++E TENEBRAE LUX II++

Update 1: pre paint WIP.

 

So this will be my  first entry for this years E Tenebrae Lux challenge. He still needs a little bit of assembly work, mostly horns/spikes that need to be added. I'm not sure when I'll get around to painting this chap (hopefully before the deadline :P ), probably durring my mid year holidays in about a months time.

Update 2: Early base coating WIP.


 


 


I finally managed to get some work done on the DP! Just laying down the first few base colours so that after my exams/assignments I can get straight into the highlighting and detail work. Plus I was feeling a bit guilty because of my lack of progress...

Wow, I missed this guy last time around. He's exactly how I envision a Daemon Prince. The colors are great so far. :smile.:

Progress is looking good so far. What're you going to end up doing with the axe?

Thanks Tanith! I think I'm going to keep the axe fairly basic. I probably work up from a Boltgun Metal base coat and I might add some gore depending on how it looks.

I've done some more work on the armour. I'll probably give it a final highlight with mithril silver to finish it off.

How have I NOT posted in here? I've looked through this thread probably dozens of times, gods I'm such a shut-in. Anyway, fantastic thread in general, Kizzdougs, but the one model that sticks out the most is the EC Raptor champ, he's absolutely brilliant. As for the Khorne DP, I really dig the use of Zombie Dragon wings mounted high on the shoulders (I've tried Chimera wings mounted further down on the back in some abortive attempts to turn one into a Bloodthirster, but was never happy with it), the added verticality really works for him. Amazing painting as well, especially the brass. Looks fantastic as it is, but any plans for verdigris?

The Zombie Dragon wings were much bigger than I had anticipated but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. They certainly give the model a lot of presence. I'm working on the DP for the ETL so I'll be aiming to get him done to a reasonable standard before anything else. Some verdigris would definitely look great on the armour and would add a nice contrast to all the red and brass. I'll have to think about it once the mini is finished.

Well, I'm finally on holidays so I got some more work done on the Daemon Prince. I've pretty much finished the red flesh and the armour. The skulls and horns only need one more highlight each.

Looking great, brother. The red is brilliant and has a lot of contrast in it and I love how the bronze looks. 

Are the silver parts (mainly the axe) done? They lack the contrast that so much of the model has already, so it makes them stand out as being sort of bland.

Thanks Alpha! The iron bits still need to be highlighted with mithril silver.

 

Oustanding. Really, excellent, I lovethe ivory look of the skulls, Wish I could achieve that sort of bone colour.

The Daemon Prince is finished! I'd still like to add some stringy gore to the axe but until I find a gore recipe that I like he is essentially finished.

I've just signed up for the Daemonic Pact event in the CSM forum. This time around the theme is based on Characters (Lords, Sorcerers, Aspiring Champions etc.).

 

I didn't have anything appropriate to paint, so I sat down and built this chap.

The idea was that he'd be a Champion/Lieutenant of the Hounds of Abaddon. A former Company Champion of the XIIth Legion now fighting for the Warmaster in 13th Black Crusade. I've never really been overly interested in the Black Legion but I'm starting to get pretty excited about AD-B's up coming BL novel, Talon of Horus, especially after reading the first chapter.
