With all the patches the Reivers finally are usable. And they are one of the coolest looking marine units, so I really, really hope they'll stay. It still bugs me that the sergeant cannot have a better melee weapon though. It is annoying that the intercessor sarge has better melee weapons than a sarge of a dedicated melee unit.

I also quite like Reivers, and was planning on getting some to form a Specturs Kill Team for Deathwatch.

Question: Do standard Tacticus/ Fortis DW shoulder pads work on Reivers, or do you need special "Phobos" shoulderpads that are only available in limited quantities with the new 5 man Primaris DW KT?

Oh well at least now you can just use your Tacticals as Sternguard if youre a stubborn mule like me but I did expect Intercessors to become Tacticals so I do find it odd that they remain as pure bolter squads with no options. I fully expect the Razorback to return in the future so Im not too worried and personally Im tired of my models just becoming obsolete so Im just gonna play with Legends for once in 11th, awaken the Ironclads, there are walls to breach!

Im glad there's no mention of my precious boxnoughts, knock on wood that they yet remain for they are just too iconic to die!

Frankly, if they were going to send any Primaris units to Legends, it's no surprise at all that they picked these three.

The Firestrike and ATV are both push-fit kits which always seem to have a limited lifespan outside of the odd character model (Chaplain on Bike and Terminator Librarian). I still expect the Ballistus Dread ETB kit will go away, but in that case it'll be replaced by an actual MPK version. Meanwhile, the Firestrike and ATV actually had weapons options in the ETB kit so nothing really for an MPK version to improve on options-wise. As others have said, the ATV will likely be replaced by a proper Attack Bike anyway. Hopefully the Firestrike will likewise give way to an updated Thundefire Cannon.

As for the Suppressors, they're going away because the Vanguard Task Force sprue is finally being retired, apparently. I still contend they can be a good unit and could even yield some impressive models if GW would lighten up on their stupid constraint that all Primaris jump pack units need to be modeled in an elevated position. Shrike at least got some scenery to stand on, but they wouldn't do that for a three-man team. Nor, apparently, will they just give them the Lemartes treatment and allow them to stand on the freaking ground in a proper firing position where they could actually look impressive. Nope, gotta show them at their least effective, when they're just caddying the guns from one position to another. The Aggressors suffer from this to a degree as well since they're stuck shuffling about with their arms at their sides due to the fiddly magazine feeds.

If the Suppressors are indeed being Legended, that should also mean the Inceptor Lieutenant is going as well, since he's also locked to that same sprue.

Going forward, I'd agree the Judiciar is in danger for a similar reason, although I wouldn't be surprised if they release at least a Templars-specific standalone replacement. The same would be true for the Bladeguard Ancient.

The standard DW shoulderpads should work fine on phobos marines.

There are specific phobos DW pouldrons in the new decimus box, but the differences are minor at best.

There’s such a thing? Surely you mean the Phobos Lieutenant?

I will always refer to him as the "Inceptor Lieutenant" to differentiate him from the other Lieutenants who also wear Phobos armor. I have confidence that the general audience can decipher this.

If things are going to get removed then it is really weird if the boxnaughts and centurions stay.

Centurions are ugly but it's a popular unit and the scale is correct with the Primaris, funny enough.

I just wish some characters could join them. Lol let's see a Centurion captain!

Incursor Lieutenant?

I'll do you one better, Calgar in Centurion armour. One of my favourite youtubers has the best headcanon for Centurion armour being something that can be sent out from a ship to a marines that call for it and then they suit up and raise hell. He also converts his to do better proportions.

Centurions were and are not popular models, they just had occasionally good rules interactions.

Yeah, Centurions are one of those units I always had to accept made me the odd man out for actually liking them. Yes, they make no sense. Yes, they are a Space Marine inside of a Space Marine. What can I say, those goofy bastards just make me smile!

Plus, they remind me of this epic from back in the day:

To be fair, reivers look pretty cool, the issues with them have always been rules based, not looks. They're quite effective in kill team which I'm sure got them some sales.

In addition to these points, space marine 2 has a vanguard class that uses the grappling hook. I can't think of another unit besides Reivers that has them (there may be a character model I'm not aware of), and I think that makes them a bit safer. I don't know how many people that game has led to the hobby but it's done really well.

The ATV is abhorrent and the Suppressors look like they won first place in an ugly bastards competition. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I think people who say "good riddance" are missing the point. They might not have been the best units and you might not personally miss them, but such new units being removed means nothing is safe. This stuff is not cheap, but at least it used to be that you knew that it would be usable for a long while. This is no longer the case. The unit that was just released and you are now eagerly painting might be unusable in a few years.

That has always been the case; arguably if GW had been more ruthless in days gone by, they wouldn't have tied up production and time on certain kits and we'd have had range refreshes sooner.

Units that go to legends/discontinued won't self-destruct so you can still use them in your hobby circle anyway.

I think everyone has known this since they made a ton of firstborn units into legends years ago, nothing has been safe for a long time.

The standard phobos lt is also on that sprue with the supressors, but not mentioned as going to legends. I wonder if we'll see a multipart kit which can make all the different variants, phobos, reiver, combi-weapon etc.

The way Age of Sigmar handled its refreshes, Kill Team in general and the past 10 years of Warhammer 40,000 should have already clued you in. Welcome aboard, Man Who Just Started Paying Attention.

It will be a sad day to see Tacticals & Devastators leave the codex and move to Legends, they've been an iconic part of the faction for literally my entire life. I'd hoped they would simply introduce e.g. a 'Primaris Tactical Squad' with 11th and move the OG to Legends, similar to what they did with the Crusader Squad, which I thought was a good way of doing it. I suppose they still might do so at some point in the future.

The ATV & Suppressors being removed though would neither be sad or surprising.
