

 

I really hope this means CSM and the MonoGod legions get their own bespoke vehicles instead of "Loyalist but with spikes"

My understanding from this is that the new updated Rhino we are supposed to get will simply build the Rhino, no Razorback or any of the various vehicles based on it's chassis.

Yes, this is what I imagine will happen as well. It could be bigger, or they could keep the size the same. Hard to say what they'll do.

As I mentioned above, I hope they give the updated Rhino some more exciting pintle weapon options - like what the Heresy variant has access to.

IMO the Rhino being an APC doesn't need anything bigger than a storm bolter, their job is delivering units and disengaging, if I want something with enough fire power to support troops I bring an Impulsor.

Sure, but a Heavy Bolter wouldn't be too much. Real life APCs have cannons, some of them are pretty formidable.

If we are being honest many of us had these conversations from day 1 saying this would happen, it has just taken much longer than originally thought. Most were in denial. I'm not happy that this is the route they took, it is a mess. They should of just upscaled the Firstborn and it would of sold out all the same. 

 

With that being said though, they clearly have changed direction in bringing back Firstborn units, so many long-term It will all be back again and the old Primaris stuff will be phased out down the line.

The good looking flyers are already in legends anyway and I've never cared about the codex potatoes, so as long as Xiphon, Fire Raptor etc. get plastic versions for HH I'm cool. As for Rhino chassis, I think they should make up their minds what they want, tracks (as I like to call it "the correct option") or anti-grav, because I don't see how Rhino can function as the main transport if it doesn't have mobility of the tanks.

Not totally unexpected, but still not great. The shorty infantry going was given, but I hoped they would have spared the vehicles.

 

I wish that this would mean GW would take Legends more seriously and for example incorporate them into the app. And I hope this would also make people more accepting towards using the Legends. Personally I have always been fine with using them, but that is not a common attitude.

I very much doubt GW will go straight up do a 180 turn, don't confuse GW pulling some nostalgia strings with some classic design here and there to a full course correction, Primaris are here to stay, they just will be more of a blend of old and new than initially believed.

When the EC Codex dropped with only the Rhino and Land Raider, all the other Cult Legions were worried about losing access to their Predators.

 

They breathed a heady sigh of relief when their Codexes had them present...

 

But perhaps it was too soon. Perhaps GW were just waiting an edition before expanding the culling.

I doubt all the tracked vehicles are becoming legends specially if the rhino is being updated, like the base of all those vehicles is getting redone but those vehicles are not? It doesn't make any sense, I think later this year we might new land raider and rhino and then the other tanks will get an update.

It’s of course a joke, but is based on visual continuity.  Terminators are a straight update of the previous kit - they have no “Primaris” features; they are not a MKX armour variant created by Cawl.
