That is a nice grot.

The Ork side of this box looks much better from a hobby standpoint for me

I'm not into LSM or Orks, but the Greenskins are just running away with it IMO. I'm might have a bias though, I thought every box since Indomitus was won by the xenos side

Couple things interest me. One is the second deck of cards they teased being in the box, seperate from the Chapter Approved deck. The other is the objective markers. Are they going to be an actual model sprue instead of cardboard? And if so, will they be available to buy outside this box?

Hopefully, since they'll have to talk at least a bit about the rulebook in the box, they'll finally confirm for us whether or not Crusade will survive. It's literally the only thing I care about until either Sisters, Drukhari, Aeldari or GSC come. I'm not a big enough fan of Marines or Orks to be terribly excited for this... But if I learn the fate of Crusade, that goes a long way to determining my level of engagement with this edition.

Almost exactly 3 years ago, on April 29th 2023, is when Warhammer Community uploaded the article showing off everything in the Leviathan box.

Crucially, that is also when they revealed that the Core Book exclusive to the Leviathan boxset would include the new Crusade book at the time, The Tyrannic War. On the same day, they made an exclusive article just detailing the contents of the Core Book and the Mission Deck.

So yeah, assuming they reveal all the contents of the Armageddon exclusive Core Book, and it doesn't have Crusade, well, I think that's that. Maybe you can argue that GW is being cheap by not including the new Crusade book, but I think if Crusade isn't talked about here, I don't think there's much hope. Fingers crossed.

I really want Crucible of Champions, and if I'm being greedy, Armoured Gauntlet to make it into 11th as well. I'm going to be disappointed if all this stuff is left out, and the focus is purely on the tournament scene.

Also as an aside, that article is when they showed off the first 10th edition codex roadmap. Wonder if they'll do that again? If Valrak is right, Space Marines, Ork, then later on Custodes and Tau this year? Maybe show off what is coming at the start of 2027?

That second deck could be for Combat Patrol as people have theorised that they're taking a leaf from spearhead when tackling CP

Due to the forward compatibility of Codices, we'll be able to let Crusade, Crucible and Armoured Gauntlet carry on for 11th even if GW doesn't officially support them... But I'm not sure how much of that I'll be doing if they are winding down Crusade. My shop had a summer Crusade league planned, and I'm not sure it'll run if there's no "official" support, so we'll have to see.

Makes sense, Spearhead seems like it went really well for the 4th edition of Age of Sigmar. I know one of Poorhammer's big bets was that 40K would try to emulate that mode with Combat Patrol. I haven't played much Spearhead, I do prefer playing Age of Sigmar over it, but from what I have, it is actually well designed and enjoyable. I know a few who really like it.

Well yes, you are correct. But I'd love for all this to feature in the 11th edition Codices. I mean honestly, I think the most likely reason Crusade will stick around is surely it wouldn't be much work to keep it in? Even if GW were to be lazy, stop doing annual Crusade books, and just port over the Crusade rules from 10th, just editing stuff when appropriate.

Crucible of Champions is less certain. I enjoy what we got, but it's definetly something that could properly expanded upon for each faction with their respective codex. Armoured Gauntlet, I'll be surprised if it makes it into 11th. It's marketed as being a seperate game mode, and while there is basically no real reason why it couldn't be shoved in the Core Rules, I can imagine GW resisting wanting to add an extra layer of complexity to vehicles/monsters. I mean personally, I'd love it, make the big stuff actually feel tough and durable and special. Would probably mean all vehicles/monsters would need a points rise across the entire board, but considering the trend of models slowly go down in point cost, I would see that as a good thing frankly.

We now appear to have a pic of most of the Space marine half

Librarian, Ancient and Gravis bolt guys seem to be confirmed. Though if those pics are life sized, is that a smaller box than normal or am I still not grasping how big primaris marines are?

Them taking the piss out of themselves with the old timey silent movie vid made me snigger, especially ending on the promise of "With Sound!*"

*Probably.

In the auspex tactics thumbnail for the reveal video there’s something yellow and red in between two of the intercessors, can anyone tell what that is?

edit

nvm I think it’s just a banner

Yes its the ancient

Dunno if anyone else is, but I’m kinda hoping they might expand the grots somewhat like the goblins were to orks in warhammer fantasy(presumably in old world as well).

Don’t need multiple codexes like they did to the greenskins in AOS, but seeing more than just a trash screening squad, the odd artillery and disposable tokens would be great, especially with upstart leader grots now cannon from the crucible;)

Would be interesting(to me at least) especially if they got to the point where unit variety could support ork, grot and mixed armies like fantasy could. I still have a night goblin horde I’m slowly building up since battle at skull pass, no big’uns allowed, cept the stoopids(friendly trolls)

So since this hits the same date as Leviathan, it’s reasonably safe to assume the same sort of reveal schedule for the codex stuff as last time. So that means we should see all the Ork stuff for around mid July at the latest? (Nids, which iirc lost the reveal first vote, were revealed on 15th July).

Nothing hinted or shown in the box on the SM side has interested me so at the moment I’m leaning towards just buying a split Ork half (haven’t been playing 40k for a couple of years so don’t need any of the other materials).

I’m hoping the full Ork reveal and the codex stuff knocks it out of the park.

yeah same - i picked up some of the goblin and squig issues from which ever AoS Hachatte mag it was and plan on sticking them all over my ork army - on trucks, backs of bikes etc... but would love some actual Grot units to go with them

Reminds me of my first ever game of warhammer. It was the 2nd edition starter set in my local gw.

They gave me 20 grots and the other player 10 space marines with a missile launcher, sergeant and flamer.

I lost.

Actually Nids won and their whole range was revealed first, the SM reveals were later (end of August/early September)

AK-47,000’s for everybody!

Ears too small. This is going to be a bizarre 3d printing niche offering. ‘Grot ear extensions’

Damn you, autocorral!

Really enjoying the Grots* and coming around to the idea that I may end up owning the greenskin half of this box, at the very least.

* Tho they're not quite as fun as the classic Gorkamorka ones, which remain the best Gretchin miniatures ever made

Yeah, you know the rules. It's guns OR shoes - not both!

There's also the old ammo grot(?) who's taking a crap in an unguarded ork helmet.

You can't just say that and not show us it.
