  1. Being deeply dissatisfied with a mini is the best motivation to get back into the game, at least for me. Thanks! The defiler will be my first test with an airbrush (and maybe oil colors), I hope that's going to work out. Love that crab thing! Outside the box stuff like that is the best. I didn't think too much about weapon loadout with the defiler, so yeah, it's going to stay clawless. I do have an idea in my head for a defiler "squad leader" which would be equipped with claws, but I'm also thinking about building an earthshaker defiler...so, who knows.
  2. Thanks! I had the box sitting on my shelf for years actually. I bought it from my local vendor because I couldn't find anything on Ebay at the time and nobody I knew had one themselves that they could donate. I just didn't know what to do with it until I came across another defiler conversion with four legs online and then it clicked. Thanks, glad to be back! The cable maker is a gift from the heavens, really simple but I use it on pretty much every mini nowadays.
  3. Thanks! I really like the concept of the defiler. So, I tried to change it as much as possible while staying kinda close to it's origin or the idea of what it should be like.
  4. Hi everybody! I'm pleasantly surprised to find my thread still intact after a few years of inactivity. Time to boot this thing up again! +++ CHAOS DEFILER WIP +++

  6. Yeah it's really tough! I think I'll try switching upper and lower bodies when I get around to my second box to avoid the same poses all over again. But that's gonna be time-consuming work.
  7. I'm currently struggling with my own possessed, so it's encouraging to see other hobbyists with their conversions. It's not easy to make each of them unique with the limited out-of-the-box options but I really like what you've done with yours. Great stuff!
  8. For me personally, no. The main reason for not buying more is time not money. Like Brother Captain Arkley, I collect vinyls and whisky, but additionally I'm into mountain biking and photography. Getting a nice bike or a sharp lens can get crazy expensive quickly. But considering the current cost of living issue one has to wonder if veteran customers are getting priced out of the hobby and if potential beginners are discouraged by the cost. I don't think GW charges unreasonable prices, because for a high quality product designed and produced in Western Europe it's quite ok. Still, Warhammer was never a cheap hobby and it didn't get any cheaper over the years plus now we have a whole bunch of huge kits well above 100€ that didn't exist when I started playing. Like I said, I don't fault GW for their pricing, but at the same time a lot of people have to tighten their belts. And that sucks. Oh yeah, that's the good stuff.
  9. +++ Venomcrawler +++ So, a venomcrawler. After getting the Shadowspear box (mostly for the sweet marine bits) I decided to put the little spider together without any kitbash or conversion. It's a nice change-of-pace every now and then to just build and paint something. I'm not the biggest fan of the mini and if I'll ever get a second one I would change a lot about the base model, particularly the head/face and the spikey ridge on the back. But the next daemon engines on my list are a heldrake and defiler anyway, both of which will be converted heavily to match the aesthetics of my Night Lords.

  11. Thanks! Yeah I used to make bases with brown earth and grey slate but after a couple Unification Wars minis on red/orange waste bases I thought why not use these for Night Lords as well. It's a great complementary color.

  13. Love it! It looks like you're making good use of the Grave Guard kit.
